Getting thicker in lancaster and not quite dense fog just yet and seen improving conditions in blue bell. Chilliest in allentown and 56 in philadelphia. 50s to start with and we will see the 70s this afternoon. The fog will disappear as the temperature climbs up to 62 degrees at 9 00. By lunchtime, 72 degrees. Go neighborhood by neighborhood with the forecast when we come back. A deadly accident on the blue route could have an impact on your morning drive. Jillian mele will have a look at that. Still blocked off between 76 and conshohocken. This accident is a fatal accident and one person rushed to a local hospital. Wait here at the bottom of your screen, its tough to see, a van on its side partially overturned this morning. Crews able to get it upright in the last few minutes. Working to get that van out of there, but as you can see, a lot of activity out here and a lot of debris that needs to be cleaned up on the road. Cleaned up that debris working to get this cleared as quickly as possible, unfortunately when we have a fatal accident on the highway, wroacan you can expecte cleared with. Ramps blocked off both east and westbound. Make sure you take that into account this morning. This is one of the google maps here to show you exactly where this is happening. The closure point right at the interchange with 76. This stretch of the blue route northbound is going to be blocked off this morning. Thats the location were talking about. If you need to get around this accident and access the pennsylvania turnpike or even the northeast extension, here is what is going to happen for you. All traffic being diverted from 76. Take 76 westbound this morning out to king of prussia and at that interchange with 402 go beyond that little bit farther and you can access the pennsylvania turnpike and get right here on the turnpike and access the northeast extension, wherever you need to go is the best bet to get around the accident this morning. 4 33 this morning. New question by alleged plots to attack subway systems in both countries. As soon as the threat was mentioned, u. S. And french authorities went on the alert. Yesterday officials in washington and paris later cast doubt on the Prime Ministers report saying, they had no such information. Nbc 10 Monique Braxton is live and what is septa telling its riders about this . Its telling its riders it will increase Police Presence, tracy. Weve been out here for an hour and a half monitoring the situation and i can tell you the first train just pulled in and riders tell us they plan to hop on it about 5 01 and also noticing an increased Police Presence. Our video shows you just a sampling of what youll see if youre riding the rails this morning. Septa is 265 strong. Most of them part of the increased Police Presence in place due to an announcement by iraqs Prime Minister. He says hes learned of an imminent plan by isis militants to attack american and french subway systems. Officials dispute the credibility of the threat and local leaders tell us theres no evidence that our region would be a target but septa is airing on the side of caution. Making sure they have additional boots on the ground. We talked to commuters about the possibility of a threat and septas reaction to it. Got to get to and from. Got to get back and forth. I dont necessarily believe there will be a threat here, for n instance. Obviously, Due Diligence and nice to see Something Like that. Philadelphias police are also providing assistance above and below ground. Riders are urged to be vigilant. Just a short time ago, we spoke with a rider who had taken the night owl and he told us he did see police. Were going to turn that sound around for you and have it in the next half hour. The victim has not been identified. A manconvicted of a hit and run jerome brooks was found guilty of driving under the influence. Till was run over by brooks suv. Testimony continues today in the trial accused of killing a baby and grandmother in montgomery county. Both parent took the stand and cross examined the babys mother. Charged with killing 10monthold and her grandmother in a botched kidnapping and ransom attempt in king of prussia back in 2012. Union nurses are expected back on the job this morning in delaware county. Those nurses went on strike on sunday. The strike ended tuesday morning, but the hospital brought in temporary nurses who were guaranteed at least five days of work, which is why the union nurses wont return to work until today. Were following this breaking news now out of cape may. Heres what we learned, a fire in the engine room of the cape may lewis ferry. That fire started within the last half hour. We have limited information but working on more for you. Two people escaped from the engine room, thats where the fire broke out. The ferry is in dock in cape may. We dont know how severe the impact is and we have called sky force 10 to head towards that ferry there and gather more information for us. Well have a live report for you as soon as we get it. 20 minutes before 5 00, two cities in our region will get special attention when a National Summit on reducing violence begins in washington on monday. Wilmington is one of those cities. Been selected as part of a violence selection network. Cities within the group will have full access to Crime Fighting resources from the u. S. Justice department. Now, camden is the other area city to be included. It will be grouped with wilmington, chicago, detroit and oakland california. The mayors of those cities will join eric holder at the city in washington. And crime in camden will be the topic on tonights nightly news with brian williams. Chester springs is 49 degrees and reading with 53 degrees is seeing that thick fog develop quarter mile visibility for reading and lancaster is now reporting dense fog. Really not an issue along the i95 corridor. Dont expect it to be but we could see other areas north and west. All that rainfall yesterday. The rain is done and dry today and sunshine to warm temperatures into the 70s from the pocono mountains through alentown and reading. And along the coastline, it will be sunny skies and mid70s for cape may and atlantic city. Dover 76 degrees this afternoon. Nothing but sunshine for wilmington, chester and philadelphia. And some sunshine for the weekend, too. The sevenday, when i come back. 4 42 now and lets get a check