It is 5 01 and were following breaking news in philadelphia, where two wouldbe burglars are trapped inside a target store, and police have the building surrounded. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live at the scene in bustleton. Jesse, what can you tell us . Reporter well, tracy, i can tell you new information. We just talked with chief inspector scott small, who says this robbery today continues a pattern over the past month. This is the seventh target store to be burglarized over the past month, and the state police are here investigating. They believe one of the people involved in this is wanted in connection to the other six burglaries over the past month. Right now they are using canine units inside to search this vast store, pharmacy, store, the storage area, back, loading deck area. The area is searched for just two suspects, and police say that presents a problem. Many of these places cannot effectively be searched by a canine dog. The dog just cannot get to some of the areas. Theyre just too high or theyre just in too convoluted a location inside the store. So, were going to have to search not only with the dogs, but then once the dogs are through and if that search is negative, were going to have to put Police Officers in there to physically search. Reporter and those officers are going to go down each aisle and methodically check each aisle in the store and then all of the back storage areas, et cetera, so this could take a long time. Were told that these burglars or thieves are targeting Electronics Equipment specifically. Theres also a vehicle here in the parking lot. We should also tell you that that same target store was robbed earlier this year. This is Surveillance Video from that april 19th. Police say three men came out of the restroom after the store closed for the night and forced the workers at gunpoint to stand in one area. The robbers then made an employee take money from the registers. They got away with between 10,000 and 30,000. None of the workers were hurt. The other breaking story were following for you, a possible firebombing in west philadelphia. Crews were called to this home on west girard avenue. Fire investigators are calling this suspicious. Neighbors tell nbc 10 they heard a loud explosion, then saw flames. No one inside was hurt. A Montgomery County community remembered six family members murdered in mondays killing spree. The victims friends and classmates came together for this vigil at the Lutheran Church in souderton last night. This came after the manhunt to find the suspect, brad stone, ended yesterday afternoon when search teams found his body in the woods near his home in pennsburg. He died from selfinflicted stab wounds. Investigators say monday he killed his exwife and five of her relatives before killing himself. Our hearts are broken. Our communities are broken. I tried to hold it together a little bit, but everyones emotions really poured out tonight. Now, stones daughters that he had with his exwife are now in protective custody. The courts will decide who becomes their guardian. The only person to survive that killing spree monday is 17yearold anthony flick, the nephew of stones exwife. He is in serious but stable condition. His mother, father and 14yearold sister were killed. Just hours after telling the nbc 10 investigators that she was afraid her exboyfriend might kill her, a glenolden woman was dead. Now her ex, a former Colwyn Police officer, is charged with murder. Investigators say Stephen Rozniakowski killed her monday night and then the womans husband shot him. Investigators say rozniakowski gunned down his exgirlfriend, valerie morrow, at her home in glenolden. He also shot and wounded morrows teenage daughter. Now, morrows husband, who is also a Police Officer for another department, returned fire, injuring rozniakowski. Hours before this shooting, police served rozniakowski with a court order, telling him to stay away from morrow, and thats when she called nbc 10 investigators, saying that he started stalking her after she broke off their relationship and she was afraid he would kill her. Happening today, former philadelphia traffic courts judge Thomasine Tynes is expected to plead guilty to corruption charges. Tynes is accused of accepting a 2,000 tiffany bracelet in change for a towing contract with traffic court. Two weeks ago, she was sentenced to two years in federal prison for perjury for her part in the ticketfixing scandal. Two pennsylvania lawmakers also face charges in that same corruption investigation. Representatives ron waters and Vanessa Lowery brown turned themselves in yesterday on briberyrelated charges. Philadelphias d. A. Says the democrats admitted to taking illegal cash payments. He says a lobbyist turned informant recorded conversations of him giving money to waters and brown in exchange for their influence in harrisburg. I need a contribution. Ill take cash. Informant how much . Brown 500. Is that too much . Two other state representatives from philadelphia are also accused in this scandal, though charges have not yet been filed. 5 06 now. The Montgomery County teen who was convicted of stabbing his girlfriend to death is set to be sentenced in court today. Tristan stahley killed Julianne Siller in may 2013 and left her body in a wooded area of skippack township. Police say he told his mother what he did and she turned him in. Because stahley was 16 at the time, he faces 35 years to life in prison, instead of the automatic life sentence. And happening today in berks county, the tractortrailer driver who is charged in a deadly crash will appear in court for his preliminary hearing. Police say Steven Bernier fell asleep at the wheel and was speeding when he crashed into several cars on Allentown Pike in maiden creek township. Two people were killed. A young army veteran and a nurse. Today marks 30 days in sanctuary for a honduranborn woman who is battling the government over her deportation. Angela navarro is currently living at West KensingtonMinistry Church in north philadelphia. She says she will stay at the church with her husband and two children until immigration and Customs Enforcement end her final deportation order. Today, more than 200 religious leaders and politicians will deliver support letters to immigration officials on her behalf. Navarro is one of eight undocumented immigrants in the u. S. Investigators tell me they were caught on the roof, handcuffed and now brought into this van, and theyre getting ready to drive the van away. They just closed the doors. The board of education made that decision last night after younger players accused their teammates of holding them down, then beating and even sexually assaulting them. The head football coach is suspended from teaching and coaching and seven players are facing charges. New Jersey Schools saw a decline in bullying, violence and weapons incidents last school year. A 9 decrease from the 20122013 school year. Bullying incidents alone have been cut in half since schools were required back in 2011 to document and investigate every allegation. Chris . Today, delaware governor jack markell will spotlight the states efforts to increase access to collegelevel courses for high school students. Sony pictures told theater owners they can cancel their plans to show this movie, the interview, after threats of violence made by the same group that claimed responsibility for the sony hack attack. Those threats made by the guardians of peace warned audiences to stay away from venues that show that film. That film, the interview, is a comedy about an assassination attempt to north Korean Leader kim jongun. Some theaters have already taken action and decided not to show it. According to the Hollywood Report yes, sir, carmike cinemas, one of the largest chains in the u. S. , was the first to cancel its planned screenings. Sources tell nbc 10 the costumed performes and musicians will parade down main street manayunk on february 22nd. Organizers are hoping this Mardi Gras Parade will raise thousands of dollars for the mummers and help preserve the tradition. I think it just adds to the allure of manayunk. I mean, theres already the bike race that comes through here. I mean, its certainly a hub of all kind of entertainment. Senator is calling for a federal investigation into the high price of airline tickets. New york senator Chuck Schumer wants to know why ticket prices havent gone down, even though the cost of fuel has gone down. The Company Allegedly charged cell phone customers for services they didnt even want, such as text message alerts and horoscopes. The fcc is also investigating cramming complaints against tmobile.
