Weve had a number of accidents this morning and we continue to follow a bunch of them right now. Tow truck got to the scene of this accident on 95 southbound side right near the Philadelphia International airport. Its on the shoulder, not blocking anything, and the tow truck is there now, so it should be out of there soon. Its been out there 20 minutes, but its not creating a slowdown in the area. This is a serious accident, though, in Montgomery County, worcester township, right near the intersection of stump hall road and green hill road, so use caution if youre headed in that direction. We have an accident that happened hours ago on the southbound side of the new jersey turnpike, right as you approach the delaware memorial bridge. That accident involves an overturned tractortrailer. So, two lanes are still blocked right now. Traffic can get by, though, but its going to take some time for that to get completely cleared. You can expect a little tap of the brakes there. And for drivers in camden this morning, right here you can see this activity. The flashing lights. Thats the route 30 admiral wilson boulevard westbound approaching baird boulevard. A water main break happened last night, so we have repair work going on right now. Tra tracy . We are following breaking news in the ogontz section of philadelphia, where police are investigating a deadly double shooting. This morning a pregnant woman is dead, a man is in critical condition. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live on the scene. And katy, as hard as doctors tried, the baby didnt survive either, did she . Reporter she didnt survive, and we learned that this morning. But for the homicide detectives behind me, this is an all too familiar scene, because for the second time in as many weeks, theyve been at the scene of a deadly shooting involving a pregnant woman. The 25yearold woman and a 26yearold man were in this white chevy impala, which is parked on the corner of 20th and nedro streets in the ogontz neighborhood. Police say just before 1 00 this morning, almost a dozen rounds were fired. Several people in the area called police. Officers were nearby and got here in seconds. Heres what they found. When Police Arrived on the scene, both of the victims, the male and the female, were on the sidewalk, laying on the sidewalk right next to that chevy impala. There is blood in the impala. The impala appears to have been struck by gunfire. Reporter and those officers first to the scene drove the victims to Einstein Medical Center just a few blocks from here. The woman eight months pregnant had been shot four times, including in her head. She died at the hospital. The man who was with her, Police Believe he was her boyfriend, possibly the father of her unborn child. He was shot twice. He is expected to survive. Doctors did an emergency delivery of the womans baby, a little girl, were told, but sadly, she died around 2 15 this morning at Einstein Medical Center. Now, homicide detectives out here do have a vague description of a man seen running south from here. They are interviewing witnesses, people who live in the area, those people who were first to call police about the shots being fired. Fortunately, there are surveillance cameras also in the area, so im told homicide detectives are trying to get their hands on that video. In terms of motive, right now it is unknown. Police plan to be out here for the next half hour or hour still gathering evidence. Reporting live in ogontz, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. As katy mentioned, this is the second time this month that a pregnant woman was shot and killed in philadelphia. Megan doto died september 14th. Doctors delivered her baby girl, but the child died several hours later as well. Police are looking for a suspected drug dealer they say fired the bullet that killed both mother and daughter. Three suspects wanted in the attack of a gay couple in center city are expected to turn themselves in, actually in about two hours. Philip williams, Kevin Harrigan and katherine knott, all from bucks county, will face assault and conspiracy charges. This comes after the release of the Surveillance Video near the scene of the attack at 16th and chancellor. The victims say they were targeted because they are gay, but lawyers for those who face the charges say thats not what happened. But heres a statement from the victims. A Delaware County teacher is behind bars, accused of having sex with a former student. Bill barber is a teacher and coach at Garnet Valley middle school and was arraigned yesterday. Police say a 15yearold girl sent her former coach nude photos. They say the two exchanged sexually explicit messages and the alleged encounter happened inside the coachs office. The driver of that tour bus has been charged in the crash that killed two people. Investigators say jinli zhao was driving too fast when the bus overturned sunday on the exit ramp from route 1 to route 13 in new castle. More than a dozen people are still in the hospital. Meantime, investigators with the National Transportation safety board returned to the site of the crash yesterday in bear. They shut down the exit ramp to reconstruct the crash. The two suspects charged in last years deadly Center City Building collapse will appear in court today. A Pretrial Hearing is scheduled for later this morning for demolition contractor Griffin Campbell and subcontractor shawn benschop. Both men are facing thirddegree murder charges. Last week, a judge denied a request by their attorneys for them to be tried separately. Six people were killed when a building that was under demolition came crashing down on top of a Salvation Army thrift store at 22nd and market streets in june 2013. People fighting Prescription Drug abuse are calling for a new commissioner for the food and drug administration. They want the Obama Administration to replace dr. Margaret hamburg. The groups say that the agency has contributed to what they call an epidemic of Prescription Drug abuse under her leadership. The fda came under fire last october when it approved a new painkiller against the recommendation of its medical advisers. Meantime, Montgomery County will hold a seminar today in conshohocken to help prevent drug overdoses. The program trains teens and young adults to spread awareness. Theyll learn prevention techniques from Law Enforcement and families affected by drug overdoses and death. Happening today, delaware governor jack markell will sign legislation that will give more money to volunteer fire and ambulance companies. The governor will sign three bills to pay for that increase. The first will tack on 10 extra for traffic tickets in delaware. The second bill will increase the tax paid by health insurers. And the third will require state Health Insurance policies to cover the cost of ambulance runs and life support services. Its 5 17. We have new information this morning about the source of a bad odor detected across bucks, montgomery, delaware and chester counties back on august 30th. Peco now says the chemical hexane was produced during cleaning operations on the interstate pipeline, and thats what caused the smell. Peco says there was never any danger. The pipeline pumps gas to the peco station, which then sends it to homes. A published report shows philadelphia has the highest concentration of leaky gas lines in pennsylvania. According to the pittsburgh tribunereview, pgw reported nearly 90 leaks per 100 miles of gas line last year, which is eight times the national average. The report also shows it could cost 11 billion to replace all the leaky pipes in the state.
