Be careful if youre heading out this morning. There are some icy roads out there. And there are road crews out there doing what they can. Katy zachry is live where she found a trouble spot and did find people working on it. Tell us more. Reporter hi tracy. Take a look behind me. You can see what a difference the road crew has made. As we make our way slowly and gingerly over to this storm drain, it is still icy here but you can see for this area that was really the culprit. So what had happened is all the rain last night, there was ponding in this area. Were on belmont avenue not far from trevor lane. There was a lot of debris and there was some leaves blocking the storm drain. Because of the ponding that was created, this entire area froze over. What you have now is this ice. You can see its pretty thin but this had covered quite a bit of area here across belmont avenue. So you had the Police Department out here they put up a road closed sign forcing drivers in the righthand lane to go around it. But fortunately in the last half hour a Roads Department crew came over here and broke up a lot of this ice. Its pretty thin. I can break it up in my hand so it is not thick ice, but thats not the issue. On the untreated surfaces and surfaces with standing water from overnight, it is freezing. And it is pretty slick around here. I can tell you just from getting out of our truck, even on the pavement where we were not having the ponding issue, it is pretty slick. So that is what you want to be aware of if youre getting in your car over the next hour or two hours, three hours because the freezing temperatures as bill has been telling us wont lift for some time.
