Atlantic city police have more eyes on the seaside resort than ever before. Its brand new multimillion dollar Surveillance Center. Where hundreds of video cameras are monitored around the clock providing live clear sviews of the entire boardwalk plus beaches and other parts of the city. They have long reach and state of the art cameras. So to for something whether it be a car or person, that allows us to do much more quicker. The cameras can be manually controlled to tilt and zoom during major events like beach concerts. This room will serve as the Police Command center. Im still going to go out to the concert. And if Something Like that happens, what are you going to do . Authorities tell me right now more than 500 cameras are being monitored in the Surveillance Center and even more will be added. A sudden spike in car break ins has people and police on alert. Police have handled reports of 61 cars being broken into over the past eight weeks. As Deanna Durante reports, officers say just two of those cars were locked. Reporter police say this neighborhood alone was hit 16 times in one night. All the reason why they are urging people to lock up their cars and pay attention. Youll see one thing and hell bark at it. Reporter rusty does not look like a guard dog. But he was a big alert to his owners. They went out and by the time they got out, the doors of the car were open. But since they dont keep anything in the car, they didnt make a great haul. Reporter more than 60 cars have been hit in two months and only two were locked. In some cases waelts, briefcases and other items have been taken. They say mostly its change thats left out in plain view. They warned residents about the rash of thefts asking residents to lock up and anything suspicious they see to call 911. Residents say by the time they make that call, they hear that noise. Those thieves are gone. 202 is just a mile away. Making for a quick escape. Only one of the jurors is black. Cosby said he believes the case against him has racial overtones. Lawyers need 12 jurors and 6 alternates for the trial to begin in Montgomery County on june 5th. Thats right. Actually, i got to go inside the planes of the men and women fly. They go right through, above and around some of the biggest storms to impact our region. Take a look. The planes were big. Most carried small crews consistenting of meteorologists, pilots and engineers. The Hurricane Hunters dropped probes into the storms, which gathered crucial data that we use here at nbc 10 to forecast. I even met some of the crew members, the men and women who take on the Dangerous Missions in the sky to help better our forecasting. Most said that flying is a bit like a roller coaster and usually feel totally safe, but check out this story from one engineer. In one case we lost an engine as the plane was penetrating the eye wall. And the aircraft began to spiral into the lower eye. We got down to 700 feet. I was pretty concerned that day. Fortunately they were able to recover the airplane and spiral back up into the eye until they could exit safely. Gave me chills when e he told me about that one. All the crew are high lly train and this was an isolated incident. Hes more afraid of spiders than flying a mission.
