A lot of strong thunderstorms in delaware and heres the line of storms that started breaking up in new jersey. What were watching is one very strong tomorrow Newcastle County into kent county. A very strong thunderstorm and heavy rain in piles grove and it is weakening a bit. Just that one though. The other storm were watching moving into middletown that. One is very strong and its severe so that means damage willing wins near 60 Miles Per Hour and damaging lightning and potentially rain. Warnings are up in kent county until 5 15. Smyrna, youre seeing it approach the area at 5 14 and stowe creek 5 27 and bridgeton by about 5 37. This one is travel to the east right around 30 to 40 miles an hour. Take a look at the number of Lightning Strikes. This is moving right through middletown and right through Newcastle County and right across the major interstates and themileanhour roads and also precip rate of a little over four inches an hour in some of the heaviest amounts. Flood advisories are up because of this and also from new jersey that we saw earlier. If youre in mt. Laurel youre seeing heavy rain and heavy rain there and the flood advisory from Newcastle County towards new jersey neighborhoods up into Burlington County. Thats going to go until 6 15. Some drama that just take place in cleveland. Want to show you what happened in the past half hour. Drama on the floor of the convention when antitrump delegates, delegate Unbound Movement was trying to voice a roll call on the vote. A lot of shouting and chanting. The colorado delegation walked out of this Convention Floor, but in the end the rules stuck. They were not change and so that effort failed. Joining me now is our republican analyst who is here in cleveland from philadelphia. Jim schultz. Thanks for being here this afternoon. We saw some drama did, we not . We did, we did. Saw quite a bit of drama but not all that exunexpected. I think the Never Trump Movement had a lastditch effort to try to call a roll call vote. They couldnt get it across the finish line. It wasnt expected they would get it across the finish line but what you heard was a whole lot of chaint chanting and most coming from folks who support sglump what does it say about the divisiveness in the Republican Party for this presumptive nominee. I dont believe it does. What it shows is we have a transparent process. The democrats do not do they do this under the cover of darkness. We air it out in public just like in the rules Committee Last week and thats what the republicans do. Come together as a party and have been coming together as a party and large majority in this place have a ton of energy in supporting donald trump . Do you think this seyfert dead at this point . Yes, absolutely. Reporter tonights theme is make america safe again. That a planned theme from about a month ago as i understand it but all the more timely given whats going on lately overseas and here in the states. Policeinvolved shootings, Police Shootings down south. What can we expect tonight along those lines with that theme . I think youre going see folks coming together and really trying to bring together this whole issue of the policeinvolved shootings, the Police Shootings, and i think youre going to see a very compassionate republican discussion and a lively republican discussion on this on how we address these issues. Hey, were expecting to see donald trump here at the Convention Floor tonight. Thats an unusual move expected to introduce his wife melania who is a keynoter. Certainly not typical, burks look, this is a donald trump candidacy. He hasnt run a typical campaign from the beginning. Its not a surprise that he wants to come out and introduce melania and then show support for all the folks here today supporting him. Jim schushlgts our republican analyst at the republican National Convention in cleveland. Thanks so much for being here. More developments and more drama to come. Hope youre sticking around. Ill be here all week. With that, guys, back to you in philadelphia. All right. Jim, thank, and we will continue our live coverage from cleveland all throughout rnc here on nbc 10 and on the nbc 10 app. Look out for our live shows each night. Convention starting tonight at 7 00 p. M. Well, we saw some strong storms moving through the area and we have a new thunderstorm warning in parts of kept county. Earlier it was newcastle and kent county. Either way very strong storms moving. In the line has pretty much moved through philadelphia so now its delaware and parts of south jersey were watching. Zoomed in through parts of newcastle and salem county and south jersey. A lot of lightning across red line across route 1. Salem county seeing the heavy rain near the lower Alloway Creek. Precip rate of 2 to 4 inches, and now were zooming out a little bit. Summera down to 13 and close to dover. The heavy rain is still west of dover and its headed in your direction. A lot of lightning in this as well right over middletown and just over that. Now this thunderstorm is