Take bulltown road as an alternate there. The majors are pretty quiet. This is the blue route near route 1. Just a few drivers, no accidents or delays to report there. So, that is a good start for a lot of people on the roads. 95, drive times pretty average, about 13 minutes both ways between woodhaven road and the vine street expressway. The vine is also clear at this hour. And if youre taking mass transit, everything is on or close to schedule. Tracy . We are staying on top of breaking news out of philadelphia. This is kind of an unusual story. Police are still trying to find two burglars who are right now trapped inside a target store. Nbc 10s jesse gary is live on the scene there for us in bustleton. Jesse, whats going on now . Reporter well, we just talked to chief inspector scott small, who gave us new information. Ill move out of the way. They say there are two burglars inside the store. They used a cutting instrument to cut into a back steel door behind the store, about a 3foot by 3foot section, peeled back the steel and went inside the store, tripping an alarm to the Security Company. The Security Company then called Philadelphia Police, and officers responded. Now, the First Responders heard the robbers inside the store and then other officers saw them up on the roof trying to escape. When they saw the police, they went back inside the store. They climbed back into the store. Now, police have gone in with canine units and searched the store. They pulled the canine units out. They have also searched using lifts to try and look into the high areas, high shelving and ceiling areas to look for these two, but they have not found them. Police are not sure if they are armed or not. They say they at least have an instrument to cut through a steel back door, so they are worried about that. State police are also hear because of this, because they say there have been other robberies, and we will elaborate more on that coming up in the next 30 minutes. Crews were called to this home on west girard avenue about two hours ago now. Fire investigators calling this suspicious. Neighbors tell nbc 10 they heard a loud explosion, then saw flames. No one inside was hurt. Happening today in berks county, the tractortrailer driver charged in a deadly crash will appear in court for his preliminary hearing. Police say Steven Bernier fell asleep at the wheel and was speeding when he crashed into a group of cars on Allentown Pike in maiden creek township. Two people were killed. A young veteran and a nurse. Also happening today, former Philadelphia Traffic Court judge Thomasine Tynes is expected to plead guilty on corruption charges. Tynes is accused of accepting a 2,000 tiffany bracelet in exchange for a towing contract with traffic court. Two weeks ago, she was sentenced to two years in federal prison for perjury for her part in a ticketfixing scheme. And two elected officials from philadelphia also admitted to accepting thousands of dollars in that same Corruption Scandal involving tynes. Representatives ron waters and Vanessa Lowery brown, both of west philadelphia, turned themselves in yesterday. Philadelphias District Attorney says a lobbyistturnedinformant recorded conversations of him giving money to waters and brown in exchange for their influence in harrisburg. Two other state representatives from philadelphia are also accused in this scandal, though charges against them have not yet been filed. We have new information thi bucks county coin shop robbery. David piergrossi on the left was arraigned last night. Daniel leflar is awaiting a preliminary hearing in custody. They are seen in this video at coin and collectibles last week. They say they tied up several people and smashed cases and stole coins. New this morning, a north jersey Athletic Director is suspended following a High School Football team hazing scandal. The sayreville board of education made that decision last night. Younger players claim that their teammates held them down, beat them, even sexually assaulted them. The head football coach is suspended from teaching and coaching, and seven players are facing charges. There is a decrease in bullying, violence and weapons incidents at new Jersey Schools overall. A new report shows its down 9 this year compared to last year. Bullying incidents alone have been cut in half since the schools were required back in 2011 to document and investigate every allegation. Chris . The mummers hope to start a new tradition in 2015, and you heard about it first right here on nbc 10 news. Sources close to the Mummers Association tell us the performers are going to add a second parade next year. In that one, they will strut down main street in manayunk on sunday, february 22nd. Its a Mardi Gras Parade. Organizers hope it will raise thousands of dollars for the mummers and help preserve their tradition. I think it could be something good, because in the winter you need a little bit of different things, different activities to get people out and enjoying shopping around again after the holidays. Organizers say the mummers Mardi Gras Parade will be centered on families and there will be zero tolerance for drinking on the street. Its all part of the fallout from the hack attack on Sony Pictures. The socalled guardians of peace are warning now theatergoers to stay away from the theaters that show the film. According to the hollywood reporter, carmike cinemas, one of the largest theater chains in the country, was the first to cancel its plans to show the film. There are several carmike theaters in our area, including in dover, allentown and voorhees. Now, the threat has Law Enforcement in new york and los angeles stepping up security there. We take those threats very seriously, and we will take extra precautions during the holidays at theaters. Tracie potts, nbc news, washington. At 4 47, the family of a black man who was shot and killed by White Police Officers in a Walmart Store is suing the officers involved. The shooting happened last august in ohio. The federal lawsuit filed in federal court claims the police were negligent and violated the victims civil rights. Officers shot John Crawford inside the Walmart Store as he held a air rifle. Police say he didnt respond to commands to drop the rifle. The grand jury did not indict the officers. Still pursuing justice, because to me, that is justice. You have to be held accountable. You dont get a pass because you have a sidearm and a shield. The officers have not commented on the lawsuit. Walmart issued a statement, offering condolences to the family but offering no comment on the case. The Los Angeles Police department could be the countrys largest Law Enforcement agency to equip its officers with body cameras. Theyre planning to arm 7,000 officers with the technology by next summer. Some as early as next month. Well, a tshirt with the slogan i cant breathe got a Kentucky Middle School teacher in some trouble. It sparked a discussion on clothing that makes those kinds of statements. Jerrell dillingham is the teacher. He says he ordered the shirt to take a stance about the death of eric garner, the new york man who died in that police choke hold. But when he wore the shirt to school, the teacher got some flack from his principal. My assistant principal said i need to take off that sweatshirt. And i said, you know, whats wrong with my sweatshirt . He said its politically driven and you shouldnt have it in the school. Afterwards, the teacher and the principal reached out to the aclu about his First Amendment rights in this situation, and an aclu representative said the employer, in this case, the school, does have some latitude to enforce whats worn to school. A protection hearing is set to resume today for nascar driver kurt busch after his ex broke down in tears yesterday, asking the judge to keep him away from her. Busch allegedly assaulted her at Dover International speedway back in september. Patricia driscoll testified that busch choked her and smashed her head into a wall. The alleged attack happened not long after the couple broke up, but buschs attorneys deny the allegations. Police say the man you see in this Surveillance Video here knocked on the door of brownies par 4 lounge on West Oak Lane yesterday afternoon. Once inside, he punched an 83yearold man, knocked him to the ground, then pulled out a knife, handcuffed the victim to a railing and robbed him.
