They were out of town and came back late yesterday and started hearing these reports of a hit and run of the vehicle and things started to click in their mind. Investigators say they were not the ones behind the wheel. They dropped the vehicle off around 6 00 this morning so investigators could get their hands on the vehicle and they showed up here at the Accident Investigation Division to begin answering questions. This all started on monday. The second of two fatal hit and runs. This one killing 2yearold david just a little boy who was full of energy. Investigators say that the mother his mother, 19yearold josephine was carrying him ape cross the street when she was struck by the vehicle. The driver took off from the scene. They tell us the owners of that vehicle originally lent it to a relative a 19yearold relative. They havent released his identity. They came in from out oftown. He takes the car and drives around. He brings it back that night. They get in the car and leave and go back to williamsport. They have no idea the vehicle was in an accident. They come back yesterday and thats when they start hearing reports of an accident. The captain of the division picks up the story from there. They didnt notice any damage until the next day and they start putting one and one together and say this may be the car. Thats when they started to cooperate with the police. Reporter that damage is said to be a broken left headlight that was broken at the scene. Investigators still had a piece of that and when they brought the vehicle in the piece fit perfectly. Thats a quote from police. They say they are 100 sure they have the vehicle that hit and killed 2yearold david and critically injured his mother. Shes out of hospital now and recovering. She has some tough days ahead of her. No word on condition on the victims condition. An update on a police chase in Montgomery County that ended with an officer in the hospital. The chase started around 9 00 last night. It ended at the intersection of high street. Police chief told us the officer got out of his car and while approaching the suspect, he claimed he felt threatened an fired off two shots, the officer did. The suspect drove off hitting the officer. That officer suffered minor injuries. Police arrested the suspect. Hes recovering in the hospital. Investigators are looking into why the suspect was stopped in first place and the suspect had a gunshot wound.
