That situation is much improved before the rush and the increased volume to come along with the morning commute. Taking a look at the drive times now all in the green, these are the normal problem spots. I do anticipate within the next hour these will continue to slow down, but for right now things are looking pretty good. If you are traveling on mass transit, everything is on or close to schedule. Chris . And breaking news in california right now where police in san jose are trying to track down this man. They are warning residents there to stay inside their homes for safety. Scott dunham is his name accused of shooting and killing officer Michael Johnson when the officer responded to an apartment complex for a suicide call. Johnson is a 14year veteran of the San Jose Police department. He died as the scene. In wisconsin a similar story with a suspect in a bank robbery shot and killed a state trooper overnight. That trooper was following a car to match the description of the robbery suspects car. The suspect and trooper exchanged gunfire. Both were killed. The police are not looking for any other suspects there. And back here at home a shooting in philadelphia led to a police chase this morning. And that ended with Police Shooting a suspect here in the citys nicetown neighborhood. Two shootings scenes this morning. And matt delucia is at Police Headquarters following the investigation. Matt this of course happened after monday when the department of justice said Philadelphia Police need to do something to produce policeinvolved shootings, right . Reporter thats right, chris. The department of justice said that philly police need to be better trained and have more interaction with the public. And in just a little more than 24 hours after that we have another policeinvolved shooting. Well go ahead to show you the scene here of last night, 17th and cuyahoga streets where someone on the corner unloaded a hail of gunfire on a minivan. At least 15 bullets. A man inside the van was hit several times. Police show up on the scene and find another guy in the backseat who has two guns on him and tries to run. When the cops start to chase him, then this happened according to police. He turns he points the weapon in a direction of both officers. Thats why one officer discharged his weapon. Striking the suspect in the torso. That man was shot three times but both men are expected to survive. Reporter at the moment they are trying to figure out if the man shot at by police was the one who first unloaded on the minivan. So detectives want to talk to both men to find out exactly what happened here. And if they need to be looking for any more suspects. The brothers accused of gunning down a Philadelphia Police officer have a Court Hearing today. Carlton hicks and Ramon Williams face murder charges after they tried to rob the gamestop in north philadelphia on march 5th. Sergeant Robert Wilson iii was in the store at the time. Then Sergeant Wilson was killed. Don tollefson sold fake sports trips promising that the money would go to charity. Tollefsons lawyers argued against prison time yesterday. Philadelphia police are trying to piece together the timeline of a murder mystery. Yesterday afternoon investigators found a womans body in a shallow grave near the frankford ltrain and believe the woman in her 30s was likely killed over the weekend when police tried to question the womans boyfriend about that grave, witnesses say he took off. Here you see cell phone video after officers used a taser to stop the man. They have him in custody. No charges have been filed. The coatsville city Council Passed a budget to vote to keep taxes at the current levels there. The council rejected an earlier Budget Proposal back in september as it looks for ways to cut spending. The new budget eliminates vacant staff positions in the city and the change from certain positions from fulltime to parttime. The budget passed by a narrow 43 vote. And the School District plans to pass next years budget totalling less than 300 million. It calls for eliminating 226 positions including teachers custodians and administrators and the district would close the school. The School Officials need the layoffs to close the 17 million budget gap. The school slated to close for the 2015 school year is monument elementary on pentington avenue in trenton. They see more violators the on the roads these days drivers say. It seems that its becoming more and more epidemic. The way theyre driving. And it is just getting faster and more reckless. Police chiefs from across new jersey showed support for former Cape May Police chief rob sheehan at last nights city councilman. Earlier he was demoted to captain because of an Ongoing Investigation by the Prosecutors Office looking into improper use of comp time by another member of the department. The council decided last night it will wait until that investigation is complete before considering reinstating sheehan as police chief. A Bankruptcy Court judge set a new date for considering the latest attempt to sell a former revel casino to florida