Yeah, matt, and weve been monitoring it for the last hour or so, ever since it came into our system. Again, its happening in westville, almonessen road at delsea drive, because delsea drive, as you saw, is closed both directions and its a busy stretch of road. You can take route 45 or gateway boulevard around that crash. Also in new jersey, taking a look at your average speeds on some of the majors, 42, 55 and 295, average speeds are in the 50s and 60s at this time, which is pretty typical. Route 70 in cherry hill right at h haddenfield road, there is police activity. Were being told two lanes are blocked right now. Were trying to get information as to why. It looks like theres a vehicle out there, but its not clear why they have two lanes of route 270 at haddenfield blocked off. Ill keep an eye on that. 76 degrees, eastbound at conshohocken, youll be reduced to one lane around this mess. Its basically a tractortrailer thats disabled. Its in the shoulder, but because of a fuel spill, thats affecting the roadway. They need to bring sand out there and dry it up, so traffic is reduced one way around that, 76 eastbound. 5 02 right now. A Mercer CountySchool District is closely watching Students Health following two cases of enterovirus d68. One of those led to a childs death. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live in hamilton township. They had a Big Community meeting there last night. Jesse, whats the status of the second child who has that virus . Reporter well, chris, the second 4yearold attends a Morning Preschool Program here at this school, and he is back at home after being hospitalized. Officials say hes recovering from the virus. But the cdc now confirms enterovirus d68, the cause of death for eli waller last month. His parents say the toddler had an apparent pinkeye and only missed one day of school before becoming fatally ill. How can something that appears innocuous lead to death . The district superintendent released a statement to parents, saying in part, infants, children and teenagers are most likely to get infected with enterovirus due to their lack of immunity, protection from previous exposure. Adults seem to become infected, but the symptoms are less severe. The lo the loss of a child can affect a family and a community and well have more Community Reaction coming up. Jesse gary, nbc 10 news. Were also learning more about an ebola investigation in this area. A child from liberia is being monitored at a hospital in dover. The child was taken to the emergency room at Bayhealth Kent general on saturday. Now, the hospital is not saying why the patient was brought there, but out of an abundance of caution, the child was admitted to a private isolation room and the hospital followed the cdc guidelines for investigating ebola. Now, hospital Officials Say the cdc determined the likelihood of the child actually having ebola is extremely low, so the cdc will not run ebola tests. Now, the patient will continue to be observed in the hospital until the cdc and doctors determine its safe to discharge him or her. A liberian man whos hospitalized with ebola in dallas is still in Critical Condition this morning. Health officials are still monitoring closely ten people who definitely had contact with thomas duncan. Investigators have also located a homeless man who needs to be watched because he also may have had contact with duncan. Within just the past couple of hours, a specialized medevac jet brought american freelance journalist ashoka mukpo back to the united states, where he will be treated after testing positive for ebola. The journalist was working with nbc news in liberia when he was diagnosed with the virus. President obama will meet with members of his National Security team and senior staff to discuss ebola today. The president has ordered up to 3,000 u. S. Military personnel to west africa to train Health Workers there. Theyll also build more than a dozen field hospitals. New from overnight, a 35yearold man was shot and killed in west philadelphia. Nbc 10s camera was at 60th and girard avenue as investigators looked for evidence there. No one has been arrested so far and no word yet on what led to the shooting. Also new this morning, a man is in Critical Condition after being shot five times in north philadelphia. The 20yearold man was hit along 24th and somerset streets around 2 00 this morning. Right now police are still looking for the shooter. 5 06 a. M. Happening today, family, friends and hundreds of Police Officers will pay their final respects to a Pennsylvania State trooper who died in a training accident at a Montgomery County shooting range. A funeral mass for trooper david kedras at 11 00 this morning at christ the king church in northeast philadelphia. Nbc 10 was there at a life celebration for him last night at the givenish funeral home on academy road, also in the northeast. Officials say kedra was accidentally shot by another trooper during a Training Exercise last tuesday in conshohocken. Kedra was 26 years old and had been a member of the state police since june of 2012. Now, on the way to kedras service, another Police Officer got into a motorcycle crash and had to be taken to the hospital. It happened along interstate 95 north in northeast philadelphia. Investigators say a vehicle in front of the officer swerved to try to avoid hitting a falling ladder. The officers motorcycle hit the car, he lost control of the bike and was thrown to the ground. The officer, though, is said to be in stable condition. And an update now in the Police Manhunt for eric frein, now in its fourth week. Hundreds of troopers searched a tree nursery in northeastern pennsylvania on sunday. This is a photo of that scene there. Authorities still have not found the 31yearold man whos accused of shooting two troopers outside a Police Barracks in pike county on september 12th, killing one of them. Police have found items left behind by frein, including pipe bombs, food and clothing. Happening today, a philadelphia man accused in a quadruple shooting is set to be arraigned. Leonard hampton is facing attempted murder charges. Police say in august, hampton started a fight with his neighbor on campus street, then called for backup. According to investigators, three of his friends showed up, and someone fired shots. Three innocent bystanders were hit along with the intended target. 