Lets start in Montgomery County with a live look at 422. This is right near route 29. Both directions just fine out there. Drive times on 422 between oaks and route 202 about seven minutes right now. This accident in worcester township, Montgomery County, just cleared. It was at stump hill road and green hill road, but youre good to go. This accident also cleared for drivers in new jersey, willingboro, rockland drive at roxborough place. But unfortunately, we have an accident were still following that happened in the overnight hours on the southbound side of the new jersey turnpike. As you approach the delaware memorial bridge, we still have two lanes blocked. Chris . This is the breaking news were following this morning. A pregnant woman and her baby shot and killed, a man fighting for his life. Philadelphia police are still looking for the person who pulled the trigger. The shooting happened this morning on the 1900 block of 20th street in the ogontz section of the city around 1 00 this morning. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live on scene for us there. Katy, we saw the evidence markers out there earlier, but do police at this point have any real idea of who fired those shots . Reporter at this point, they dont. They have a vague description of the shooter. Ill get to that in a minute, but chris, this is the second time in two weeks that Philadelphia Police have arrived at a scene of a deadly shooting and a pregnant woman, a woman eight months pregnant has been one of the victims. Now, right now, the Fire Department pulled up. Theyre going to clean up some of the evidence on the sidewalk. Police are getting ready to lift this scene. Theyll soon have this white vehicle out here towed. Its in this white car that the 25yearold woman and a 26yearold man were sitting at the corner of 20th and nedro streets in the ogontz neighborhood. Police say just before 1 00 this morning they got several reports of a shooting here. Officers were nearby and arrived within seconds of getting those calls. They drove both victims to the hospital, einstein Medical Center, just five blocks from here. The woman, eight months pregnant, had been shot four times, including in the head. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man who was with her Police Believe was her boyfriend, possibly the father of her unborn child. He was struck twice. He is expected to survive, though in critical condition. Doctors did an emergency delivery of the womans baby. The doctors did what they can. They delivered the baby, and they worked on the baby for over an hour, but the baby was pronounced dead at 2 18 a. M. And the information were receiving, its preliminary, but the female was eight months pregnant at the time. Reporter and as i said at the top of my report, police have a vague description of the shooter. Theyre being told about a man who was seen running south from here. Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses right now, some of those same people who called police when the shots were first fired. Fortunately, there are some surveillance cameras in the area, so detectives are trying to get their hands on video to see if the cameras captured the shooting happening. Again, were at the corner of 20th and nedro streets. The Fire Department its a little loud because they just pulled up. Theyre feet from us. Theyre going to be cleaning up some of the evidence on the sidewalk. Then a Police Tow Truck will come in and tow this white vehicle to the police impound lot. Detectives have, for all intents and purposes, finished their investigation of this scene, so theyll open this scene. Happening today, three bucks county residents accused of attacking a gay couple in center city are expected to turn themselves in to Philadelphia Police later this morning. Nbc 10s Monique Braxton is live outside central detectives. Tell us more, monique. Reporter tracy, attorneys representing the three suspects youre speaking about say in the next hour or so, they should arrive here at central detectives. Now, the suspects allegedly attacked a gay couple earlier this month. D. A. Seth williams approved arrest warrants yesterday against three people seen in this Surveillance Video that not only went viral but helped detectives identify the suspects. D. A. Williams says 24yearold philip williams, 26yearold Kevin Harrigan and 24yearold katherine knott, all from bucks county, attacked a gay couple here at 16th and chancellor. The trio is now charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and conspiracy. Not everyone was involved in the situation, so it was one of those things of getting everyone in, questioning everyone, interviewing and talking to a number of different witnesses and anybody who was possibly there during this incident and sorting out and weeding out who was involved, who took part in the assault and then moving forward from there. We got the update, and you know, it got to the point where even a girl hit us. Reporter that girl, knott, is the daughter of chalfonts police chief, according to sources. The victims showed us their injuries when talking about the attack. They say it occurred after someone in the group asked if they were a couple. Both were treated and released from the local hospital. The attack, though described by police here as a hate crime isnt, because pennsylvania law doesnt cover sexual orientation. In the next hour, were working on how the Lgbt Community is working to change pennsylvania law. Live outside central detectives, Monique Braxton, nbc 10 news. Now