Police have been questioning several people and nbc 10s Monique Braxton is live at Police Headquarters for us with an update. Monique, what can you tell us . Reporter hi vai. The high profile murder of 51yearold James Stuhlmaned no only grabbed headline attention, but detectives here on the third floor of the Police Bureau say it is a top priority of theirs. They have been working around the clock and they hope to get the crime solved as soon as possible. This neighborhood, at 65th and girard was the focus last night. Sources tell us several guns were taken from a home here. Also overnight, a handful of people were questioned by detectives. Sources also say a teen as young as 14 is among those being questioned in connection with the murder. Now, as you know stuhlman was walking his dog when he was shot once in the chest in overbrook. Police tell us they believe it was a robbery attempt. Now, commissioner ramsey says there are a critical part of the investigation, thats where they are right now, working on the critical part of the investigation. I know we have at least one, possibly two, were talking to. Are they related . I know thats been reported on the news. But i dont want to do anything until i can absolutely confirm that. Reporter now, stuhlmans dog, molly, his flashlight, wallet and cell phone were all found at the crime scene. This happened around 2 00 in the morning at the tally ho on west 4th street in bethlehem. Police tell us the man is being treated for a cut to his neck. So far there are no arrests. Lehigh University Say the victim was not a student at the school. The fire marshal is looking for the cause of this house fire in pike creek, New Castle County this broke out around 2 00 in the morning on maremore court. A family of four was inside at the time. All four made it out safely. The roof over the garage however, did collapse. And the flames destroyed this house. Paulsboro high school is reopened today, one day after many students and staff were sickened. School officials made the decision around 4 30 this morning after the department of Environmental Protection checked the air quality. Yesterday, fumes from the nearby Paulsboro Refinery made more than a dozen students and staff sick. A plant spokesperson toll us there was a leak in the tank storing partially refined oil. Some parents talked to us and were upset. Yes, i am very fed up. I cannot believe we have to live like this and then taxes just went up and whats going on . The superintendent says the levels were at the very low end of what is considered unacceptable. But he says students were dismissed out of an abundance of caution. This morning, were hearing from the family of the 26yearold mother whose body was found in maryland months after she disappeared from mount laurel. Prosecutors say investigators discovered erica crippens body along a rural driveway in sykesville maryland on tuesday. They tell us she was bound with electrical wire and duct tape. Crippen disappeared around new years and days later her husband was charged with her murder. With the discovery of her body, the victims family says they will have closure but they still have questions. How could he hurt her . Someone youre supposed to love. Earlier this week authorities charged crosbys mother with helping to conceal the crime. Investigators tell us they poured over thousands of pings from the gps in crosbys car and then narrowed that down to 30 locations. One of those 30 spots is where they eventually found the body beneath the pile of branches. An accident caused by the wind killed a woman from philadelphia. Nguyen was known as tina to her friends. She was walking and talking on her cell phone when a sheet of plywood flew off a construction site and hit her on tuesday. She fell and hit her head on a wall of a parking garage. The family spokesperson tells nbc 10 that nguyen moved to philadelphia from new york and was planning to get married in july. Her fiance released a statement saying, the family and i have decided to burry her in philadelphia. This is the most devastating loss. She was the woman of my dreams. Gunman with automatic weapons stormed into a restaurant in sweden and opened fire killing two people there and injuring about a dozen others. It is unclear who the attackers were targeting or why. Solving this high profile murder case is a top priority of detectives who spent the last with days now working around the clock on the third floor at Police Headquarters and near the crime scene. New information we covered this morning. This investigation into the death of 51yearold James Stuhlman took crime scene teches to this neighborhood at 65th and girard. Now, he was walking his dog one week ago, when shot in the chest in what Police Believe was a robbery attempt in overbrook. Commissioner ramsey updated us on developments overnight. Were in a very critical part of the investigation. We are making Good Progress in the investigation. Very tragic homicide that took place last week. Reporter stuhlmans dog molly, his flashlight a wallet and cell phone were all found at the scene. They dont believe the murderer got away with anything. Right now there is a 20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest as well as the killer of this 51yearold resident of overbrook. Live outside Police Headquarters Monique Braxton, nbc 10 news. Thank you. We have breaking news. New information is being released in a Police Involved shooting in philadelphia back in december. Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams is at the podium. Lets listen in. The Police Shooting death of mr. Brandon tate brown last december. This is a solemn occasion an emotional one. The loss of any life is very sad. But it is heart breaking when a mother has to bury her child. So my heart goes out to the family and friends of mr. Brandon tate brown, especially his mother whom i met with in the past i spoke with her and i spoke with her this morning in my office. As a District Attorney however, my role is to dispassionately examine the evidence and apply the law. I have stood here many times before and i have explained to you that each case must be judged on its own unique facts, on the law that applies to that case. My duty is to make the charging decision based on the facts of the case without regard to friendship politics public pressure or race. In this case the facts show a tragedy. A terrible tragedy. But not a crime. Im going to explain this morning why that is with a brief overview of the evidence. And then with the more detailed presentation. Now i have to start by saying the evidence is not as some people have portrayed in media reports. This was not the case of an unarmed man shot while running away. It is a case of