Fog thick at the shore. Other areas light fog just inland from beach avenue the fog is not too bad. Visibility is not all that bad in south philadelphia. You can see its reduced. See the fog showing up over Citizens Bank park. The fog is down to 1 2 mile visibility. Wild Wildwood Airport has it as well. The temperatures unusually warm. 72 degrees is our normal high temperature. Look at northeast philadelphia, 72 decrease right now. We should be in the 50s leer. About 20 degrees above normal this morning and its going to be another warm day today. Fog will be thinning out. Well see some breaks of sunshine as we head into the afternoon hours. The temperatures will be climbing. During the afternoon theres a chance well see some showers. Well go through the forecast neighborhood by neighborhood when im back in 10. We have foggy spots but nothing messing with a lot of the majors and visibility in terms of driving theres not a lot of volume as well. We head out to parkwood we are dealing with a downed pole and wires obstructing the roadways there. Woodhaven road and byberry road. Police activity on the scene directing traffic around the incident. Take academy road to get by. Out on the schuylkill expressway around montgomery drive, no problems here. Small obstruction in the right hand shoulder on the eastbound side but thats obviously not setting anybody back too much. 13 minutes. Just something to watch out for. Headed eastbound from the blue route to the vine street expressway, no problem. 42 freeway in new jersey drive times there are free and in the clear. Just 5 minutes. And thats a good thing. Headed northbound from 55 up towards the walt whitman bridge. Were going to check in with the rest of the area bridges coming up in 10. Tracy. It is 4 33. Following breaking news in Mercer County this morning where an overnight fire hit an apartment complex in east windsor. Crews are still on the scene. It just flared back up. Nbc 10s matt delucia is there. Matt, tell us whats going on right now. Reporter tracy, we did see that flareup a few minutes ago. Im going to get out of the way. The firefighters are still tending to the building here. This is the Windsor Castle apartments on devonshire in east windsor, Mercer County. Theyre keeping an eye on the roof of this structure. Its an entire row of amounts. As we go over to the right here you can see all of the Fire Department activity all of the trucks ambulances emts, everyone who is out here right now responding to this fire. A large response from east windsor and the neighboring towns in this area. Now ive been talking with some witnesses out here. One of them actually was out here recording this whole thing with his cell phone and i believe we do have some of that video for you right now where you can see just the intensity of this fire when it starred and you can 150e the flames shooting from the first floor to the second floor through the roof. This witness tells me that he could hear the windows popping hearing people screaming for help. I did speak with him. Heres some of the audio that we obtained just a few minutes ago. Take a listen. Well i was sleeping about 2 30 in the morning. Then i heard a lady screaming help, help help. I got my clothes on came out. I saw a cop running in front of the building. All of a sudden i saw the fire started in this beginning building here. We just heard the windows popping, popping, then the whole roof just went up in flames. There were some injuries reported initially as some of the witnesses out here tell me that they saw a man jump from the second floor. So were still working to find out a condition. In fact i just spoke with a Police Lieutenant out here with east windsor. He told me theyre working on getting us some more information out here. Hopefully well have an update as the morning progresses. As of right now the firefighters as youre looking live, theyre still trying to make sure this fire is out. Just within the past five minutes more flames are coming out of the roof and the second story window of this apartment here here. This is the Windsor Castle homes in east windsor. The firefighters are trying to keep this thing contained keep this thing under control. Weve got some light smoke coming out of the roof. Were going to be back in 30 minutes with another update. Happening today, we are expecting to learn more about the case against an allentown mother accused of throwing her baby off a bridge which led to the boys death. Today the District Attorney is scheduled to hold a briefing on the investigation. An autopsy is also scheduled today on the body of zymere perry. He died saturday six days after the Authorities Say the boys mother Johnesha Perry threw the boy over the bridge and she jumped in. One person is dead and another in the hospital after a mothers day house fire in sussex county. Flames hit the home on reynolds road. Crews found the victim dead in the home. Five others were hurt. All but one of them have been released from the hospital. We are told an elderly man remains in a burn unit. Investigators have not released the name of the person who died but the fire investigators say she was the mother of one of the residents of the home. In Delaware County police are looking for suspects in a caught on camera street brawl that led to gunfire. This is cell phone video youre looking at from third and green way in darby borough. Both men