the latest on the casino crisis. Revel casino hotel could soon have a new owner. It goes up for auction later this morning. Revel Officials Say it has received multiple bids but only ones been made public so far. Thats that 90 million offer from a florida developer. Revel closed on september 2nd. Meantime, Atlantic City plans to ask the state for permission to lay off some city workers to help balance its budget. It also wants to reopen most Union Contracts to city workers to cut costs. It is unknown how many workers might be targeted. City officials do intend, though, to file a layoff plan with the state on october 1st. Were learning more this morning about the raid that killed two people connected to the murders of three israeli boys over the summer. A pregnant woman was shot to death in philadelphias ogontz section. Her baby girl was delivered but died a short time later. Take a look at this video we got into the newsroom. It shows an israeli raid yesterday. Troops surrounded a building and used explosives to get inside where two palestinian men accused of abducting and killing three israeli boys were seen. Those suspects were killed in the shootout. Israel says they were affiliated with hamas. Those three teens, including one with family in ocean county, were kidnapped by hamas in june. Their bodies were found three weeks later. The murders helped spark a war between israel and hamas in gaza that lasted nearly two months. Police are in their 11th day of searching for the man accused of killing a state trooper and wounding another. There is still no sign of eric frein. Residents who have been denied access to their homes during the manhunt are frustrated. State police say theyve been diligent in respecting the rights of the public while working to keep residents and officers safe. And nbc 10 has learned what will happen if eric frein is caught. First, hell be taken before a judge in stroudsburg, then returned to pike county, where the ambush shooting happened. And this morning were learning more about a deadly workplace shooting in alabama. The pastor of the alleged gunman describes him as being troubled over his work and financial situation. Police say the man gunned down his two former bosses at a u. P. S. Warehouse yesterday in birmingham, then killed himself. Investigators say the alleged gunman was fired from his job on monday. This morning, police in Central Florida are trying to figure out if two men found dead in a crashed car are somehow connected to a mall shooting nearby. The mens bodies were found in a car matching the description of the suspects vehicle. Police say two people were wounded in the mall shooting last night, suffering injuries not considered lifethreatening. New charges have been filed in the case of the missing university of virginia student, hannah graham. An arrest warrant was issued for a man named Jesse Matthew jr. Police believe he was the last person to see graham before she disappeared on september 13th. Matthew was considered a person of interest but now hes wanted for the abduction with intent to defile is the charge. Three delaware high schools are participating in a Pilot Program to help students with their math skills before they go to college. According to a news journal report, the program is called foundations of college math. Education Officials Say more than half of Public School students who attend college in the state have to start with remedial classes that dont count for college credit. The Pilot Program is happening in concord, laurel and woodbridge high school. Meantime, a Public SchoolAdvocacy Group has filed a lawsuit against the new Jersey Department of education to get more funding for schools in rural districts. According to a report in the south jersey times, the Education Law Center said there are 16 rural schools that are underfunded by millions of dollars. Scientists cheered as the orbiter maneuvered into place around the red planet early this morning. Satellite nicknamed mom will circle mars for at least six months using solarpowered instruments to gather data on martian weather systems. The Pew Research Center study shows that in 2012, one in five adults had never been married. Thats compared to one in ten people back in 1960. In delaware county, congressman bob brady will meet with officials from the crozerchester Nurses Association about its ongoing labor dispute. Hundreds of nurses from crozerchester Medical Center went on a twoday strike sunday. Some continued to picket yesterday, and a negotiation session brought no resolution. Brady says the nurses union asked him to get involved. He helped end the 28day strike by University Hospital nurses in 2010. Police departments in Chester County say more dui cases involve drugs, including prescription medications. They have had a rise in alcohol and drug combined dui arrests. Theyre seeing the same trend in Montgomery County. Newhanover police say there have been nor duis related to prescription drugs in the last five years and lower pottsgroves police chief says his department has seen similar increases. From our delaware bureau, the auditor for wilmington is planning a review of Police Overtime. There are reports that overtime costs have risen sharply in recent years with dozens of officers now making more than 100,000 a year in 2013. A news journal analysis found Police Overtime totaled nearly 3 million last year, a 45 increase over two years. And later this morning, new jerseys secretary of agriculture will be in salem county for the Fourth Annual farm to school week.
