A Business Owner headed to work. The victim says he identified himself as a narcotics officer. And when the victim became suspicious, he began to call the real police. Took out his phone, dials 911, with that the actor grabs the phone, takes the phone tells him he wants all the payroll money, puts him down on the ground and takes his house keys, his car keys a wallet with a large amount of cash in it. He produces a what he calls a semiautomatic weapon that has a black handle. Happened before 9 00 this morning in a parking lot behind the shop in the 800 block of main street. The man wasnt wearing a uniform. Instead, police say a black thermal shirt, blue jeans and they say the badge was silver and hung around his neck. If hes out there doing it and has a badge, this is Something Else thats going on. We have no other information from anywhere else that this has happened in the second place. And police want to keep it that way. Thats why they want to know if you know who this guy is. And one other note. They say that badge that was around his neck that did not resemble a normal police badge. It was on a silver chain. But it had a lot of numbers on it. Too many numbers, they say, for it to have been an Actual Police issue badge. Again, 10,000 reward in this case if you have any information, call darby police. Deanna durante, nbc 10 news. Tonight, police are one step closer to finding the driver responsible for a hitandrun that killed a 2yearold boy and injured his mother. Investigators say family members of the suspected driver turned the car in this case over to police this morning. Nbc 10s drew smith is live tonight in West Kensington. You spoke with the victims family again today. What do they have to say about the new development . Reporter well theyre cautiously optimistic, but the focus remains on funeral plans. Right now, its polices job to make a case against a 19yearold accused of hitting the boy and his mother and driving off. It took several days but the car finally turned up. You see it in this picture from west philadelphia. Were certain we have vehicles. Were certain. Investigators tell us the owners noticed the damage to the headlight and saw a video of their car on the news. They drove it to a police station. Theyre devastated and theyre upset, but they are cooperating and being very helpful in the investigation. They will not face charges because they told officers they let a 19yearold borrow it at the time of the hitandrun. Were told police are meeting with prosecutors to see if they can get an arrest warrant. Back in West Kensington family and friends of the victims met hand in hand. It was a family theyre remembering the 2yearold that made his mother so happy. Now friends say shes dealing with both physical pain from the car wreck and emotional grief from what happened to her son. She feels like she wants this to be done with. Wants the police to have made the case and know theres going to be prosecution going forward. But that process may drag on a little longer as Police Collect Evidence from the car and try to prove exactly who was behind the wheel when they were hit. They have to make justice with this situation. You know, its not fair. And hes still out there who knows where. And police did not release the identity of that suspect. But we learned from a Police Source who tells us that the couple who owns the car actually had properties in both kensington and west philadelphia. They do live in central pennsylvania, though, and the suspect in this case is some sort of relative. Live in West Kensington, drew smith, nbc 10 news. Another deadly hitandrun case remains open tonight. The woman allegedly behind the wheel has not yet surrendered to Philadelphia Police. 4yearold abdul wilson was hit and killed monday in kingsessing. Police recovered a vehicle. The lawyer for the suspect told nbc 10 earlier this week his client will surrender. But so far, she hasnt been asked to. Turning to weather, certainly not a washout today. But a few showers at times. New at 6 00 Philadelphia Police are looking for the man they say threatened Staff Members at the Campaign Office of a Philadelphia Council candidate. It happened at the offices in the Graduate Hospital area. Witnesses say a man walked into the office and told staffers he had a gun. No one was hurt. He wasnt in the office at the time. He said, another one of his offices was vandalized this week. Tonight, a Delaware County couple is accused of beating a little boy to death and even rubbing salt into his eyes. Shannon matthews is the boys mother, Daniel Grafton is her boyfriend. Authorities say he was watching the child the day he died back in february. They have charged him with thirddegree murder. Investigators say 2yearold mason hunt had been beaten at least 120 times on the head, body and groin. You could see where this bruising was in pinch form but also in Blunt Force Trauma where he was punched. You could see repeatedly. The boys mother is also charged with thirddegree murder. At the time of the killing, she and her boyfriend were under investigation for rubbing salt over the boys body and in his eyes. From our Jersey Shore Bureau atlantic citys fire chief will collect nearly 13,000 a month in retirement. We have new information tonight about this beating of a homeless man at a philadelphia gas station. Police have made a third arrest in this case. Today, police announced the arrest of 23yearold duggins, charged with attempted murder and other crimes. Two other people are already under arrest. This is video taken outside the gas station and shows a group of six or seven people attacking 51yearold Robert Barnes back on april 7th. Earlier this week nbc 10 spoke with the victims sister. She snapped this photo of her brother who is still in a hospital in intensive care. His head covered in staples and 40 of his skull has been removed. New at 6 00 road relief is on the way for pennsylvanias drivers. Penndot announced today it will use contractors to speed up pothole repairs in our area. Contractor crews will work the next several weeks on nearly 100 state highways. Some will begin work tomorrow. The rest are expected to start monday. The power problems persist for the new owner of the former revel casino. A judge ruled that he cannot hook up generators to equipment owned by the Utility Company hes negotiating with. The casino went dark last week after he could not come to agreement with the company. Atlantic city is fining him each day the building is without power because its considered a safety hazard. But now they could sell the site and a major country club nearby. Tim furlong spoke with some people about the potential sale. Tim, they say this could affect Property Values in their neighborhood. And jacqueline, the thought of even dupont selling some of the spots like the hotel here behind me has people talking. Really not just about the money. This 217room luxury hotel has been the spot for visiting president s and entertainers. Lots of people dont like to think of the hotel or the Dupont Country Club going away or changing. The hotel dupont is sort of the Waldorf Estoria of new england. But after dupont sold the theater operation and two of the nearby Parking Facilities speculation began growing the company will sell the hotel itself. I hope it maintains the same prominence over the years. Reporter it has tried to cut costs, a spokesperson wouldnt comment on the future of the hotel, but does say the company would sell off assets if it is good for shareholders. This could spell a problem for these guys. The company could also sell off the country club in north womenington. I think it would be a terrible shame. Its a beautiful piece of land. The three courses have hosted lpga events the club is lined with neighbors who paid lots of money for these views. They and the golfers are afraid of what could go here for dupont sells out. I am if the club would turn into a housing tract. I dont see dupont selling it to somebody who is going to build houses. A little while ago, the county executive called me personally that residents should stay calm. Yes, dupont owns the land and could try to sell it but hes going to fight to keep it as a golf course or other open space. He says itll be tough for dupont or any developer to come in here and get permits to do anything else with that piece of land. Of course, if the hotel dupont went away to a lot of people it would be the end of an era in wilmington. The family of a south philadelphia fruit vendor killed two years ago gathered at the scene of his death to remember him and to remind the community his killer is still out there. 68yearold don ly finished loading his truck outside his home when someone stabbed him several times and slit his throat. Right now, this is the best clue investigators have in the case. Police believe the man in this Surveillance Video is the suspect casually walking away after the murder. The victims son just wants justice. The second anniversary already. And we have not heard anything. There was a 25,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest.
