Breaking News Philadelphia Police arrest a man who pointed a shotgun at them. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live on scene in north philadelphia and matt this happened near 22nd and fox which is not far from where Sergeant Robert wilson iii was shot and killed right . Right. That was just a few blocks away from where this incident happened this morning. Officers were already on high alert and high guard. Take a look at some video we have for you around 1 00 this morning. A woman flagged down police up the road at 22nd and allegheny and says she saw a man with a large gun in his hand. Two officers see the man in front of a bar. They tell him to drop the gun and police say he then pointed the gun at them. Well one of the officers fired a shot. Now the man was not hit. He tried to escape by running in and out of the bar but police found him about three blocks away. The fact there was such close proximity to where officer wilson was shot and killed it definitely makes it for a much more stressful and much more scary situation. Reporter yeah, especially looking at the gun that this guy had at the time a. 12 gauge shotgun. Police think this man either wanted to rob the bar or try to settle a dispute that happened earlier in the evening. Fortunately no one was injured and people still being interviewed including the suspect, witnesses and the officer who fired the shot is being interviewed by internal affairs at this hour. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a house fire that killed one person. Sky force 10 was over the scene on south warknock street after 11 00 last night. At that point we didnt know if anyone had been hurt in the fire but this morning, we learned that someone died. We spoke to a neighbor who thought no one was at home when the fire started and learned about the death during our interview with them. [ inaudible ]. Never outside all that much. Our crews saw investigators examining the home this morning and have the area blocked off. Were following more breaking news this morning in the germantown section of philadelphia where several were hurt in a fire at a high rise apartment building. Nbc 10 was at the four freedoms apartment on morris street in german tourn the fire started on the eighth floor and the fire is under control. We dont know how it started. Medics did have to take several to hospital including a woman in her 60s were told had burns on 60 of her body. Were now working to find out how she and the others are doingp. 5 35. This morning Philadelphia Police have two teenagers in custody in connection with the murder of a man in overbrook. Still looking for a third teen who they believe pulled the trigger. Detectives released this picture yesterday to tyfine hamilton is a freshman at overbrook high school. Investigators say he and two other teens were playing basketball last thursday when they decided to rob someone. They say the boys went after 51yearold James Stuhlman out walking his dog on woodcrest avenue. They pulled the gun on him. He instantly turned. They said empty your products. He probably tried to reach out for them or whatever a slight struggle and then ultimately shot him. And he pleaded for his life. Police arrested 15yearold Brandon Smith and scharnlgdss charged him as an adult with murder and officers arrested a 14yearold on lesser charges. Police say they will not file criminal charges against the driver involved in last months fiery tanker truck crash. Sky force 10 over that scene in pennsauken on february 3rd. The truck carrying 8,000 gallons of fuel when it crushed to u. S. 130. The fire caused heavy damage to the road and also damage to nearby homes. Investigators say the driver brian urban, was going too fast around the ramp. Police issued several tickets for him for careless driving and illegal possession of multiple drivers licenses. Delaware governor jack markell says no new Charter Schools should be approved until a study is done on just what students need. Markell says education officials will do a comprehensive Needs Assessment to get that information. Once completed the state would come up with a plan for all how schools can offer Student Services they may not be getting. Governor markell says the state should not authorize new charters. From our south Jersey Bureau superintendent of schools is stepping down. Maureen reusche says shes resigning june 30th to take another job in education but we dont know where. They are calling it a medical miracle, doctors revived a toddler that didnt have a pulse more than 100 minutes. 292monthold boy is back in his mothers arms in union county pennsylvania, north of harrisburg. He fell into a creek, drifted downstream and a neighbor found him face down in the water. Medical crews air lifted him to a hospital where doctors worked on his body. His lifeless body. Along with having no pulse he wasnt breathing on his own. No signs of life for an hour and 41 minutes. I cant thank them enough. We feel very unworthy and very grateful. Now doctors say the boys temperature plummeted to 75 degrees and that actually slowed down all of his functions which gave him a chance at survival.