strong producing potentially winds near 60 miles an hour. A lot of heavy rain, potential hail and all the lightning you see. You definitely want to get indoors if youre in the path of this thing. Upper deerfield can expect it by 5 32 and vineland 5 47. Millville 5 51 so once it moves through delaware it will be moving into parts of newgersry. Lightning strike 870 in the past five minutes a lot. Precip rate a little 40e6r inches an hour and thats why theres flood advisories out for these exact areas. Newcastle county and parts of salem county and flood advisory until 6 15 so basically weve seen enough heavy rain in this storm for a long enough period of time because its not a fast mover to potentially give us flooded roadways or creeks so thats one thing well be watching here, especially down through parts of kent county. Expect that coming soon. Now were looking at new jersey. Pockets of heavier rain in new jersey. Heaviest already moved through philadelphia. Just north of Atlantic City now and egg harbor and i cross the ac expressway theres heavy rain as well and heavy pockets of rain moving through parts of Burlington County w. Any severe thunderstorms like i mentioned you see the yellowshade area in kent county right across doefrmt thats that other Severe Thunderstorm Warning and with any severe thunderstorms we can expect winds near 60 miles an hour. Those are damaging winds, lightning, heavy rain and possible hail. So we still are under the severe thunderstorm watch until 8 00 p. M. This includes everybody. Now this means until 8 00 tonight. We still have the potential of seeing severe thunderstorms so damaging storms. I think the main threat until 8 00 tonight will mostly be delaware and new jersey and everyone is pretty much fair game. Future weather is showing the showers and storms through Newcastle County down through parts of Sussex County and into south jersey that. Continues by 7 30 and quickly moves off sure. As we get closer to 10 00 tonight. Then we start to dry out overnight and going into tomorrow a sunny day and youll feel the humidity dropping throughout the day so it will be a much dryer day. Look at the temperatures. Already got into the mid90s this afternoon. Helped to fuel the storms out there now and temperatures have quickly cooled down so this is raincooled air. Dover is still at 92, but theres a lot of heavy rain heading towards dover so that number is going to drop. 88 degrees vineland and 77 now in Atlantic City so things have really started change as the rain is moving in, and it will continue to do so tomorrow. Now for the next ten days were going to be a little drier. Tomorrow and wednesday, and by drier i mean lower humidity so even though were in the upper 80s tomorrow and wednesday its going to be noticeably more comfortable, especially on wednesday and then we go into thursday, friday and even saturday. Temperatures could approach 100 degrees on saturday and thats not factoring in the humidity so im going with a high of 98. Well watch that as we go through the rest of the week but either way once we hit thursday more heat and more humidity into the weekend and then look as we go into next week the 90s are going to hang around and some afternoon thunderstorms as well. Well take a closer look at the radar and well keep track the storms for you coming up. The phillies are expecting a special visitor tonight. A live look at Citizens Bank park and hell be behind the fils dugout this evening. Its been a long road for him to get there and now he just needs the weather to cooperate. Wow, sky force 10 over breaking news in Delaware County. The swift farms was damaged there by a storm that just moved through. Right across the street from the haverford ymck on eagle road. The store still remains open and there were no reports of injuries. A Police Officer in Delaware County shot seven times last month will show his support for the phillies tonight. 25yearold christopher dortmund will appear tonight. He volunteers with the fewer department. The suspect shooter still remains in jail and is charged with attempted murder. Citizens bank part where the fils take on the miami marlins. Gametime 7 05. Back to this. The wait is over. The republican National Convention is under way right now as we speak. This convention will come to order. The gathering started with the sound of a gavel but not everyone was there to hear t. Jim rosenfield has that story live from cleveland next. He could install your ceiling fan. Ce said he couldnt. And that one time ron said another chili dog was a good idea. Yeah, it wasnt. So when ron said youd never afford a john deere tractor, you knew better. Now ron does too. The e series. Legendary john deere quality. Unexpected low price. E series compact tractors come with an industrybest, sixyear, nocost powertrain warranty. This was the scene about an hours ago. Heavy rain opened up in pennsauken. Heavy rain and wind made it difficult for drivers out there. The first alert radar lit up like a Christmas Tree all across