In fact, after his preliminary hearing, state troopers stopped him on the courthouse steps for at least 30 seconds, then slowly walked him around the side of the building before driving him back to the pike county jail. He spent the last seven weeks on the run surrounding the pocono mountains, alluding police until last night. He was found in an abandoned airport hangar in tannersville by a group of u. S. Marshals helping the search. This was not a result of a tip or a sighting. This was a result of the ongoing pressure put on frein by law co house to house, cabin to cabin, as a result of that, one of the teams in this case, u. S. Marshals, located him as part of a routine sweep through the woods. Reporter we are told 31yearold eric frein surrendered without a struggle. He had several weapons on him. They found additional weapons inside the hangar where he had been hiding out. You saw in the video he had cuts to his face, across his nose and across his left cheek. We asked about that. State police spent the last seven weeks combing the dense woods, telling people they couldnt leave their homes. School was canceled for a bit. Hunting season was delayed and halloween was canceled. I felt he was still in the area. For the kids in the region, theres a special treat, halloween is now back on. This morning, many are remembering the state trooper who died in the attack. Investigators believe it started inside a third floor apartment. You see residents ran from the building with just the clothes on their backs. Some had to be rescued. We spoke to one of the people. A federal investigator says the pilot reported a problem with the left engine just after takeoff. The plane was back was on its way back to the airport when it crashed. Those who died are believed to be the pilot and three people who were in a Flight Simulator inside that building. In illinois, three members of a family are dead after their suv was hit by a freight train. This collision happened in a town of vandalia, its a block away from where the halloween parade was about to start. A woman, boy and girl were killed. Two other people in the suv were hurt. The cause is under investigation. Officials believe the bars and lights at the crossing were functioning properly. This Morning Police in washington, d. C. Are searching for a man who tried to attack an officer with an ax. They say the man hit the officers car window around 3 00 this morning. The officer attempted to tackle the attacker. Maine Health Officials have asked a court to limit the movement of nurse kaci hickox who defied a voluntary quarantine for medical workers who have treated ebola patients. Officials filed documents yesterday. The judge issued a temporary order until a ruling expected today. Police are monitoring her but they cant detain her. She returned to the u. S. Last week after treating ebola victims in west africa. Two days in a row, she defied the states ebola quarantine, including taking this bike ride with her boyfriend just yesterday. One told us the difference between paying to park in a lot and riding Public Transportation could be as much as 10 a day. Here are a few of their comments between classes.
