Take a look around me. This is the Reason School has been closed for the entire week, there are sidewalks like this all across this city. The cleanup continues in reading, five days after being pounded with 30 inches of snow thats keeping students out of school for the entire week. I think it should be open. The streets are good now. I dont know why they closed the school schools. Reporter according to the district some streets havent been plowed to allow buses. Add to that the large mounds of snow on the corners and unshoveled sidewalks that could be dangerous for the 13,000 students who walk to school. I think its necessary for here because most of the kids walk and the sidewalks are very icy. Reporter using one week of snow days means there will only be two days for spring break. We had plans to go out of reading and now we cant go because of the school being closed for a week. A week. If we get more its probably you know, going to be then we got going into the summer. Reporter the superintendent says its the best one for student safety. I would rather have students safe, safe today and we give up days in the future versus potentially heading to funerals or hospitals in icy conditions like these. A similar situation in allentown the city hoped to have roads cleared yesterday but schools will be closed again tomorrow because of the snowcovered side streets and sidewalks. It would be after the morning rush. Were possibly seeing some flakes up toward the pocono mountains now. With a different weak weather system you can see this band of moisture on the radar, its weakening as it gets closer to allentown and has not reported reaching the ground elsewhere in pennsylvania. This is the area were watching for tomorrow. Its a weak cold front thats going to be coming through. In the meantime weve gotten in the 40s and a good bit of the area. But still in the upper 30s north and west. And as we go through the night tonight, temperatures going to go back down below freezing and some places as early as 6 00, 7 00, that will cause the refreezing of whatever melted during the day. Even in fill we go below freezing by midnight. We dont go very far below freezing but it will be that way and early tomorrow morning there will be some icy spots. You can see very light wind and a lot of clouds, the temperature only goes down slowly. Got a huge warmup on the way. We have new information about a threat against police in chester, a 23yearold man is now in custody, investigators tell us this is not connected to a threat against the Chester Upland School district that happened earlier this week. Nbc 10s Harry Hairston joins us live in chester with the latest from police. What have you learned . Reporter well, just left a News Conference a short time ago. Police tell me they are dealing with a dumb prank by a kid and vicious threats made by an adult. Police have charged david millborn in connection with posting threats on social media about killing chester police. He admitted that he made threats against the chester city officers and their families, that he posted that threat and he intended and hoped to carry out that threat. Reporter police say when they arrested millborn at his home yesterday he told cops he was waiting for them to arrest him. Police say millborn claims that he had a gun but they didnt find any. Investigators say he claimed he made the threats because police had arrested a 17yearold High School Student for allegedly posting threats to shoot up the Community Charter school and high school. They dont believe that. We do not believe they knew each other. They tracked down the 17yearold through her smart phone and searched her home. That search warrant led to an address, we then assembled a team of over 30 Law Enforcement officers that went to that address, surrounded that address. Reporter the District Attorney says that the 17yearold acted on a dare, she got through social media. You post something against Law Enforcement and their families, you post something against students in an educational facility, we are coming with our team of investigators. Reporter also told that the young girl the 17yearold is remorseful for what she did. The District Attorney tells me she will be charged as a juvenile. Reporting live, Harry Hairston, nbc 10 news. A student in a Bucks County School is facing charges, for allegedly posting threats against the school on social media. Police arrested the 17yearold bensalem girl after they say she threatened to shoot up the center for Student Learning Charter School in levittown yesterday. Threat to her followers during school hours. She confessed and is charged as a juvenile. In salem county one person died after a crash in oldmans township. You can see a mangled car and a truck on the side of the road. Heavy smoke poured out of this burning rowhouse in north philadelphia. Sky force 10 over dover street around noon today. We have not received word of injuries yet. New information on the murder of an elderly woman in mercer county. An autopsy revealed the victim died from head injuries, police found the body of the 73yearold in a front office of this east Windsor Township house tuesday. Investigators have been looking for her daughterinlaw who they say is distraught. They have not named her a suspect but they want to talk to her about the murder. An end to the Death Penalty in the first state. Right now the state house is voting on a bill that could make that a reality. So by tomorrow morning early, there was ice around where you were this morning, theres likely to be ice around the same spots tomorrow. Were tracking a few snow showers, doesnt look like its going to amount to a lot. But see a few snowflakes after what we got, you want to know about it. Theres a big warmup on the way. Ill tell you that. Temperatures in the 50s for multiple days. We have high clouds right now. We saw fair amount of sunshine today, it is 42 degrees, a little above average for the temperature. The wind out of the southsouthwest at 8 trying to warm us up there. And were not that warm, 34 