What are you hearing from First Responders . Reporter First Responders told me when they first drove up, they saw fire from one of the buildings. 40 people live inside. Im told the people are older with disabilities so getting them quickly to safety was a top concern for First Responders. Staff had already been helping people out of the building. The fire started inside a room in smith hall on the campus. The initial call came in that someone was trapped in the end. Firefighters found one person inside dead. Investigators are not giving us at this time any information about the victim. Neither are people here at the Elwyn Institute. A Security Guard and actually another employee were both taken to local hospitals for what im told at most minor injuries. More for observation at this time. The screenings will not be done at Philadelphia International airport since few or no passengers arrived here from west africa. Well be getting an immediate briefing on the Ebola Outbreak today. Some of the brightest minds in the nation are in town for that conference focusing on ebola and enterovirus d68. Now, weve also learned of a local effort to collect medical supplies and protective gloves for relief workers in west africa to help contain the spread of ebolas air, well have details on that later. The Pennsylvania State senate has approved legislation that would extend the use of ignition interlock devices for more drunk driving offenders. Under the bill, ignition interlocks would be required for one year for a point alcohol level of 0. 10 for greater. Pennsylvania also requires it for repeat offenders for a year. The bill now goes to the house. You wont need one of those devices if you use septas overnight trains over the weekend. On the broad street and market line septa is extending that service indefinitely. Septa launched a Pilot Program in june. But as we head toward the weekend, this is the rainfall that were going to see in our area to start with. And these first showers could be arriving in our area by tomorrow afternoon.
