The fbi has launched an investigation into paul manafort. So its time now to check in with our political punchout team. Democratic Mark Alderman and republican jim schwartz join us us. How will the fbi investigation s affect the race . It galvanizes the bases of each of the candidates, this association with anthony weiner, the fact that theres 650,000 emails to go through, it just raises a lot more question marks for Republican Voters who may have been on fence. The comey letter was a blast that you could hear on the moon, i think it was more fire works than heavy artillery. A lot of flame and a lot of spark and it spooked a lot of people. Theres no hole blown in the side of her campaign here, as Bernie Sanders said, these damned emails have been out there for a year and a half, everybodys made up their mind what they mean and this isnt to move the needle. As you see their cam pain is reeling, they want to blame jim comey for their own problems. Theyre struggling and theyre trying to figure out what in means. You mentioned fireworks there, many people have been talking about the letter, the preliminary inquire that fbi director james comey has already delivered to Hillary Clinton. What do we think about this investigation . How was it handled here . Good, bad . Bad, jim comey is a good man who made a very, very bad mistake. He did three things wrong. He, number one, injected the into the middle of a president into the middle of a president ial election. He number two now isnt fixing the hole that he dug, isnt telling us that he knows nothing, because he knows nothing yet. And number three t double standard between what happened with Anthony Weiners lap top and the investigation into Paul Manaforts connection s with russia is simply unacceptable. Its up to the American People not to let this mistake tilt the playing field. Jim comey was a career prosecutor, he was a assistant United States attorney, the Deputy Attorney general and now the fbi director, president obama himself called him out on what wonderful integrity he has as a human being and as the fbi director and supporting his fbi director. I think the only people that need to look in the mirror are the clintons on this thing. They were the ones that had emails covered under the shroud of darkness on a private server. They were the ones that commingled Foundation Work that commingled personal work and government work all into one. The clintons have to look at themselves not jim comey on this. We have to take a pause, i feel like were going down a rabbit hole right here. Mark alderman, jim schultz, thanks for taking the time. Thank you. Thank you. Now your nbc 10 first alert weather. Reporter we spoke to a woman who told us she waited 20 minutes just to get to the entrance of that septa rail station here. Take a look at this long line of people waiting for a taxi. This usually never happens. Its a lot busier inside. This line really came together in the last 30 minutes, many of them trying to get home after work and the Regional Rail trains are the only ones working. I took a closer look and saw that septa workers didnt let passengers into this area without checking their ticket first. Im told officers are working 12hour shifts. We spoke to a couple of passengers as they left they trains. I thought it was terrible. I heard the stories, i just saw the line out there, my god. Im just trying to get to 30th street. The question today, are they talking . Well, we are told that both sides are currently inside this Sheraton Hotel, but say they are not talking at this point, they are in discussions for the next couple of hours. At frankford station, subway operators, bus drivers are saying that theyre refusing to even accommodate us or meet us halfway. Reporter but septa says that negotiators are ready to talk. The biggest sticking point, the Employee Pension plan, state and city leaders calling on both sides to make a fair deal. This is something thats bad for everybody and it has to end. Were urging them to continue to talk and continue to work on this and we understand that people are upset and they should be because its very inconvenient. The last septa strike took six days, now concern this strike could impact election day, keeping voters away from the polls, septa will seek a Court Injunction ordering a halt to the strike on november 8. Im not going to speculate on any type of legal i read today that septa was thinking about doing something, but were not urging them to do that. Hopefully by election day this will be resolved. Workers dont want to addition rupp the election, they hope this will end soon, but they want a better pension and a better contract. Were out here fighting for what we deserve. Reporter and i can tell you within the last 30 seconds or so, the Union Spokesman actually came outside to speak to reporters, he tells me, in the past 30 minutes, they did actually get a new Contract Offer from septa, but said they rejected it out of hand immediately, theyre saying there are basically there are no changes they can agree to. At this point the strike continues. Lets talk about the effects now of that strike, take you up to sky force 10 for a birdseye view of the roads right now. You have been in the air for more than 90 minutes now, tell us what youre seeing. Low going for a whole lot of folks trying to get home tonight. Take a look at this, when the broad street line is close eclo what do you do . For a lot of people you drive into center city. Were tracking it live from sky force 10. Slow going, no doubt about that. Lets help you get around. A lot of trouble out there to talk about. Nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter Jessica Boyington has more on delays and cancellations. Septa just tweeted from their official twitter account, that the Regional Rail crews are in position to operate the trains, the cancellations are subsiding, but you should still expect some pretty significant delays. Because of that strike activity, most of the Regional Rail services are dealing with some of those delays and also overcrowding. A lot of extra passengers trying to overflow on to these cars. Lands dale dealing with at least 60minute delays. The trenton line is dealing with crew shortages as well. So theyre dealing with some cancellations and overcrowding as well. Where most of that stuff goes is on to the road. Here the vine street expressway, our cameras right around 8th street. We have cams around the area, showing the schuylkill expressway and on vine street moving through center city. This is a little bit further west, it intersects with the schuylkill express way, you can see pretty significant delays moving in or out of center city because all of these overflow of cars are now on the roads.
