Zero visibility right now in cape may. Its 57, though, in philadelphia. Wilmington is 59 degrees. 50s even extend into the pocono mountains. Its allentown thats the cool spot at 49 degrees right now. But watch this. The temperatures will be climbing as the clouds clear out. 56 degrees by 9 00 and into the 60s at lunchtime. Your hourbyhour future weather in less than ten minutes. And were following this breaking news out of northeast philadelphia. Two people are in the hospital this morning after this car accident on cottman avenue. In critical condition. Thats right, cottman avenue is closed between summerdale avenue and whitaker avenue. Its a twovehicle accident. This is one of the vehicles involved. To the left side, outside of the cameras view is the other vehicle. A very serious accident. Both lanes at cottman avenue blocked off. This is the second vehicle involved. If you need to get around this, take tyson avenue. The problem is, this is right at the corner by northeast high school, so a lot of people at this stage out there who are going to be trying to get to school are going to run into that closure. Turnpike is even clear of any accidents right now. As i mentioned, that is the one problem that we are following this morning, though, that closure on cottman avenue. Well keep you updated with new details throughout the morning, tracy. News from overnight, a man shot in north philadelphia died at the hospital. Nbc 10 was on the scene on north colorado street. Police say the victim in his early 20s was gunned down at close range just after 11 00 last night. So far, no arrests or motive. Also new from overnight, investigators looking into the cause of a fire at a vacant row home in philadelphia, broke out shortly after midnight on mayfield street in kensington. Crews put it out quickly. Fire officials tell us there were squatters inside at the time. They made it out safely and left the scene. The man accused of kidnapping a philadelphia woman in an attack caught on camera will be in court today in philadelphia. Delvin barnes was transferred to philadelphia from a jail in virginia where he was being held for a separate kidnapping and attack of a 16yearold girl there. Nbc 10s jesse gary live outside the courthouse this morning. And jesse, is the victims family going to be there today . Reporter chris, from what weve been told, no. Family members are not going to attend. We checked in by phone. Were told that carlesha is still recovering, although she is Getting Better day by day. And family members also say they were never told that federal agents were bringing barnes back to philadelphia, nor were they told about todays arraignment. Police say the 37yearold is the person seen in this Surveillance Video snatching carlesha freelandgaither off a germantown street last week. That video went viral, prompting a massive response from local, state and federal law agencies. Investigators used tips, clues and Additional StoreSurveillance Videos to track down Delvin Barnes. They arrested him and rescued freelandgaither a few days later in maryland. Barnes faces federal kidnapping charges here in philadelphia and will likely be assigned a lawyer later today. In the next hour, no matter what happens with this case here in philadelphia, Delvin Barnes may not be out of custody for many, many months, and ill explain why in the next hour. Happening today in southwest philadelphia, a rally for safety will be held outside Bartram High School following the third assault on a teacher in the past month. This cell phone video showed a substitute teacher lying unconscious in a hallway last week. Police say he was knocked out by a student. The teacher is recovering from a concussion. A spokesperson for the Teachers Union says the big problem is budget cuts leading to insufficient security for the schools. The Pennsylvania StatePolice Barracks where a trooper was killed in an ambush back in september will reopen today, full operations. The state trooper who survived the shooting is now in a new york city hospital. Alex douglass was taken there monday for surgery. That hospital specializes in orthopedics. Douglass was shot in the pelvis. And Corporal Bryon Dickson was killed in the september 12th attack at the Blooming Grove barracks. The man accused in that ambush, eric frein, was arrested, of course, after that sevenweek manhunt in the poconos. Prosecutors are seeking the Death Penalty there. 5 05 now, and happening later today, the sentencing for the first person convicted under a new pennsylvania gun law. Its a law that bears the name of Fallen Police officer brad fox. A jury found stacy dawson of chester guilty of buying two handguns for a convicted felon. That transaction is known as a straw purchase. Well, under the new law, the crime carries a mandatory fiveyear sentence. The law is again named for plymouth township Police Officer brad fox, who was shot and killed back in 2012 while trying to arrest a suspect. Police determined that the gun used to kill him was supplied to the suspect through a straw purchase. Officer foxs widow, lindsey, joined governor corbett as he signed the bill into law last year. Officer foxs canine partner, nick, who was wounded by the suspect, was retired and given to the fox family. One of the men accused in that carjacking crash that killed a philadelphia woman and her three children over the summer is set to be arraigned today. Cornelius crawford is facing nearly two dozen charges, including murder and sexual assault. Police say crawford and another man, jonathan rosa, carjacked a woman on july 25th, sexually assaulted her and then crashed her suv into the family who was on the sidewalk in the tioga neighborhood. Keisha williams and her children, ages 15, 10 and 7, were killed. This morning, the search is on for the man accused of pushing his