5 08 now. Dozens of philadelphia Police Officers came together in silence at the same time College Graduates in vermont were listening to a commencement address given by a convicted cop killer. Members of fop lodge 5 gathered at the memorial at 13th and locust for philadelphia officer daniel faulkner. They wanted to show support for his widow, maureen. Yesterday, students at Goddard College in vermont were listening to a recorded speech by mumia abujamal, the man convicted of killing faulkner in 1981. The nation is in deep trouble, largely because old thinking, both domestically and globally, has led us into the morass that the nation now faces. Now, in spite of protests, abujamals speech was played for about 20 students who received their degrees from the same school where he graduated in 1996. Abujamal is serving a life sentence for the murder of officer faulkner. New information now on the pennsylvania pornographic email scandal. State attorney general Kathleen Kane says shes trying to comply with the judges request for information about the officials involved. In an email to chief Justice Ronald castillo, kane said she would hand over any pornographic emails involving any judicial officer if her office is allowed. She said the issue is under review by her civil division. Now, last week, you may remember two state officials resigned. Department of Environmental Protection secretary chris abruzzo, who you see here, and dep lawyer glenn parno. They were among several state employees who exchanged pornographic emails on their states computers. In the email, kane said our cooperation will be to the fullest extent of our ability. Lets check in with nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter katy zachry. It has been a busy monday so far. This accident happened around 3 30 this morning, westville on almonessen road at delsea drive. You can see a lot of police activity, some caution tape. We have a crew at the scene who will bring a live report shortly, but let me go to my computer right now and give you alternates around this. So, again, its happening in westville. You can take route 45, which is gateway boulevard, around this mess. We understand its going to be out there for quite some time, just considering the Police Investigation thats part of it. Probably well into the morning commute. Youre going to want to remember gateway boulevard around that crash. Route 70 at haddenfield road. So, this is the eastbound lane. Police are out there. We understand theyre blocking one, possibly two lanes. They arent giving us information as to why right now. Its not tying up traffic, because as you can see, its pretty sparse on route 70 eastbound. But if it is out there as the morning rush picks up, ill be sure to watch that and let you know if you need to take an alternate around it. I76 at henderson road, right around king of prussia, we do have an eastbound lane, a disabled vehicle thats on the shoulder. So, again, not messing up things there. Also, i should tell you, on 76 eastbound right at conshohocken is a tractortrailer in the shoulder because of a fuel spill. They have it reduced to one lane around that, 76 at conshohocken. A new accident into our system. Forsham, tournament drive. Drugged, shot and dismembered. Thats what a new jersey woman was convicted of doing to her husband. Why shes now trying to appeal that decision. Plus, a fiery crash has left five teenagers dead. The driver was the lone survivor. Why police say he shouldnt have been behind the wheel. 5 15, and new this morning, a north jersey woman convicted in whats known as the suitcase murder has been denied her appeal. 41yearold Melanie Mcguire was convicted of killing her husband, cutting up his body, putting it in a suitcase and tossing it into chesapeake bay. Mcguire claims her legal team was ineffective during her 2000 trial. A judge, though, just rejected her attempt at an appeal. Mcguire is serving a life sentence. A 16yearold california boy who police say didnt have a license crashed his car, killing five teenage passengers. The teenagers were returning home from a halloween event Early Saturday Morning when the car hit a guardrail, rolled off an embankment and caught fire in irvine. The driver was ejected from the car but was the only one to survive. He is in serious condition at a nearby childrens hospital. Its not clear what caused the driver to lose control. Dozens of homes in a louisiana town had to be evacuated when a Freight Train hit a transport truck. Two engines and several cars at the southern pacific train derailed in the town. About 50 miles within a half mile of the wreck had to be evacuated because of concerns over the car full of pressurized gas might explode. It hasnt at this point. Two train engineers were injured in the collision. In new york, minor collision between two planes at jfk airport caused some commotion on the runway. Last night, Officials Say a Royal JordanianAirline Plane bumped into the tail section of a delta plane. No one was hurt. 5 17 a. M. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps announced he will take some time away from swimming to get help after his second dui charge. A spokesperson for phelps says the olympian will enter a sixweek inpatient program. Last week, phelps was arrested with driving under the influence and speeding in baltimore. Phelps put out this tweet yesterday, saying, i recognize that this is not my first lapse in judgment, and i am extremely disappointed with myself. His first dui charge was back in 2004. Well, the eagles are now 41 on the season, but boy, the birds are not making it easy on the fans. After jumping out to a 27point lead yesterday against the rams, they had to hold on. The eagles special teams once again came up big, scoring the games first touchdown on the blocked punt return there. This is the Third Straight game that the eagles special teams have scored. The defense also added a score, returning a fumble for six. The rams, though, battled back from a 347 deficit. And with under a minute in the game, they were driving for the goahead score. The temperatures 30s and 40s to start with. 40s in the city, but in the suburbs its dropped into the 30s. Were watching for some frost. Right now its just bumped up to 50 at Philadelphia International at the airport. 68 humidity. Very dry air. Its part of why the temperatures have really come down this morning. The other issue is the wind. Its died down this morning. But that changes during the day. You can see some clouds to the west. It will be a pretty good breeze ahead of those clouds coming in today. Showers already in northwestern pennsylvania and the ohio valley are destined for our area but really not until tomorrow. The future weather shows nice, clear skies for us today. Come tomorrow, the chance of showers moves in. Early in the morning we could see a few showers north and west. Then they break. Well actually get some breaks of sunshine in the afternoon before clouds return with a chance of evening showers tomorrow. So, sunny, breezy day today after a chilly start this morning. Well be in the 70s this afternoon. But look at those winds, southerly to 15 Miles Per Hour with gusts 25 miles an hour. The losing bidder for revel casino isnt cashing in just yet. Hes upset over how the auction was handled. Florida developer glenn straub will challenge the result of that auction at a hearing tomorrow in camden. Brookfield Asset Management was declared the winner with a bid of 110 million, but straub questions the timing of brookfields bid. His lawyer also says straub is considering whether to make an offer higher than that bid at tomorrows hearing. On the General Motors recall, it now hits, get this, 30 million vehicles. For issues ranging from loose wiring in the steering columns to the engine inadvertently shutting off.
