So far no one in custody. Lets get right to brandon hudson, he joins us live from the scene in camden, how did this happen . Reporter doctors work to keep the 8yearold girl alive. It happened outside her home here on spruce street. Across the street is a police cruiser. Thats the closest that police will let us at this hour. Down the street it can be tough to see because of the light. But down the street, police are looking for clues that will lead to any suspects. We were standing at the intersection of ninth and spruce streets when we saw investigators searching the sidewalk for evidence. Another group of police were in front of the little girls house. Sometime tonight the girl was hit and paramedics took her to cooper hospital. She was having surgery, but at last check from the police chief, its not looking promising. We spoke to a neighbor who heard the shooting. The i thought it was firecrackers to tell you the truth. It was so many of them. It was so close by the windows, i actually seen the light. But just to hear that, its a shame, to hear a little girl in the mix of all of this, get shot. I cant even imagine what shes going through at this point in time. I assured her that were going to do everything we can to bring the cowards responsible for this, bring them to justice and hold them accountable for their actions. Reporter that was the Camden County police chief. The police are also looking at Surveillance Video for any leads. The girls mom is with her at cooper hospital. There was a 5. 2 aftershock an hour later, one of the youngest victims, 18 months old, the mother was also pulled from the rubble who survived a 2009 earthquake that killed 300 people. Closer to home, one of the National Italian american foundations is working on plans to help the towns damaged by this earthquake. Nbc 10 met with the chairman of the Italian American the foundation. He said last nights major earthquake was similar to the one in 2009. He said that the group will meet with the Italian Embassy in washington, d. C.
