First of all, it has shake b people up. These are members of congress, but as one reminded me today, they are people and this was an attack that they work with. Some hope this ratchets down the political rhetoric, but its also putting the spotlight on security, nost just here on capitol hill, but any time they are in public. He was describing where the shooter was and where he was angled and walking to and what he was hiding behind and when he switched guns. That might be a scenario thats going on when you start getting rapid questions. They are like tired of maybe going back and forth with each other. On facebook he was a member of a group called terminate the republican party. A search of online newspapers even shows he frequently wrote letters to his hometown paper complaining of income inequ inequality. An additional two individuals, a congressman and a Capitol Hill Police officer, obtained secondary injuries at the scene and were transported to local hospital and treated. As for the subject, and this is the only time i will be referring to him by his name, this afternoon we released a statement noting that the subjects name was James Hodgkinson, 66 years of age of belleville, illinois. He succumb to his injuries at the hospital and the medical examiner has issued the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. The fbi has issued a seeking information poster identifying the shooter and ita could be found at fbi. Gov. While the subject is deceased, we continue to actively investigate the shooters motive, acquaintances and whereabouts that led to todays incident. This wasnt a case that went on for weeks and weeks. Reporter john mcman says jurors are split between two camps. One in favor of conviction and one in finding cosby not guilty. A unanimous decision on any of the three counts even if they are dead locked on the others would bring the comedian possible jail time or set him free. The District Attorney would decide whether to retrial on another account. He would be face iing a nnsi on that charge for which he was found guilty. He could still be retried on the remaining charges. The jury has asked a handful of questions during several days of deliberations and requested that a portion of the testimony be reread. Mcman believes jurors are dead locked. The judge is not going to accept that right away. The judge will instruct the jury further and say i want you to go back and give your best efforts.
