Reporter the south jersey red cross says a total of three families were evacuated overnight during the Early Morning hours from rhonda drive here in millville. You can see the extreme damage to this home. The basement and the foundation. The video shows extensive damage from floodwaters and flooding during the Early Morning hours. Additionally south jersey gas said three homes had gas leaks which eventually shut off. All heavy and fast, neighbors say there was no defense. It was just a torrential downpour for about four to five hours. There was nothing you could do. Just hold on and look at the water rise. One woman was injured when she was sleeping in her basement like this and the floodwaters knocked in the wall collapsing it onto her. She was rushed over to cooper hospital and there with broken bones. Residents say the cleanup will begin today after rainfall they havent seen in quite sometime. In millville, Cumberland County, jesse gary. Too much water in too short a time. Atlantic City Police Officer hurt while directing traffic away from flooding on 40 to the expressway. A driver from millville struck the officers patrol car at a high rate of speed. Seabrook treated for head, neck and knee injuries. Severe flooding caused this rescue in maryland. Crews pulled a woman from her car after it stalled in floodwaters. In baltimore roads flooded and cars stuck in the rising water. This happened during heavy rain around 10 30 last night on the 1800 block of bensalem boulevard in bensalem. The road was closed while crews removed the tree and fixed downed power lines. Right now people who live at a Cumberland County group home remain evacuated after a wall collapsed in the basement there. Five special needs adults and three Staff Members left geno, a group home after waking up to find that collapsed wall. Fire Officials Say flooding in that area did not cause the wall to collapse, because the property is on high ground. But the heavy rain did play a role. When you get six plus inches of rain, the soil becomes saturated, the hydraulic pressure on block walls has a potential to cause cracks. Once a crack starts, it just travels and collapses. The department of licenses and inspections is checking out that building. Residents wont be allowed back inside until they determine its safe. Thats when we had huge downpours that affected new jersey and delaware. Mostly those were the areas this got the heaviest amounts of rain, especially new jersey.
