Someone fired dozens of bullets at adults sitting in a car. The shots hit shiply and two of her teenage relatives. You knew there was kids out there. No remorse, no nothing. They didnt care. New at 11 00, one person is recovering after fire ripped through a West Philadelphia home tonight. Fire crews were called to this home on north 55th street around 7 00. One person had to be rescued from a room on the third story. Officials say the fire started on the first floor. One person who was inside at the time of the fire had to escape to a second story window. I thought it was fire right there. They say when you see smoke, its fire. I figured smoke, fire. I couldnt see to get on the floor. Everything was black. The window was my best option. She says a pot left unattended on the stove may have started the fire. The official cause is under investigation. Also new at 11 00, a Murder Investigation in Montgomery County tonight. Police were called to a home on south 6th street in north wales just after 4 00 p. M. Today for a domestic disturbance. They found a 67yearold man shot to death in the garage. Were told Police Arrested someone in connection to the shooting but its not clear yet what that relationship is between the suspect and the victim or what led to the shooting. A Burlington County teenager is dead after police say a drunk driver hit him as he was walking home just after 12 00 this morning. That happened along a dangerous stretch of route 130 south at the intersection of east Federal Street in burlington. Thats where we find andrea klinethomas with a closer look at what happened. They have been repairing the pole that the car smashed into, the victim in this deadly crash is 17yearold an twtwon tim bt. He was leaving the wawa when he was struck and killed. I watched it unfold. Reporter this woman says she witnessed the deadly crash on route 130 south and east Federal Street. She returned hours later to see what happened to everyone involved. I seen the black he truck ju the curb, hit the pole they are putting back up and hit the guy. I seen him laying on the ground. Reporter her mother called 911. But 17yearold antwon died at the scene. He was walking home with his friends. He was a good kid, quiet, real respectable. Reporter he came in a few times. The shop is at the intersection. They said they have seen problems there before. Dangerous intersection. Something needs to be done about it. Reporter in this case, a 42yearold was arrested and charged with dui and reckless driving. Antwons father said the 17yearold was excited about starting a new job and had hopes of joining the military. In an instant, it was taken away. His friend who was with him was not injured. His father says he was a junior at Burlington City high school. Grief counselors will be at the school tomorrow. The lights are back on society hill tonight after an underground cable malfunctioned, forced Power Outages and evacuations. Power was returned to everyone in the past 15 minutes or so. Neighbors telling us they woke up to a loud boom that shattered windows around 1 00 this morning. More than 120 homes lost power. An underground cable was burning and the pressure forced a manhole cover to pop off. Showers passed through our area throughout the day today. It was better than yesterday. Not warm for this time of year but warmer than everywhere else. 55 in bethlehem now and allentown. 57 in reading with clear skies is. Temperatures should drop pretty nicely during the night. You can see nothing left on the radar close to the philadelphia area. We have showers in delaware and extreme south jersey. This is the area thats been hit the hardest over the weekend. The coolest temperatures. The most amount of clouds. You can see circulation around there. The upper air system thats brought this nasty weather is not moved out yet. We start off the day with maybe a little sunshine. But by afternoon, there are showers, maybe even thunderstorms breaking out. Pa suburbs, thunderstorms by 4 00. We may get into the 70s in parts of the area. A little more sunshine in the pennsylvania suburbs and Lehigh Valley. But delaware and in much of new jersey you could see showers as early as noon and then some more by 4 00 in the afternoon. Less rain around the jersey shore. From the nbc 10 south jersey bureau, a Police Officer faces up to five years in prison after pleading guilty to sex assault charges. He was in court last week. He admitted he used his position as a Police Officer to sexually assault a 16yearold girl. He has been suspended without pay since his arrest back in may of 2014. His sentencing is set for july 1st. From the nbc 10 delaware bureau, students and parents gathered today. They held a vigil less than a week after brandon killed. He was shot as he walked down the street after school let out this past thursday. He was just 15 years old. Brandons Grade School Principal said they are still trying to make sense of what happened. This is a safe place to feel all of the things and be with each other. Especially in the face of a city that isnt safe or doesnt feel safe at the moment. A memorial has been set up on the street where brandon died. His killer remains at large. To central pa where a bucks county girl is dead after falling off the roof of a home. Officials say 21yearold Shannon Mathers died after gathering a high voltage wire. She died from electrocution. She was from warrington. Her death is being called an accident. New information in a case of a man accused of taking pictures up womens skirts in delaware county. Upper darby police say bobby hayden is behind bars tonight. One incident was caught on video. Police say he is the man you see here snapping pictures up a womans skirt in the pretzel factory on may 10. Investigators say he did the same thing to another woman last thursday in media. Six years ago, philadelphia was the epicenter of a labor trafficking bust. Records case the problem persists. George spencer discould haved, top prosecutors havent taken a single new case to trial since then. I didnt have place to stay. So i slept on that box. Reporter for this woman, even homelessness, sleeping on a park bench, was a step up from the terror she escaped, terror that lingers. It is in my mind. It will not go away. Reporter she came to the United States from indonesia in 2001 to work as a hotel waitress. But starting the day she arrived, she says a different reality took shape. Forced sex work and forced labor, mostly cleaning homes. She still hears her traffickers commands. Clean. Do that. Do this. Clean it. Clean it. Reporter clean it . Clean it. Work, work, work. Reporter cases like hers are likely happening right before our eyes right now. In this home in the early 2000s, these brothers housed young victims recruited in their native ukraine with promises of a chance to live near the liberty bell. These guys were known there. Yeah. They were known to the victims. Reporter when the victims arrived, they slept on old, dirty mattresses, we rarely paid and ate out of of a common pot, sitting on the floor. You could hear a win drop when they were describing what happened. Reporter the victims worked as janitors in Major Chain Stores like walmart and target, seen by many of us and yet hidden bit routine nature of their work. Trafficking takes place in secret. It hides in plain sight. Reporter the secrets make it difficult to track. Just since 2012, among hundreds of hotline calls, advocates identified 78 cases of labor trafficking in pennsylvania, 61 cases in new jersey and four in delaware. Many of the victims worked in Domestic Service or hospitality, like housekeepers at hotels. In construction, in restaurants and in agriculture, ranging from lawn service to farm work. But philadelphia has seen no labor trafficking prosecutions since the brothers. We really have what i would call black hole enforcement. Reporter this woman has studied labor trafficking extensively and interviewed dozens of victims, including some from our region. The nbc 10 investigators took her claim directly to the top. We havent had as much success as i would like. Reporter the u. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of pennsylvania acknowledges every one of us has likely encountered a victim in the philadelphia region. But says most victims stay quiet because of language barriers, mistrust of Law Enforcement and lingering fear of their traffickers. I know that we have a dedicated group of prosecutors, a dedicated group of agents working very hard to investigate and prosecute these cases. Reporter why has it been so hard to bring them to trial . I think the reality is, it comes back to one, you got to identify the victims. Reporter based on her interviews, owens believes many victims are more willing to testify than prosecutors claim. But ultimately, she says its up to the public to ask who is serving our food, working at our hotels or cleaning our homes. The more you point to the perpetrator, you more you are pointing back to yourself. Because you are a part of this. Reporter for this woman, escape at this home, climbing through a window. Her nightmare has become her mission as she now advocates for other victims. This problem, this issue is our problem whether you know, you dont know, this is our responsibility. Reporter four of the five brothers are in federal prison serving terms up to 20 years. What can you do . Keep an eye out for people who have no contact with friends or family, homes with inhumane Living Conditions and any worker with excessive or unusual hours. All could be indications of trafficking.
