And dylan has our forecast on that big cold snap thats going to hit much of the country this week. Its all ahead when we get started on a sunday morning. Were trying not to say the words polar vortex around here, but i think its going to be hard to do this. All right, thank you, guys. Well see you in a few. All right. Coming up, a republican sweep to political power and a boost in the economy the voters didnt feel. Those are the top issues that will lead the discussion on nbcs meet the press today. Joining us for a preview is chuck todd. Good morning, chuck. Good morning, rosemary. And following the gop wave in tuesdays Midterm Election, is there any hope of seeing an end to washington gridlock and dysfunction . Should americans be hopeful in the year ahead . I would have a healthy bit of skepticism on that. Everybody said the right things this week. But i wouldnt call it a kumbaya moment just yet between everybody. Look, theres two big issues here that are still potential ways for gridlock to return. One is on health care. Do the republicans get aggressive, try to go after it again, antagonize democrats, antagonize the president on the health care law, vice versa, what does the president do on immigration. Republicans say if he acts too aggressively, they will consider that antagonistic. So you can easily see how both parties could basically antagonize each other to the point where gridlock returns. But they could compartmentalize both of those issues, and focus on things like trade, energy, and taxes where there are some signs that maybe compromise is there. And we may be at a point where its in the best interest of both parties. The only time you ever have big bipartisan deals is when both sides believe its in their actual political best interests to do it. Maybe we have hit that point for the first time in the obama era. Chuck, there was some good Economic News on friday with the Unemployment Rate falling to 5. 8 . But people still seem to be jittery about spending. Theyre not confident in our countrys economy. Whats going on here . Look, were going to have a deeper di eer dive on this. Have the ceo of starbucks on. They havent felt the recovery at all. Youve had the economic recovery booming in some places, particularly in urban areas. Even in suburbs to those bigger cities. The other issue is this wage issue. And i think that explains look, the economy was a huge backdrop to tuesdays elections. Its why republicans won in a lot of places because people were unhappy with the economic recovery. They dont feel like theyre feeling it the way they should, despite the statistics. The statistics make it seem as if it should be booming. But you throw in wages and you throw in the fact that its uneven, and thats why you have this general feeling that its not that there isnt momentum there. All right, chuck todd, moderator of meet the press. Appreciate your perspective, chuck. You got it. The Midterm Election results, a change in washington, or more of the same . You could tell its getting desperate, because its kind of its trying to go for help. Its actually approaching a human.