a struggle and of mr. Brandon tate browns attempt to get his illegal gun. We know this not just because the police said so but because the facts were confirmed by the contemporaneous accounts of several civilian eyewitnesses. By video, by physical evidence and by dna testing. The witnesses didnt know each other. They had different advantage points and gave statements almost immediately after the incident. On the Early Morning of december 15th, at about 2 45 a. M. Mr. Brandon tate brown was driving on frankfurt avenue in the mayfair section of our city. He was driving with his daytime running lights on but not his headlights. We have video showing the car. Police signaled him to pull over and he did. Mr. Gillisen. After the police approached the car, one on each side one of them saw a gun between the passenger seat and the console. The gun was recovered there immediately after shooting and photographed. Dna testing of the gun was positive for mr. Brandon tate brown. Now, this is a very difficult car stop scenario. The officer indicated to his partner that there was a gun. And the police told mr. Tate brown to exit the car. But at that point he began struggling with the officers. He broke away from them three separate times. He did not just walk away however, or put up his hands. Instead, he went around the car, toward the passenger side where he tried to reach inside to the place where he knew he had put his gun. That has been that is when one of the officers fired his weapon from behind the car and to the left. The bullet struck mr. Tate brown in the head killing him almost instantly. The law governing this section, the law that governs how i have to analyze this type of case is section 508 of the pennsylvania crimes code. That section addresses the use of force by law enforcement. It provides for the use and it allows for the use of deadly force if the officer reasonably believes that it is necessary to use that force to prevent the use of deadly force against himself, other officers or civilians. In other words the use of force here was criminal only if there is proof beyond a reasonable doubt that the officer did not have a reasonable belief that the suspect was reaching for a weapon. I believe the evidence to the contrary. The officers actions here do not constitute a crime under section 508. Again, what transpired in the early hours of december 15th was a tragedy. It was not a crime. Let me walk you through a presentation of some of the details. To my left listening to District Attorney Seth Williams basically exonerating the Police Officer involved in the policerelated shooting of mr. Brandon tate brown back on december 15th after a traffic stop. Mr. Brown had a weapon with him, according to eyewitnesses, and dna testing exonerates the Police Officer from any wrongdoing in the death of mr. Brandon tate brown. Problems are mounting for the secret service over the alleged drunken crash at the white house involving two senior agents. The agencys director released a new statement this morning. Nbcs Kristen Welker has an update for us. Reporter as secret Service Director Joseph Clancy prepares to face lawmakers today, there is fresh outrage. Congressman Jason Chaffetz says the two surveillance tapes do not clearly show that happened the night of march 4th when two secret Service Agents allegedly drove on to the white house grounds inebriated. When we asked can we see a different angle, are there other cameras, the director said he wasnt sure they had the tapes, they may have been erased. Erased . Are you kidding me . Reporter chaffetz who chairs the Committee Says it is unclear whether other cameras captured other angles. It is more than a week after the incident and the secret Service Director doesnt even know if there is a tape of the incident. That is just so inexcusable. Reporter this comes after clancy faced a fierce grilling on capitol hill earlier this week when he acknowledged he wasnt told about the incident for five days and was informed by an anonymous source. Im frustrated. Im very frustrated. . You cant run an agency like this or any other agency unless you have discipline in the ranks. Maybe some people need to be sent to the mojave desert. Reporter clancy was brought in to reform the agency after a series of security breaches, including when a man with a knife made it inside the white house. Now clancy is facing his first big test. Important to point out the secret Service Agents were driving at a low rate of speed and did not damage their car. Awards will be capped at 10,000 per victim. Target said the breach affected as many as 40 million credit and debit card accounts. The iconic new york city yellow taxicab is starting to take a back seat to uber. New stats show there are now more registered uber cars in new york city than yellow taxis. It is a oneday conference that will encourage and motivate our guests to reach their goals and dreams through the action steps presented by the panelists. We want to create communal engagement through entrepreneurship and philanthropy. People like me who grew up in the 70s and 80s, we know your husbands music well. You can be selective in where you put your resources. So why did you choose this particular one to help them . When youre working with someone or you met someone who particularly as young as nehemiah is and hes interested in bettering the lifestyles of individuals who are underserved, it is a natural fit that there is so many of our youth who are not privy to certain information, where they can better themselves through entrepreneurship or even networking with individuals who have made it in their fields. Their perspective fields. We cover so many stories on a daily basis of young people out there, doing crazy stuff. What is this young man say to you about the future of young people in this country . Well you know because of the story that just recently occurred on the news we were talking about it in the green room, and that they just dont get it and they dont have the outlet, they dont have the information that we provide to you through our boys to men program. If there were more programs within the communities, i think that we would have less than what you what is being reported here today. Well see the snow switching over to rainfall if you live closer to the shore. Cape may to Atlantic City. And more of a wintry mix for parts of south jersey. How much snow will we get . 3 to 6 inches for the poconos and Lehigh Valley. Montgomery, bucks county, 1 to 3 inches. That extends down to burlington county. Gloucester camden cape may. Those are all included in that 1 to 3 inch category. And then if you take a closer look as you move closer to Atlantic City dover, southward, one inch or less.