wifes corvette into the delaware river. Last night, Police Issued an arrest warrant for 50yearold john kramer. His estranged i saw breaking news come across his estranged wife, who did not want to be identified [ everyone talking at once ] ongoing marital dispute. So, i was on the phone. I hung up and i called 911 and i asked them if that was my car. It was, and now, again, police are looking for the husband, seen there. In philadelphia, a convicted former Police Inspector is back in custody after being released from jail by mistake. Danny castro was rearrested after being set free for two weeks and even landing a job. In 2011, he was sentenced to five years in prison for using strongarm tactics to collect a debt. His lawyer said a clerical error by a probation officer led to his premature release. This morning, a man is in custody charged with vandalizing the graves of veterans at two local cemeteries. Bensalem Police ArrestedAnthony Carter yesterday after connecting him with five arsons from over the summer. Police say those fires destroyed american flags and veterans grave markers at Rosedale Memorial Park and roosevelt memorial. Investigators say carter voluntarily gave them a dna swab when an officer noticed him acting strangely in a cemetery late at night. They matched to the stems of the flags. When he was pulling the flags out of the ground, he must have left his dna actually on the wood. Investigators tell us carter being arrested on veterans day was just a coincidence. Dense fog. Thats limited to delaware and south jersey, especially closer to the coastline. A windy afternoon will get rid of the fog and clouds, well see sunshine and warm into the 60s today, but that will be the last day in the 60s. Temperatures tumble tonight. It gets cold overnight tonight. Well be in the 30s tomorrow morning. 49 degrees in allentown. Some breaks in the clouds. Thats the chilly spot this morning. The fog, thats in new jersey and delaware. This morning its trenton that has seen some thick fog, now at half a mile visibility. Dense fog in wrightstown, down to a quarter mile in Atlantic City and very thick fog for millville, wildwood, dover and georgetown to start with. But just like yesterday, it is not going to last all day. These clouds will clear out. Right now they extend well north and west, so the entire region is on the warm side. Once they break out, we will see plenty of sunshine and return to the 60s today. Wont see anything falling from the clouds today, but that may change tomorrow night. Heres a map of where the accident happened, right at this intersection. Youll notice its right at northeast high school. So, cottman avenue, this portion right along the high school, thats whats going to be blocked off. We even have a portion of algon avenue blocked off as well. So, if you need to get around this, this is tyson avenue right down here. You can see its a good distance away from cottman avenue, but it runs parallel to cottman, so thats going to be a good option for you. Again, this is something well continue to follow throughout the morning. Heading outside, a little bit of light fog out here. This is bucks county, route 1 at pennsylvania avenue. But aside from that one accident, were not reporting any other accidents on the majors. You can see average speeds in the mid50s on 422, same thing on the blue route and 76. Tracy . Governor tom corbetts Administration Says this is part of an overhaul of the programs medical coverage plan. The exact plan changes, though, arent yet available because they havent yet been approved by the federal government. Notices were mailed out to enrollees last week. The corbett Administration Says they will be sorted into one of two plans. Those plans will go into effect january 1st. One exit along the garden state parkway in ocean county is closed for good. Exit 88 on the southbound side of the parkway closed monday night as part of the improvements being made in lakewood. Fog and clouds have moved back into the area. But these are clouds with benefits. The benefit is that its much warmer this morning. Its like having a blanket across our area. Look at this, 57 degrees in philadelphia. Thats 11 degrees warmer than yesterday. Not much wind, but plenty of humidity. Its up to 93 . But thats not enough for fog in the entire area. Its new jersey and delaware thats seeing the thicker fog. Winslow township this morning one of the locations weve been watching for thick fog. The fog will clear just like yesterday, but its especially thick in delaware, central and southern delaware, south jersey and into central new jersey. And right along the coast, were seeing a little bit of improvement right now in cape may, but its still down to 1 4mile for millville, Atlantic City and toms river. Anything at 1 4mile or below is considered dense fog. Its light fog above that. Clouds above the entire area will not last all day. We will see them clear out as a gusty wind will be blowing in. This line of showers will fall apart, but the winds will still survive. And then cold air will ride in on those winds tonight. You will really feel the difference by tomorrow morning. So, even though were starting off with fog and clouds, sunshine and 60s again this afternoon, but the winds will make for a different story tomorrow morning. Look at the temperatures, dropping into the 30s. Then just 49 degrees tomorrow afternoon. Late in the day thursday, thursday evening theres a chance well see some rain showers. Pocono mountains might see a few snowflakes with those few showers, but the rest of the area will be dry by friday. Breezy and cold, a high of just 44 degrees. And a cold start saturday morning, near 30. Then just 44 in the afternoon. So its going to be a cold but sunny walk at Citizens Bank park in the walk to defeat als. Sunshine will fade on sunday.
