Theyll be live with us when we get started on a sunday morning here on today. Well see you at 8 00. Lq . Getting along with a divided government, thats the challenge facing the incoming 114th congress and the white house. Its the top issue on meet the press this morning. Joining us now for a preview is moderator chuck todd. Good morning, chuck. Good morning, rosemary. With the new Republican Controlled Congress about to get under way, is there any hope that they can coexist with president obama and his agenda . Well they have to and its certainly the number one issue that appears to be that Many American voters have on their plate, which is simply to see washington get along a little bit. Its in both political interests of the president and republicans to try to work together. I think were going to see a test in the first two months of this relationship. I think republicans will pass the standalone bill pretty early this month, test the president s spine and his threat of the veto pen. That will be confrontation number one. And then, of course by the end of february, republicans have to come up with a funding plan for the department of Homeland Security as a response to the president s executive action on immigration. How those two issues play out, how confrontational does it get i think will set the tone for the rest of the year and will tell us if in the other issues where there is Common Ground taxes, trade, things like that whether well see progress or not, i think it all depends on how these first two issues play out. Its 2015 of course. Not 2016. But speculation is revving up about the race for the white house. We are seeing jeb bush make some moves. Should we expect official announcements in the coming weeks . Well its because of those jeb bush moves that its scrambled i think the timelines for a lot of candidates. There had been a hope that this, unlike 08, that the president ial campaign would launch later in the year. Bejeb but jeb bush deciding to throw his hat in the ring much earlier, has now pushed up other timelines. We saw Mike Huckabee just last night announced the ending of his show fairly abruptly and surprisingism i think he hangs on to that show another couple months had jeb bush announced early. So i think that could suddenly expedite some announcements. I think a couple candidates could be in by president s day. Chuck todd moderator of meet the press. Thank you, chuck. You got it.