and women were involved in this mele. One person had bats. One person was caught pulling out a gun. Witnesses say they heard several shots, no one was hit, but a bullet struck a nearby home. We talked to one witness who grabbed screaming kids and ran them inside. They was upsay the because they was saying there was children outside and somebody could have got shot. Police are now reviewing the video and trying to track down the people involved. Its 4 37. Today Pennsylvania State lawmakers will introduce a bill to increase funding for bridges owned by counties and municipalities. Senator bob casey will unveil the bipartisan proposal at a bridge montgomery county. It is one of the socalled off system bridges that are chronically under funded. Today leaders in new jersey are expected to announce legislation with the goal of stopping Online Ammunition sales. Representative Bonnie Watson coleman will join antigun violence advocates in trenton. They will introduce the stop Online Ammunition sales act of 2015. Some Lehigh Valley residents trying to raise money for a memorial honoring the victims of a cement plant explosion that happened during world war ii. They need 5,000 for the memorial. 31 people died during the blast at the Lehigh Portland cement company in lower mount bethel township in 1942. Low clouds, some fog and temperatures that are unusually warm in the 60s and 70s right now. Northeast philadelphia, 72 degrees. The wind is calm but you can see the moisture in the air. High humidity. No sign of any rain just yet. That is a possibility. No longer a Tropical Storm now, just a depression and stalled just to the south but spreading moisture up the east coast. Thats going to help to give us a chance of some showers later on. As far as fog is concerned, not a problem for north and west areas. Pocono mountains, no sign of fog. Just very light fog at philadelphia international. Five mile visibility. It is just fine for airport operations. Its the shore, Atlantic City half mile visibility. On the beach even thicker. The fog will clear and theres a chance well see scattered shower as we go into the afternoon. Allentown, quaker town. Clouds sunshine and some popup showers. Not an all day rainfall. Hell have a live report coming up at 5 00. Happening today, the Atlantic CitySchool District is expected to learn more about the fallout from proposed layoffs in ac. A state lawmaker will produce a budget tonight. Theyre expected to lose more than 214 positions due to cuts. More than 1 3 of the citys firefighters are on the chopping block. Those layoffs could go into effect by the end of next month. A report by the nbc 10 investigators shows a dwindling number of volunteer firefighters in pennsylvania. They visited a few local companies to find out why. The state fire commissioner says 20 years ago there were 6 volunteer fight fighters for every one today. The departments that nbc 10 talked with said younger people just arent signing up because now it takes longer to become a firefighter. Volunteers face 180 hours of training that they have to pay for themselves. Fire commission ner said with fewer volunteers there is more concern for public safety. You know, it means that sometimes when the whistle blows or the tones drop or the call goes out for help it may go unanswered. The nbc 10 investigators found seven states addressing the issue of fewer volunteers including delaware which encourages volunteer firefighters with tax breaks. In pennsylvania it disappeared six years ago but the chairman of the states Emergency Services committee wants to reward volunteer firefighters by paying for college similar to a military gi bill. Military bases around the country have stepped up security this morning in the wake of an isis inspired attack in texas. This is the First Time Since the 10th anniversary of 9 11 at the pentagon raised security levels. Two isisinspired gunmen were shot and killed in a failed terrorist attack. Right now u. S. Officials arent agreeing on how to manage home grown threats. The fbi is reviewing the field offices to review threats of determining whether the right people are being attacked. New york senator Chuck Schumer is demanding changes nationwide after more than 200 passengers were stuck in philadelphia following an overseas flight. Heres what happened. Passengers were headed to jfk from london. They were diverted to filled because of fog. Once here crews held them on the tarmac for three hours and then when they finally got off the plane passengers learned theyd have to sleep in the terminal until customs agents arrived at 5 00 in the morning. People have to sleep in the Philadelphia Airport simply because a couple of customs people werent there doesnt make sense and it has to change. Ill be asking customs to do that. British airways issued an apology and they eventually bussed those passengers to new york. A tornado caught on video as it touched down in texas over the weekend. The tornado stayed on the ground long enough to cause minor damage to buildings and utility lines. This is one of several tornadoes that ripped through north texas. It wasnt just tornadoes causing problems in that area. Days of relentless rain caused flooding. Here the National Guard rescued people trapped in their homes because of rising water. Scary. It really is. To know you have to be air lifted because theres no other way to get to you. Its scary.
