The train runs between charlotte, North Carolina and new york city every day. It was headed north when it crashed into a semitrailer in halifax, North Carolina. Some of the passengers are surprised there werent more severe injuries. Oh my gosh oh my gosh reporter thats video of the amtrak train crashing into a tractortrailer yesterday afternoon in halifax, North Carolina. That train as we mentioned was on its way to philadelphia. Now North Carolina Highway Patrol said the truck was trying to make a turn, got stuck and wasnt able to move out of the way in time. Here are two people that were on the train. The business car was right on the edge and the dining car was right there. So we stopped with the wreckage right besides of us so we could see the tractortrailer right besides us. There were bruises and people that had to be lifted off the train and put onto a stretcher. There was a woman that was in the ladys room and, you know there was a father with a child in the bathroom. And the people that were in the dining area where there were just tables and stuff, it was it was im still trying to get over it. The manager of 30th street station says they have been busy trying to reschedule passengers. Amtrak says most trains will be operating normally in North Carolina today. Part of the affected route is uses buses instead. Call 1800usarail if you have a train coming or going to check the status. Well be keeping an eye throughout the morning. Something else to follow today, philadelphias District Attorney is expected to announce more corruption charges against state lawmakers who were accused of accepting bribes. They wont say who the latest lawmakers are but say the charges come from an undercover sting operation. Representatives ron waters and Vanessa Lowery brown are facing charges. And the Philadelphia Traffic Court judge pleaded guilty in december. The former chair of the philadelphia Reform Commission wont go to court to fight his removal. Bill green says he doesnt want legal matters to compromise support for the school district. Governor tom wolf announced last week that Marjorie Neff will take over as chair because she shares his vision for the district. New Surveillance Video shows thieves breaking into a van in broad daylight and Camden Police want you to take a good look at these guys. The men stole copper welding cable and connectors from the van on williams stream back on february 5th. One was wearing a paul v sweatshirt and the other is wearing a bright yellow jacket. Then we have new information this morning about the plane that skidded off the runway at new Yorks Laguardia airport. This morning pilots are walking us through what happened. The federal investigators say the pilots of the delta flight said they did not feel the plane slowing down even though the automatic brakes were on the max setting. They also said the flaps on the wings that helped to slow the plane had to be manually deployed. The plane skidded about 2,000 feet and almost went into a bay during that incident last week. And a toms river man whose pickup truck plunged through the frozen river in ocean county earlier this month is being charged with animal cruelty now. Police say andrew mayer drove onto the river to do doughnuts on the ice until his truck crashed through. Mayer escaped but his truck that was in the car died. Hes facing an animal cruelty charge now. And keep shoveling. The state Senate Committee cleared a bill to eliminate the need to buy a permit to shovel snow. The bill was drafted in response to vent reports that north Jersey Police told two teen shovellers they couldnt conduct a business without a permit. The red cross says they have seen a rise in fires this winter as people have tried to come up with creative ways to heat their homes.