of traffic at the top of that is the situation on the blue route. Still shut down, jillian . Still shut down and i anticipate it being shut down for quite some time. Closed between 76 which is exit 16 and conshohocken and happened around mile marker 17 and this is the scene. We still have a lot of activity out there right now. This is the northbound side of the blue route just beyond 76. This van right here, it appears to be a daily news van. That was the van that was on its side that was made upright in the last 15 minutes. There was another vehicle involved, as well. Very serious, fatal accident that has been out there for quite some time. You can still see a lot of activity out there. So, this accident isnt going to clear any time soon and, in fact, as a result of this accident, ramps from 76 to the blue route northbound are still blocked off, as well. You can see that activity that we have out here on the schuylkill expressway blocking those ramps. Taking you to the map, right at 76 and just beyond that, north of that closure point is where the accident happened. So, the problem for a lot of drivers this morning is going to be accessing the pennsylvania turnpike or the northeast extension from the blue route. So, heres what youre going to do. You can exit the blue route northbound and take 76 westbound out to the interchange with the pennsylvania turnpoike and from 76 you can hop eastbound that will leave you on the turnpike or access the northeast extension from there. Youre going to want to leave yourself plenty of extra time. We dont have any serious accidents on other highways across the country. Tracy . 4 44 right now. The pentagon says, the latest hit on Oil Refineries cut off an important source of financing. Theyre not going to be pumping any refined oil out, petroleum, any time soon. They claim president obama skipped an important step. Were, obviously, engaged in war inside syria. Seems to me the appropriate thing for congress to do is to vote on it. Listen to this, the Fire Department of new york says three retired firefighters who worked at ground zero died on the same day from 9 11 related illnesses. And a third firefighter all died on monday of cancer. The Fire Department says that cancer was brought on by the toxic air at ground zero. The union that represents fdny in the 13 years since 9 11 850 of their members that were there have gotten sick. A little boy in florida is nothing short of a hero. His quick action to 911 saved his fathers life. Hes on the floor because this is a real emergency. Im really scared. That was the 911 call that the boy made when his dad collapsed and was unconscious inside the familys home. His mom was at work at the time. He stayed on the phone until paramedics got there and rushed his dad it the hospital and thats when the boy said a prayer. Because i wanted him to feel better while he was in the hospital. Sd i feel okay now. Without him i would have passed away i. When dad got out of the hospital a couple days later he went straight to school to pick up his little hero. Give your umbrella the day off. The rain is done. Now, were seeing a little bit of the result of that rain in the form of fog. Not from this vantage point. This is the view from center city. No sign of fog in the immediate philadelphia area. The temperatures are running cooler down six degrees compared to yesterday at this time. Clearer skies in Philadelphia International and 56 degrees. The humidity is at 84 . That number will come way down as the day goes on. Right now were running 13 degrees chillier compared it yesterday morning in allentown and reading is 7 degrees cooler this morning. With the cooler weather, less wind. Still a little bit of a breeze and thats helping the fog from forming, but where it is calm this morning, thats where were seeing some thick fog, reading and lancaster reporting quarter mile visibility right now. The storm we had yesterday, completely out of here yesterday and moving into new england and off shore and clouds have moved ow, too. Bright sunshine from the get go this morning. The forecast is calling for the temperatures to get up into the upper 70s after a cool start this morning. 62 degrees at 9 00 and lots of sunshine and no sign of fog later this morning. Noontime 70, 77 degrees at 4 00 this afternoon and then we go warmer than that this weekend. Normal High Temperature for fall this time of year is in the middle 70s and well be in the low 80s starting tomorrow with nothing but sunshine. Low humidity for saturday and sunday and looks like a great weekend. Pretty nice monday, too. 82 degrees. And then clouds will start to build for tuesday and wednesday. I dont expect to see all day rainfall either day, but theres a chance well see some scattered showers and then by thursday, they will be clearing out. Sunshine returns with a high of 56. Nine minutes before 5 00. If youre just waking up big problem on the blue route shut down northbound. Thats because of a fatal accident and, jillian, because its fatal, it will be out there for a while. Out there for three hours and anticipate it being out there longer because crews have a lot to get done as far as cleanup and investigation. The blue route northbound at 76 shut down between 76 and conshohocken. This van hooked up to this tow truck is ready to clear the scene and still out there. One person died as a result of their injuries and another person was taken to a local hospital. As you can see, a lot of Police Activity still out here at the scene. We have the ramps from 76 to the blue route northbound also blocked off as a result of this accident. So, the problem thefor drivers do you access because typically you would take the blue route just north right at this interchange with the northeast extension and the pennsylvania turnpike, but this is that section of the blue route that is blocked off this morning. This is the area where that closure point is happening right at 76. So, from the blue route you get on 76 westbound and take that out to the interchange with the pennsylvania turnpike and hop right on the turnpike from 76 and the turnpike itself you can take east and either stay on the turnpike or access the northeast extension. This is a big problem this morning and something we continue to follow and also continue to get more details. Well keep you updated as far as new information goes.