developer glenn straub. Earlier she said she didnt have the jurisdiction to approve the earlier sale because the deal originally changed. Now the date is april 2nd. And a task to get Atlantic City back on its feet is recommending spending cuts and layoffs. The Emergency Management team appointed by governor Chris Christie recommends cutting city expenses by 10 million and said mediators should handle the disputes with casinos and unions but they didnt represent bankruptcy for Atlantic City. But if they dont act right away, the casino resort will have major financial trouble for the foreseeable future. And a Branch Campus at the former casino has hit a road block. The owners of the taj are enforcing a 1988 agreement between the casino owners to require the showboat property only to be used at a first class casino resort. Stocktons University President says, we are still working to resolve the issue with trump taj mahal. Should that not work we are making plans to sell the property and hope that we will be able to close reasonably soon. Trump entertainment has not commented. Theres new controversy this morning surrounding Governor Tom Wolfs tip to lead police. They found a racist letter in the mailbox that reads, no nlover will ever wear my uniform and is signed didnt daunt. Recently some retired troopers criticized brown for wearing the state Police Uniform even though he didnt graduate from the State Police Academy. They also criticized him for removing road signs critical of him. Now, the signature on the letter is an apparent reference to a slogan popular with those critics. The slogan saying if you didnt graduate from the State Police Academy you dont wear the state Police Uniform. Governor wolfs Office Issued a statement saying quote, it is very troubling that this letter was placed in colonel browns mailbox and the message contained within the letter is disturbing. This entire matter is concerning for colonel brown and his family. Governor wolf continues to monitor this situation. Its 5 47. A sinkhole swallowed up an suv in Middlesex County and forced several families from their homes. Investigators say it was a water main break to cause the ground to open up on gordon street in south amboy. An suv now sits at the bottom of the muddy hole. Three homes had to be evacuated. Authorities say the structures dont appear to be in immeant danger danger but residents wont be allowed back in until earlier today. A pair of sinkholes also continue to cause problems in plymouth road while they try to figure out what caused this mess. The initial sinkhole opened earlier this month along a bridge that carries thousands of cars a day in plymouth township. A second was found nearby days later. It is cold outside. Ill work to find out more information to see if its slowing thing down. But theres not a lot of volume out there at this hour. Thats what we are seeing in the drive times, 95 southbound to the vine street expressway will take you 13 minutes. 12 minutes if you are headed in the other direction. Again, that problem on interstate 76 were going to work to find out more information about that. Heres interstate 295 at route 70, traffic is moving along quite nicely with the Road Conditions clear. Tracy . This morning a house needs some Major Repairs after a school bus slammed into it. And were hearing from the girl who helped get her classmates off of the school bus. The 11yearold girl was among nine students on their way to st. Helenas Elementary School when the bus crashed on whitpain township. No one in the house was hurt but that girl says that her bus safety drills taught her what to do. I saw some adults and was just like help us please. Then i saw the latch on the door and knew i couldnt do the up emergency exit so i did that emergency exit and just opened it and got out and was encouraging the kids i was like, come on you have to get out. Police arent sure why the driver lost control of the bus. Medics took him to the hospital yesterday and we have not been able to learn his condition. And the nbc 10 investigators found that taking the school bus is one of the safest ways to get to school but the riskiest part is boarding the bus. Stats show 80,000 drivers go by a school bus with the stop arm down on a daily basis. I think its everybodys job, not just the school bus drivers, but the general public when they see that. School bus coming to a stop they should stop. And, you know thats an important part of it as well. When it comes to questions about seat belts, buses built after 2001 have lap belts but have little effect on safety. If you live in montgomery county, you can text 911 during an emergency. The county commissioners approved a contract to set up the texting system up and running in may. This goal is to make this a regional problem. That means if you live in bucks county along with montgomery, you would also be able to text 911. Its not yet clear when or if that will happen. And there are amber alerts for missing children and silver alerts for missing seniors. Now lawmakers on capitalol hill are pushing for a blue alert.