the region. Heres a look at whats going on outside right now. Youre looking live at Citizens Bank park in south philadelphia. The rain looks like it has stopped and the sun is just beginning to peek out. Lets get a check of the weather right now and how its affecting you with our neighborhood forecast. Nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena par convenient with the late on these storms. Sheena . If youre in delaware, the storms are really affecting you and you want to take cover and get inside. Severe, kent county and Newcastle County and still dealing with a lot of lightning through some parts of Newcastle County and well zoom in here. All the Lightning Strikes crossing the delaware bay into parts of salem county and lower Alloway Creek seeing lot of lightning. Could be looking at localized street and creek flooding here and well watch these storms as they move into south jersey. Otherwise we have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of kent county including dover until 6 15 and thats all top of smyrna right now. All moving east to around 40 hours or so. Vineland 5 49 and commercial by 6 02, so, again, these storms that are moving into delaware or through delaware at the moment will be moving into south jersey and i dont expect them to weaken too much. They are fairly strong and they are holding on to the strength. Lightning strikes, almost 1,000 within the past 15 minutes in this area alone. 965 so this is a very strong storm. We could be looking at winds near 60 miles an hour and also the heavy rain and the precip rate is about 289 3 4 inches per hour, almost 3 inches per hour so the threat of flooding exists as we go into Newcastle County and salem county and the area still flooding. Localized streets and if youreyear is prone to flooding you probably are seeing flooding in these sections. That will go until 6 15. Never drive through flooded roadways. Now were looking in new jersey closer to the shore. We have lines of heavy rain and thunderstorms right near vineland across the ac expressway and just north of Atlantic City. Coming up well keep tracking the storms for you and for the rest of the area this evening, let you know where youre heading and also some hot temperatures still in the forecast this week. Were going to be back in the 90s even though well a little cooldown now with the rain. Ill show you that coming up. Sky force 10 over Delaware County. This is in may havertown. Reporter speaking before michigans republican delegates outside cleveland new Jersey Governor Chris Christie scolded prominent members of the gop who arent supporting donald trump. I signed that pledge. Reporter the pledge christie referred to is one he and other former republican president ial candidates signed to back the partys eventual nominee. Reporter former Florida Governor jeb bush is among those not attending the rnc in cleveland, neither are his brother and father, the former bush president s. Also absent, pennsylvania u. S. Senator pat toomey who is campaigning for reelection and two former new jersey governors, tom cane and christie whitman. Lets see what its going to do and well know that after the convention is over. Thats where the heaviest rain is and theres a lot of lightning from dover over to smyrna and across 13 going right through delaware. Lightning strikes 818 in the past 15 minutes. Not too different from before, so were still seeing a very strong thunderstorm here in delaware and moving into south jersey. Also dont forget while were up here tracking the storms, your sevenday forecast is right at the bottom of the screen for you. Not just delaware dealing with the thunderstorms. Its actually new jersey as well especially closer to the shore. Dealing with heavy showers and storms and lightning and heavy rain. Thats going to be the main threat here as these all move into new jersey so the lightning again very dangerous with those severe thunderstorms. Were expecting winds near 60 miles an hour and already showed you a lot of damage earlier with strees snapped and even localized flooding, so aside from the lightning and damaging winds were also looking that the flooding across the area so localized street and creek flooding. Definitely a concern through new jersey and delaware and what we even saw earlier was new jersey was dealing with the heavy rain which has then lightened up but now were seeing it heavier again closer to the shore so the main concerns until 8 00 tonight will be heavy rain and potentially damaging winds and lightning, the possibility of hail and still in a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 00 tonight. At that time new jersey and delaware will be dealing with the heavy rain and thunderstorm activity, again, some of which could be strong but main area that were real keeping our eye on is dell way, parts of kent county, especially around dover right now and as we go into south jersey so these are all areas that well be watching for the next couple of hours here so well update you on this.
