Thousands of patients personal information compromised. The Womens Health care group of pennsylvania sent letters to patients about the potential impact files that could have been hacked include the name, Social Security number, lab tests and other information. We found out how this happened and what people need to know if you think you could be at risk. The Womens Health care group of pennsylvania told us it has no comment on this it data breach. This as we had questions about how this massive data breach involving some sensitive patient information could have happened. On the third floor of this medical office, those running the Womens Health care group of pennsylvania have nothing to say. Theres a level of infuruation. After getting this letter from the medical office detailing what was stolen. Race, employer, Insurance Information and physician. The Womens Health care group operates out of hospitals across the area providing Health Services for women. It notes the information was stolen by hackers as far back as january 2017. But they didnt discover it until may 16th and didnt notify patients until july. It concerns me that it took them that long. It is highly sensitive information. Security expert say this is type of information is like gold to identity thieves. The medical information stolen can be used for selling to other hacker and criminal groups. Nation states love to get this kind of information because they will use it for future social engineering or exploitation of american citizens. The Health Care Group has filed a report with the fbi and is offering families like higgins a year of identity protection. Somebody who breaches information can sit on information for a year or two years. So maybe access three years from now. We dont know. Now the Womens Health care group of pennsylvania says it sent letters to each affected patient, but outside headquarters, we met several patients who didnt know about this security breach. When we asked about it, we were told no comment. Nbc 10 first alert weather tracking the chance for a few shower this is afternoon. Shouldnt be as much rain as we saw last night. Still a a threat for wet weather. Storms caused travel trouble for many in our area this morning. And delaware where half a dozen roads were closed were wider. Parts of the road were cut off to traffic and crews cleaned up. The debris. To that hot weather, so many were complaining about, gone. It was noticeably cooler outside. Those are some nasty locking clouds. It looks a lot worse or more dangerous than it really is. We just have a lot of clouds coming down from the north and a bunch of showers. And they are fast moving showers. So you can get rained on, but its mostly for a few minutes with this kind of weather pattern. You can see them moving generally north to south and they are scattered around the area. Heres the futurecast through the rest of the afternoon and into the evening. Were still seeing the general flow from north to south. A lot of clouds around. And the showers you notice they hang around and will be with us for tomorrow too. No harness or anything did they use to get to the top of the bridge here. I want to draw your attention up there now. The cables you see there is what police use to get to the top of that bridge. They also made it dangerous for the officers that had to go up there and get them. The ben franklin bridge to. Apprehend two men that thought it would be a good idea. Ive never seen anything like that in my life. Its crazy. When the two men were spotted hundreds of feet atop the bridge, they tried to hide. We dont recollect this having happened before. John hanson says this is a serious concern not knowing what the two men had planned. Two individuals climbing cable and got to the top of the tower, they were dressed in black and carrying backpacks. When officers made it to the top, they arrested the man and brought them doin using a bridge elevator. They were not local. One from new york city and the other from ohio. In the meantime, the backpacks leaving police to believe they put officers in danger just to capture a picture. The top of the tower is 200 feet off the deck. The bridge itself is nearly 400 feet off the water. Its extremely dangerous for those individual who is are up there without Safety Equipment and as far as we know without training. And police havent had to deal with a lot of these types of incidents. They told us it was an unusual call, but fortunately nobody was injured. As for the two men, they face a long list of charges.
