Investigators are trying to figure out how a fire started in a vacant building that used to house an auto body shop. This happened in river side before 2 30 a. M. Luckily no one was hurt. Witnesses saw someone running from the scene. Police are investigating. Also new from overnight, rescue crews were called to a neighborhood after an amtrak worker got spooked working on power lines. Nbc 10 ontyson avenue and keystone before 3 00. The worker more than 150 feet in the air was able to get down on his own. Right now its not clear what caused him to need help. From our south jersey bureau, police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened around 11 30 on the 300 block of bank street in bridgeton. No arrests and police have not arrested the victims identity. At the jersey shore, state police are investigating a crash at a racetrack that killed a driver yesterday during a race clinic at wall stadium speed way. Police say a 21yearold woman was driving a three quarter midget car when it hit a wall killing her. The victims name has not been released. No one else was hurt. The track cancelled races the rest of the night. Now to a developing story. One person is in Critical Condition after being shot during overnight protests in ferguson, missouri. This was not a Police Involved shooting. Authorities say it happened on the street thats been a busy spot for protests over the last week. Theyre now searching for the gunman. Seven people were also arrested overnight and charged with failing to disperse during a midnight to 5 00 a. M. Curfew. Demonstrations in ferguson have been going since last saturday when a Police Officer shot and killed 18yearold Michael Brown who was unarmed. Here in our area, a peace vigil held at 30th and godfrey in north philadelphia yesterday. Organizers told nbc 10 they hope what happened in ferguson never happens here. They want to have a working relationship with police. The Police Department in ferguson township, pennsylvania is taking heat on social media after last weekends shooting in missouri. The department in Center County is responding to posts on facebook and twitter saying, youve got the wrong guys. Theyre 750 miles away from where the shooting happened in ferguson, missouri. We have a small crowd thats formed at love park. Theyve got cameras out and ready. Some had been out here for a couple of hours. This is what theyre going to watch. Right up there the pnb letters removed later this morning. Were waiting for a helicopter to come in and take 12 letters down. Then those letters will be moved to the north side of city hall. Theyll be loaded up on trucks and taken out of here. Take a look at video that we shot earlier this morning. Police had to tape off this entire area to make sure that no traffic was getting through. To make sure no pedestrians could get through because of that activity. Theyre moving letters from one spot to another loading them on a truck. Around city hall, it is shut down for the moment. Also, setpa buses had to be rerouted as well. Ive been talking to folks out here who came out to see this iconic structure, this lettering come down once and for all. This building was built in 1932. Those letters have been up there since the 1950s. Pnb stands for Philadelphia National bank. They owned the building until the mid 90s. That building was recently sold for 68 million. The Philadelphia Historical organization had to approval this removal. They can last month. Folks out here say this is sentimental. I think it is iconic. I dont know, its something ive been seeing as long as i can remember when i look up in center city. The hub of philly. It will be missed. I think its a shame. Its snnot a company, time to g. Hopefully it works well taking it i down. Those look like heavy letters. Reporter in fact each of the letters weighs 3,000 pounds which brings in the point of the entire area being courted off, secured with Police Activity making sure no one is Walking Around when the helicopter takes the letters off and moves them from one spot to another. The man then choked the driver with a phone cord before taking his money and run ago way. Were getting the final minutes of a murder victim who was shot and killed in a philadelphia neighborhood. 27yearold Paul Mckernan seconds before the shooting in overbrook, he walked into this Chinese Restaurant friday night. When he walked out, there was a confrontation with another man. Followed him and shot him in the throat. My heart breaks. It feels like my heart was ripped out of my chest. Detectives are reviewing Surveillance Video to try and track down a suspect in the case. Yesterday hundreds of people said a final farewell to those children. The service for 4yearold twin sisters maria and marialla bowah, brothers Patrick Sanyeah and taj jacque was held. 500 attend ted. Fire marshal ruled the fire a that killed the kids as undetermined cause. The parents still want answers. Government or investigators, what happened . How it happen . So i want to know how it happen. Fire marshal says the damage at the scene was too extensive to determine an exact cause. Happening right now. A helicopter is on the scene to start removing the letters from the top of the Philadelphia NationalBank Building in center city. You can see the cloud that gathered here. Theyve got camera phones out. Theyve been waiting at least a couple of hours. The roads around this area had been shut down at 6 00 this morning to allow for the area to be secure so that the helicopter could come in and take the letters off the building safely so that no one was in danger. Whats happening now, the helicopter is hovering over the building. The letters, 12 of them, three on each side. Each is going to be removed. Theyre 3,000 pounds each. Theyll be take ton north side of city hall, close to where were standing now. Just to give you history on this building. It was build in 1932. That lettering has been a part of the skyline since the 1950s. It stands for Philadelphia National bank which owned the building until the mid 90s. The building was recently sold for 68 million. In fact the Philadelphia Historical commission had to approve this removal. They did so last month. Theres a lot of nostalgia associated with this signage. As were looking line, they have a p there the other side of the building now being airlifted. This is one of 12 letters that is being taken off this building. You see the helicopter there.
