You can see the road is in pretty good shape compared to others that have not seen plows. And sky force 10 capture add birdseye view of the roads in Montgomery County. Crews used front loaders to remove snow on eastbound 76 near 202 in king of prussia this afternoon. The goal, to clear all lanes of the highways to ease congestion there. Now were talking about rain on the way. Could make for an even messier day outside. Nbc 10 first alert radar showing the rain off to the west. That could pose an icy threat later on tonight when the sun goes down. Sheena parveen is tracking that rain. You know, the rain around now is still rain, it is nothing of a wintry mix or anything like that. Temperatures are well above freezing. Its north and west of philadelphia across the major interstates here so there you see it moving through lancaster and chester counties, near charles town across 76, thats where we have some light rain falling. So well continue watching this small area of rain, that should be moving through the philadelphia area soon. There you see more moisture down to our south and west. This is about as bad as it gets on these side streets, a little bit of icing, a little bit of snow on the roads but for the most part the main road completely clear, looking at about 1400 miles of road thats needing to be plowed over the past 72 hours throughout camden county. They had more than 100 trucks to do that work. This is were talking about 72 hours of continuous plowing here in camden county. As of now they say they are focusing just on clearing up the intersections and widening lanes, weve seen it day after day, yesterday in news force 10 we were in allentown where they were down to one lane where most of the time the streets were two lanes. Here in cherry hill not a problem. Most of the lanes are open, they are clear. And they are not having too many problems here in camden. Fattahs lawyers told the judge at first they were excited to take on a high profile case. But now they want off of it because the congressman is not paying his bill. The defense attorney said fattah failed to make a payment in full last november. He says fattah promised to make good on the payment but never did. Today fattah told the judge he supports his attorneys desire to withdraw because they cannot agree to the payment arrangements he wants which will require them to go without payment for an extended period of time. The congressman told nbc 10 last week he was focusing his Fundraising Efforts on his Reelection Campaign and would deal with his court case after the april election. The judge questioned that the motion to withdraw the law firm is attempt delay the may 2 trial. Both the attorneys and fattah deny any such motive. The issue is i cant meet a payment arrangement that requires me to short change my reelection effort, right, in order to meet a burden to pay a law firm for a trial that may or may not actually take place on may 2. Fattah says hes paid out 300,000 in legal fees so far. 110,000 of that he says to his current defense team. He says currently hes looking for a law firm that can work with his financial situation. Then we go into the weekend and we get milder so even more melting is going to be taking place. Live look out at center city, snow of course still there, but its slowly starting to melt. Thats going to create problems again tonight in philadelphia 49 degrees is the temperature, we are well above freezing, warmer than we were yesterday, so with this we only expect the rain showers right now. With that rain moving in, so at this point we wouldnt be seeing the freezing on the roadways, allentown at 41 degrees, 42 in reading, 45 pottstown,flq 46 in west chester, even the poconos, near 50 for bensalem. 51 in millville, 52 Atlantic City. What we are seeing again just rain showers across the area. So thats what we see mostly north and west of philadelphia. And later on tonight with the showers kind of continuing, were pushing south, we could see a bit of a wintry mix, that would have to be pretty late tonight. If some of these last north and west of philadelphia we could see a wintry mix there or maybe freezing rain. But currently in Chester County were seeing it across 76 the light rain, this continues into parts of montgomery breaking up your spotty sprinkles across 47 aches and parts of the p. A. Turnpike. That will be moving into the philadelphia area, but you see moisture down to our south and west. Theres not a lot of it moving in this direction, so really what were going to see is just light showers moving through. We could see another area moving into new jersey and delaware so kind of pushing to the south and east. Temperatures could still be well above freezing in these areas. No one apparently saw the ice left behind on i78 in berks county from freezing rain and suddenly small accidents created big ones. In the backlog you have other crashes. I cant say for sure which crash was which because you know these guys have a lot of work to do here, documenting 11 crashes. Reporter by 7 45 this morning the tangle of cars and tractortrailers stretched from tilden township to bethel and greenwich in berks county. On the closed access highway notorious for hours long backups, drivers were trapped. There is no place to go when things start crashing like on a back country road the cars can end up in a field. Pennsylvania police say they would try to get stuck cars off of i78 at an exit but thats assuming the troopers could even get there in the first place. We either have to sit in the backlog or if we have if were confident to know that the whole road is blocked we can come down the wrong way. That could be dicey too. The metro system is up and running after two days shut down. It could take days for everything to get back to normal. The blizzard is blamed for at least 44 deaths on the east coast. Some died in car accidents, others from Carbon Monoxide poisoning and many others from heart attack shoveling snow. At least eight of those who died were in pennsylvania. Three were in new jersey, and one in delaware. Police in delaware looking for a thief they say targeting the elderly offering to shovel snow for them. Investigators say these are surveillance pictures of the suspect using a stolen credit card at a convenience store. A 76yearold victim said the suspect offered twice to shovel her snow. The suspect forced her way in and took credit cards and cash. From the south jersey bureau, police hope you can recognize a wanted burglar who had a runin with a homeowner. They released this sketch. He entered a home on Evergreen Avenue last tuesday night and stole jewelry. During that time the homeowner returned and confronted the suspect who then took off. So not a lot of moisture here to deal with but were seeing some light rain showers, right across 76 near east whiteland township, near phoenixville, the major interstates in Montgomery County like 476 and the p. A. Turnpike, norristown, hatfield seeing the light rain, and that continues into upper bucks county. Wider view showing the stream of moisture coming in from the southeast, this is part of a cold front. So for tonight were going to keep the rain chance in the forecast. Its going to push into new jersey and delaware. We see it clearing up tomorrow. Here is future weather. Temperatures above freezing, and then later on tonight, 7 00 p. M. Were going to see a chance of showers but notice how most areas still above freezing. Then we go into 10 00 tonight, areas of new jersey and delaware i think would have the best chance for rain at this point. Maybe around philadelphia. But well have to watch this closely. I dont think temperatures will be dropping below freezing at this point for philadelphia or new jersey and delaware. But north and west we could see these numbers dropping down so well have to watch that closely for moisture that make extend that way tomorrow morning. As it looks 5 00 tomorrow morning most of the rain or possibly a wintry mix in cases could be in extreme south jersey and delaware. Well keep our eye on the moisture if its going to be continuing to spread north and west. Should be moving away. By afternoon will be around 40 degrees and drying, we go into thursday and thats where well see colder temperatures in the morning in the 20s, so refreezing. Still a chilly pattern as we go into the weekend. But look at whats going to happen. Well see a bit of a change, the jet stream starts to lift up farther to the north which means that well get the warm air to the south of it so early next week were talking about temperatures nearing 50 degrees. They are focused on the smaller residential side streets, they plan to have all streets passable by the end of tomorrow. Nbc 10s Rosemary Connors has been tracking cleanup crews as they make their way across the city. People who dont live in that 80 got to be frustrated. Reporter they are.
