Thats part of what you need to see some especially cold temperatures, and thats what weve got right now. 33 in Atlantic City. Below freezing for millville, pottstown and allentown. And right at 32 degrees for mt. Holly, while wilmington is 34. A cold start this morning, but well see sunshine and a quick turnaround of the temperatures. 44 degrees at 9 00, 55 and still climbing at lunchtime. Im back in less than ten minutes with your hourbyhour future weather, show you how warm its going to get in your neighborhood. But right now, first alert traffic reporter katy zachry is watching your monday morning commute. Good morning, katy. Good morning, bill. No issues to report, no accidents on any of our roadways. So, that is great news. A live look at the vine street expressway right at broad street, a streetlevel view. A few cars on the road, but really, theres no volume to account for on any of our roadways at this time. If youre headed out west, taking 76 westbound, keep in mind, you cant access 76 westbound from spring garden. There is construction on that ramp, so its closed until the end of this month. You can take girard avenue to 76 westbound if you want to get up to 76 west. Then, further out west for drivers on 422 eastbound, the ramps to and from Armand Hammer boulevard, they are closed until the end of this month. And finally, for drivers in new jersey, a live look at route 38 and route 70 in camden. A few cars out there, but no issues to report. There is some construction, daytime construction in delaware county. Ill have that for you in a few minutes. And now to three stories new from overnight. In fact, about three hours ago, firefighters rescued a woman from this burning home in philadelphia. It happened on belfield avenue in germantown. When crews got there, they say heavy flames were coming from the back of the house. Firefighters went in and pulled a 60yearold woman from the home. She was taken to the hospital but is said to be doing okay. No word yet on what caused the fire. Then in delaware county, investigators say a house fire in chester did not appear to be suspicious. Flames hit this home at 7th and caldwell streets just before 11 30 last night. No one was hurt. And police were called out to a Burlington County motel overnight after shots were fired inside one of the rooms. Nbc 10 was at the knights inn on route 73 in mt. Laurel as police investigated what happened there. They tell us that people inside one of the rooms were playing with a gun and it went off. No one was hurt. And this just in to nbc 10 news. A man who was shot inside his car in philadelphia has died. Police were called out to the scene on marion street in germantown last night. At first, they thought it was a car crash, but then they discovered that the driver had been shot in the head. Again, weve just learned that he has died from that injury. At this point, police have no arrests. Happening today, the superintendent of camden schools is discussing ways to improve performance for students after standardized test results show those students are not making the grade when it comes to english and math. Nbc 10s matt delucias live in camden. And matt, you spoke exclusively to the superintendent. Whats the plan to make things better there . Reporter well, tracy, each school is unique, and so, each school will have its own plan moving forward. The catto elementary school, where i am at right now, its one of the better performing schools here in camden, but that is not the case across the board. And heres why. Students in camden last year took standardized tests, and the results overall were not very good. When it comes to english, only one in five students is considered proficient, and similar numbers are the case for math. And that is well below the state average. Now, in my conversation with the superintendent, whos been on the job for a little over a year, he tells me as of now, all options are on the table. And essentially, he wants to make these schools better by starting from scratch and not fixing everything piece by piece. Is it almost an experiment, if you will, where youre trying to see whats working in one school and applying it to another . Bottom line, when you have a great leader, whos very well supported in a school building, and then that staff has bought into that leaders vision and theyre working together, youre going to get the results. So, we certainly get our principals together, we meet twice a month, we provide them development, were sharing best practices and ideas together, but its not the most complex formula. It starts with great leadership and having common vision that the staff has bought into and providing the resources they need and getting the results for our kids. Reporter now, later this morning, the superintendent is kicking off a twoweek schoolbyschool tour to talk with families about how to get this district going in the right direction. And coming up at 5 00, im asking the superintendent if the numbers arent good now, how could he expect to turn that around . For now, were live in camden. Im matt delucia, nbc 10 news.
