A lot of talk of a brokered convention for the republicans aof the john kasichs big win in ohio. What does this mean, whom would it knafavor . What this means is that the candidate, one of the candidates hasnt reached the necessary 1237 delegates during the primary and caucus process. So they come to the convention and during that first round of voting during the convention, the candidates will have an ability to try to garner support of uncommitted delegates there at convention. If they dont get to all 1237 after that round, then chaos ensues, because at that point a lot of states delegates can change votes. They will continue to vote round by round until they get to the magic 1237. Theres a current rule now in ht Republican Party that requires candidates that are being considered at convention to have won eight states. And presently only one candidate thats won eight. Theres a lot of game to be played before we get there. That candidate, donald trump, has something to say about the brokered convention today. Listen. The big story how many people are voting in these primaries. Numbers are astronomical. If you disenfranchise those people and say sorry, youre 100 votes short though the next one is 500 votes short, i think youll have problems like youve never seen before. What do statements like this do to trumps chances of winning the nomination . I think its overstated, there will be problems like youve never seen before but it could pose a real problem for the Republican Party because if Party Leaders go against the will of the people and voters that have voted time and time again for a particular candidate and feel disaffected by the fact they have circumvented that candidate during the general election they may not come out to vote because they may not be enthusiastic about the candidate.
