Now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. Quite a roller coaster with temperatures over the last couple of days, with more coming, and its much colder across the entire area today. 65 degrees yesterday. We had some snow and sleet generally north and west of philadelphia during the morning hours. Not especially heavy and the temperatures above freezing, but temperatures are going to go up tonight. Were not going to have to worry about things icing over. But the clouds, theyre going to hang in, all day, all night, all day tomorrow. 37 degrees with rain in philadelphia. Now the wind is northeast at 10. 23 degrees colder than at this time yesterday. But its above freezing, just barely, reading, 33, lancaster, 33, 34 in glassboro, 36 in trenton, mt. Holly, millville, 33 in stone harbor. Theres warmer air down to the south that will eventually be coming in. But in the meantime, 27 degrees colder in millville than it was at this time yesterday. What a change. Now we have rain from philadelphia southward, but we have breaks back to the west. So it wont be raining all afternoon. And some snow patchy area, generally light snow. But even in that area, north of harrisburg, some of it is changing over to rain. The atmosphere is trying to warm up. Eventually whatever is falling here is going to turn to rain. But it is snow right now in parts of the upper chester montgomery, bucks counties. Temperature above freezing. So melting on the roads. And its not especially heavy. We did have a little burts of sleet in parts of the area a couple of hours ago, so it can seem to come down pretty hard. It can get a glaze on your car windshield and maybe get the sidewalk a little icy. You got to watch out for that tonight. Then theres this other batch of precipitation moving right to the poconos. Thats the main area that will be affected by this Winter Weather advisory from 1 00 this afternoon to 1 00 tomorrow morning. Heres the future weather. You can see that its very patchy. Kind of breaks up a bit as we head toward the late afternoon. Another little patch tonight. But look what happens here. This is just about all rain. Not sleet, not snow. Certainly not snow. The atmosphere will be too warm. And tomorrow we have clouds, we have some fog and maybe a little bit of rain and drizzle in the morning, but not sleet or snow or ice. The cold rain this afternoon at times that wintry mix north and west. Temperatures hardly budging, but at least theyre not going down significantly. Tonight temperatures going up slight. Pi patchy little light rain, foggy, but not icy and not snowy. Tonight look at tomorrow, 53 degrees. Again its going to be cloudy. Fog in the morning. Could be a little bit of light rain, but the only day that i expect to be sunny this week, its thursday. Then its colder. Only 45 degrees. Rain comes back in by friday night, saturday looks pretty wet and possibly the rain lasts into early sunday. Thank you, glenn. We have breaking news at this hour out of washington, d. C. Heres a live look at the ben franklin bridge. Nbc 10 first alert chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz is here with the forecast. Yeah, vai, kind of a nasty start to the day after 65 degrees yesterday. We have snow on the radar and some sleet and some rain. The rain looks a little heavier than the snow or sleet. Thats in delaware or south jersey, but theres an area of some light snow. The pink is the sleet. Those are ice pellets that bounce when they hit the ground. And if the temperatures low enough, could cause a little ice on the car windshields, for example. The other area of snow farther up to the north is growing a little bit. And that is headed straight toward the poconos. Now, thats the area where the temperatures are below freezing, so the roads in this area have the best chance of having some real slippery conditions this afternoon and into the evening hours. As far as chester, montgomery, bucks county, theres a little of snow, a little bit of sleet, a little bit of rain. The key is the temperature, and generally staying above freezing. Thats why theres no Winter Weather advisory for those counties. There is for berks and lehigh counties northward from 1 00 p. M. To 1 00 a. M. The temperatures very close to the freezing mark. Higher elevations might be just a little bit below, like for example mt. Pocono is 27. So certainly capable of seeing some of that snow sticking on surfaces, but farther to the south, above freezing and its going to stay that way. This is the futurecast as we go through the afternoon, see the precipitation generally getting lighter, sometimes it will just stop completely and the temperature holding pretty steady and if anything, starting to go up a little tonight. That[l is the real important issue. More about the next storm that does look like its going to affect the weekend with the sevenday in just a few minutes. Checking out our other top stories. Now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. Well, its almost felt like springtime yesterday and back to winter today. Much, much colder, about 25 degrees colder than yesterday. Some parts of the area have seen some snow. Others some sleet. Others rain. It will be warming tonight, though, and that is critical because were just barely above freezing in parts of the area and even a few degrees with a temperature drop would cause some big problems. But right now dont think thats going to happen. We have cloudy skies. That is going to continue. 37 degrees with light rain. We did have some sleet even at the airport. Within the past hour. Northeast wind at 10 Miles Per Hour and were 23 degrees colder than we were at this time yesterday. Saturday was 45, sunday 59, 65 yesterday, 40 for the high today, and then back up tomorrow. Then back down on thursday. And back up over the weekend. But not quite as much of a difference as weve seen from yesterday to today. Okay, heres a close look at some of the temperatures. Very close as a matter of fact to the freezing mark. Reading, coatesville, doylestown, 33 degrees. We have to monitor these every hour as we go through the afternoon because were so close to the freezing mark. And in some places where its snowing the temperature could drop. 34 in Kennett Square and washington township. 36 in trenton, 37 in wrightstown. Farther to the south, it is warmer for avalon, 42. Atlantic city is 46 degrees. Heres the live radar. A good bit of rain in delaware and south jersey, but back to the west where everythings coming from its a little bit drier. Just some patchy areas of light snow or flurries, looks like its even tapering off right now in parts of montgomery and bucks county. You still have that wet weather in philly. And even in parts of philadelphia like Mount Airy West oak lane getting a little bit of snow, glenside, temperature above freezing at least for now. And over the last couple of hours we have seen somewhat drier air try to come in, but theres moisture thats headed especially toward the poconos and i think thats the area that has the greatest threat of getting some slippery roads. Berks county, Lehigh Valley, were going to have to keep an eye on it. Hour by hour during the afternoon, be here all day watching this. The general trend is for drying out, but not clearing out. And then as we go into later tonight, another batch of precipitation comes in, but by this time the atmosphere is way too warm for snow. So it looks like it would be rain as we head overnight. Not icing up kind of rain, then tomorrow morning just cloudy and damp. Not real pretty. But not icy or snowy. For tomorrow by afternoon into the 50s with a southwest wind, a lot of clouds the next couple of days, but thursday the one day with sunshine we cool down, rain comes in friday night and into saturday maybe even saturday night and a couple models keep it into sunday.