lancaster, the snow cover is, its only 37 in allentown and read, 39 in pottstown and trenton. But farther to the south closer to the shore, and with the snow melted, its not as cold in Atlantic City at the airport at 44 degrees. And yes, the snow has melted in at least part of the area. As we go through the hourly temperatures in philadelphia, kind of levels off. Levels off below the freezing mark. So, freezing is freezing, and you may see some icy spots in the morning. This is the snow cover thats left. You can see southern delaware and extreme south jersey has seen it all melt. But as we head up the Delaware River theres still some significant snow in northern delaware, the blue is six inches or more. And the purple is 10 inches or more. You dont see that in the philadelphia area anymore so thats quite a change even from yesterday. But all of the Lehigh Valley basically still has more than 10 inches but the areas of more than 16 inches had disappeared. So everybody seeing some melting. There is that weak system coming through now. This is a little bit stronger one back to the west. You can see these flakes pretty unimpressive. This area not exactly a big storm or anything. But it could produce some snow showers during the day tomorrow. Watch as we go through the night tonight, as temperatures drop below freezing. Not as cold as last night. And then into tomorrow mornings rush were in the 20s across most of the area. And then there you go, some of the scattered snow showers, temperature above freezing when this happens, in the middle of the day and into the afternoon. So, you can get some rain showers toward the shore, some snow showers elsewhere, looks like it will not be enough to do any kind of harm. And just melt and be blowing in the wind. I didnt feel no compassion for the guy who killed my son. I was feeling for my son who was not here who didnt do anything to cause him being shot viciously. They believe in an eye for the eye, you commit the ultimate crime you should get the ultimate punishment. In dover today. This is the right time to do the right thing. Reporter many are making a push to convince legislatures to end the Death Penalty. They argue the state should be better than the people who commit the crime. Question of we have to ask is not do people deserve to die for the crimes. Thats not the right question. Is question is do we deserve to kill. The state troopers, they believe the Death Penalty should be in place for a certain top tier of violent criminals. We believe that it does serve somewhat as a deterrent, we believe it is in place only to go after the worst of the worst. Temperatures now above freezing except for mount pocono at 31, so we will be seeing the refreeze again tonight across most of the area, and that means that whatever looks wet is likely to be icy and you can have some accidents and slips and falls and that sort of thing with that refreeze in the morning. We got quite a warmup and wait until you see that in a few minutes. Thank you, glenn. The death of a man who fought with a septa Police Officer has been ruled accidental. Authorities stay omar lopez died of a drug overdose. He died back in october minutes after an officer tased him outside the huntington station. Lopez wrestled and bit the officer before the taser was used. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital. Police in south jersey are offering a 2500 reward to turf vandals who damaged a Catholic Church earlier this month. This is a look at what they left behind at st. Lawrence church. The vandals broke several stained glass windows and damaged the crucifix. The crime cost the Church Thousands of dollars. The local Catholic Church is counting on its members to be extra generous and giving. The archdiocese of philadelphia announced an increased fundraising goal for its 2016 Catholic Charities appeal. You can see moisture off the east coast that is headed out to sea. This is a weak system coming through now, a little bit stronger one back across the great lakes. You can see a little bit on the radar, indicating some very light snow. Even that is weakening. This area producing some light snow across parts of the great lakes, just about to get into northwestern ohio. As we go through the night tonight of course going to drop below freezing, in most of the area, the average low temperature is in the 20s. Nothing unusual. We got all that snow. Weve got to deal with it. Then by tomorrow morning were in the 20s across most of the area. Some 30s toward the shore where there is isnt snow around. And then as we go through the day tomorrow you can see some scattered areas of generally light snow showers, the other thing you notice is the temperatures above freezing, maybe way above freezing and yes, you can have snow at 40 degrees, 41 degrees. Obviously does not stick on the ground even the 38 degrees now isnt enough to stick. But couple of showers in south jersey and then thats it. As the front moves through that is the end of the threats for quite a while. Now, you can see the arctic air, thats getting out of here. Even the cold air is going to be disappearing. Mild air coming back as we go into sunday and next week, and boy, it is really going to get mild out there. 28 degrees for the low in philadelphia. 22 north and west. The refreezing toward day break and during the day tomorrow. Could notice the wind. Thats going to be the main thing. 15 to 25 gusting to 40. Viewers observing the predawn sky tomorrow will be able to see a lineup of planets stretching from the southeastern portion of the sky all the way over into the southwestern portion of the sky. This view shows us what the sky will look like tomorrow morning. We can see the moon will be right between jupiter and mars, and on mond member first, two days later next to saturn and by february 6 on saturday, next to venus and mercury. If you step outside and look toward the southern sky, youll be able to see brilliant venus over to your left, and youll be able to see the moon and jupiter off to the right. Take advantage of that.
