We continue to follow breaking news this morning out of egglands air force base in the Florida Panhandle where an Army Helicopter crashed during a night training exercise. It went missing last night around 8 30. Seven marines and four soldiers were on board at the time of the crash. We know that debris from the crash was found about 2 00 a. M. This morning. So far no more information from the scene or the fate of those on board. You can count on nbc 10 to bring you new information as soon as we get it. Also this morning, new from overnight federal authorities are being called to help investigate an attempted firebombing in philadelphias doneey neighborhood at 2 30 this morning behind a house on palmetto street. A witness saw the suspect run away from the scene and police were able to arrest the suspect a few blocks away. The Homeland Security was notified along with the atf. Nobody was hurt. Kathleen kane will be in court today to watch a Supreme Court hearing about her case. Katy zachry is live where attorney general Kathleen Kane will appear later this morning. Tell us about this case katy. Reporter this Supreme Court hearing will take place inside city hall on the fourth floor. We know from the attorney general who told reporters yesterday shell be present. Attorney general Kathleen Kane will be inside the hearing today. Its going to be one of the first ones heard this morning. Her lawyers will argue a judge has no authority to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate her. That special prosecutor investigated alleged leaks from kanes office to a philadelphia newspaper and went on to appoint a 12person jury recommending kane be charged with perjury, obstruction and other offenses. Truth is truth. Thats what it is. There was no crime committed, there were no documents that were grand jury material leaked. Reporter its important to note that just because those charges have been recommended by that 12person grand jury that they have not been brought against the attorney general at the time. Reporting live in center city katy zachry, nbc 10 news. Six public figures from philadelphia are charged in a corruption investigation that attorney general kane did not pursue. State representative louis bishop michelle brownley and harold james turned themselves in yesterday. They are accused of taking bribes from a lobbyist working undercover for prosecutors. Philadelphias d. A. Took up the investigation after kane dropped it because she said it was motivated by racism and politics. I am insulted when someone would allege something to be racist when they know it is not. Kane previously said the probe was too flawed to yield convictions. The others charged in the case representatives ron waters and Vanessa Lowery brown and thomas tine have pled guilty and are serving two years in prison. The trial involving the gunmans family members wont be moved out of delaware but a philadelphia judge will oversee the trial against david, his mother lenora and sister amy gonzalez. This happened after the judge accused himself after the mans name was on the hit list. The three codefendants played a role in the february 2013 deadly shooting. The gunman thomas, shot and killed his exdaughterinlaw and her friend before killing himself. She and thomas friend were due in court over a custody hearing for their son. A Gloucester County mayor accused of drunk driving is expected in court today for a hearing. Dash cam video from december shows warwich townships officers stopping the mayor after he had slurred speech. In the video hamilton was asked telling the officers to call the mayor of warwich township which the officers did not do. Trouble for two separate firefighters. One is accused of stealing thousands of dollars and a fire chief is accused of sexual harassment. Well start with controversy surrounding one of Atlantic Citys longest serving public officials. The fire chief is under investigation after a security worker says he dropped his pants in front of her. The womans lawyer says last thursday she was working at the entrance to the Public Safety building when she asked the chief dennis brooks to remove metal from his possibility to go through screening. At that point chief brooks undid his belt pulled down his pants and told my client he was having a bad day. Standing there in his underwear . Standing through in his underwear. One of the highest ranking members of city government. The security worker has nod decided to file a lawsuit but wants brooks to be reprimanded. Nbc 10 has made several attempts to get the fire chiefs story but we have not yet received a response. Not far away in margate a firefighter is charged with stealing thousands of dollars from his union. Prosecutors say lieutenant Michael Palmer stole more than 75,000 from the margate firemans union. Investigators say he took the money between 2011 and 2014 while he was the union treasurer. Lieutenant palmer has been suspended since last year. Today pennsylvanias lawmakers will hear from politicians, labor experts and clergy among others in a hearing in philadelphia on bills that would raise the states minimum wage. That hearing starts at 10 00 at temple university. The proposals increase the minimum wage to 10. 10 an hour and would raise the minimum wage for workers to make tips to 70 of 10. 10. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is on board with raising the minimum wage. In his budget address last week wolf said he supports the proposal to increase it to 10. 10 an hour and would also support future minimum wage increases tied to a cost of living index. Good morning. Road crews have filled more than 9,000 craters since the beginning of the year. Officials say pothole repairs are usually made within two days of them being reported. Crews filled more than 50,000 holes last year during one of the worst winters in the citys history. But the streets commissioner actually says because of the constant freezing and thawing of moisture on the roadways this winter conditions are worse out there. Aaa midatlantic also says as of yesterday their crews have rescued more than 260 drivers with flat tires due to potholes. So its fairly comfortable stepping outside. 40 degrees in reading. Atlantic city, close to 50 degrees.
