Right now in philadelphia the number is down to at Philadelphia International 30 degrees. But it is in the 20s for northeast philadelphia trenton, wilmington. A cold start. Sunshine will warm things up but nowhere near the normal temperatures of middle 50s. Well be at 35 degrees at lunchtime today. And the wind will be picking up, too, going into the afternoon hours. Good morning, bill. Crank up the heat unfortunately this first monday morning of spring. Taking a look outside, not many delays at all. So thats good news along interstate 295 throughout south jersey. A lot of green on the map so things are moving along quite nicely this morning. Theres just not a lot of volume on the roads right now. As we take a look at your drive times on interstate 95 especially the southbound stretch. Thats one of the normal problem areas for the morning commute. But for now were getting a green light. 12 minutes heading southbound from woodhaven road to the vine street expressway. Same thing in the opposite direction. Elsewhere, on the schuylkill expressway, were getting 13 minutes eastbound from the blue route to the vine. The blue route is also looking good all in the clear. Tracy . 4 32. Residents in one philadelphia neighborhood awaken to find their cars broken into overnight just weeks after the same thing happened not too far away. Matt delieu hahucia is live where drivers are left without something critical. Reporter yes, you can see a few cars here along the street. One of these cars right here one of the owners tried to put a plastic bag over here to cover the window smashed. You can see parts of the broken glass still here in the window. Well go to video here. Nbc 10 was first on the scene here along the street in rhawnhurst. Police came here in the last couple hours. One of the residents heard their car being broken into but others were sleeping at the time. They had no idea what was going on until officers knocked on their door. I came outside the a broken window. Every honda they are taking the air bag. Reporter you just read right there, one thing youll notice in all the video here is that the vehicles are hondas. Earlier this month nine hondas were broken into and their air bags stolen as well. The thefts all happening in the same general area five minutes away from here. Commissioner Charles Ramsey requested the review after his officers shot and killed 15 suspects in 2012. In Delaware County a stormer volunteer firefighter accused of starting three house fires is set to go on trial today. Investigators say John Corcoran set fires in darby borough and darby township. In two of the cases he responded with the Fire Department to put out the fires. In a separate case corcoran is accused of raping a dozen children over the course of two years. A groundbreaking ceremony will be thold celebrate the start of a runway repair project. The project will fix issues like cracking concrete thats been a concern for the last decade. They are already training for how to work around the limited runway capability during the repairs. The project is expected to be complete by june of next year. Work is beginning this week on a project to improve connections on several major roads in philadelphia. Starting tonight there will be lane restrictions on i95 as part of a project to rebuild ramps and improve connections at i95 to the betsy ross bridge. That work will continue through fall of 2017. The woman was driving out of Southern Ocean Medical Center, the snow slid off the top of her car and she hit a woman who slid under the suv. No charges will be filed. The Chester School district superintendent says plans are in the work to sell the old William Penn School to the Chester School district. The Philadelphia Catholic Church that was built in the late 1880s will be demolished. The archdiocese of philadelphia is planning to knock down st. Lorenzo church. It would cost 2. 5 million more to repair and restore it than to millionish the church. The archdiocese closed the church in march 2014 because it was in danger of collapsing. The school though will stay open. Today philadelphias archbishop will open more shelters and food pantries and Health Clinics in the city. And hes raising awareness in the city. The archbishop has the backing of many businesses in the area chlt. Oscar romero was an archbishop who stood up for the rights of the poor. And pope francis had a special delivery over the weekend. Pizza to go. While riding on the pope mobile a pizza owner handed him a piece of the pie. In a vent interview the pope said he missed getting pizza at a pizzeria. In delaware two women became the first to be jointly ordained in the Presbyterian Church. The two were ordained at first and Central Presbyterian Church in wilmington. Last week Presbyterian Church usa approved an amendment to its constitution changing its definition of marriage to include same sex couples. Well, two Pittsburgh Police officers were really in the right place at the right time. Yeah over the weekend a help to deliver a baby on the side of the road. The fremont family was heading to the hospital to have baby number two but baby number two didnt want to wait. So the couple pulled over and fortunately they spotted two officers who quickly jumped into help. One went to the back of the seat grabbed out a blanket and handed it to me and said its your turn to catch the baby. Never a million years did i think i would have the baby in the car. They named the baby kate. I dont think either officer had that name but they are grateful both officers were there to help. It is a cold start. Its monday morning and the temperatures have plummeted. Were waiting for sunshine in northeast philadelphia and atlantic city. Look at the 20s. 28 degrees in philadelphia. And cold enough to keep any ice and snow on the ground in the pocano mountains. But just like over the weekend, well see bright sunshine. So even though temperatures are staying chilly during the day and some of the snow will be disappearing, youll need your sunglasses. You wont need the umbrella today. The winter coat will be handy, not only today and tomorrow. But see the snow up here in chicago . That will be moving our way. The snow should miss us. Well get some of the clouds but the cold that is producing that snow is going to be here again tomorrow morning. Right now theres some high clouds to the south, but those will be thinning out and mainly sunshine today. The chance of showers will arrive wednesday during the afternoon hours, but thats when temperatures will be warmer. Well be looking at rain showers on wednesday and mostly warmer weather on thursday. Taking a look at the drive times on the pennsylvania turnpike a lot of green out there. No major slowdowns if youre heading westbound from route 1 to valley forge, 22 minutes. And the first right. Nissan has still not fixed a problem with the air bag seat sensor. Nearly 990,000 vehicles were recalled in 2013 and 2014 because of a sensor that prevented the air bag from deploying. Safety regulators say 124 people have said the problem has happened after repairs have been made. Nissan still insists that the fixes took care of the issue. Well, General Motors is offering a new safety feature for young drivers. In its new 2016 chevy malibu. It is called teen driver that says it will provide speed warnings and turning on active safety features to help avoid a crash.
