The report after six months of investigation with 813 interviews and backed by the medical examiner painted a gruesome picture of the master bedroom doused with gasoline that last sunday in september perform joyce suffered eight stab wounds to the head a fatal stab wound to her chest and defensive cuts on her hands. Her death ruled a homicide. John sheridans cause of death ruled suicide. With his dna, investigators say, on the gas can handle and cuts to his neck and torso. He was found in the burning bedroom underneath an armoire. While prosecutors say testing was done on a metal object melted into the floor, the sheridan loved ones say investigators never recovered any knife linked to the wounds on their fathers body. The sons say if their mother foult so hard for his life why werent there any scratches on his father or transfer of blood . The family also tells us on the weekend of the deaths in late september, that their parents, their father, had been preparing emails for an important meeting here at Cooper University hospital. Also that they had face time the night before with a grandson, even though people who investigators interviewed said John Sheridan was upset and withdrawn in the final days of his life. A septa worker goes above and beyond his bus driving duties. It happened when he saw a 4yearold girl wandering philadelphia streets alone overnight. Heres where she was found at the corner of tooresdale and magee. Drew smith is here to tell us how that septa driver jumped into action. That little girl is safe with her mother again. Attention is turning to that septa bus driver who rescued the child. Reporter bus driver Harlan Jenifer is used to working overnight and seeing the bizarre things that come with those hours. This he wasnt expecting. I was like oh, youve got to be kidding me. Reporter watch the septa Surveillance Video of a 4yearold girl soaked from the rain. She climbed onto the bus at 3 a. M. He has kids of his own so he said calling for help stopping the bus and staying with the girl was instinct. Just basic, i guess, fatherly duties. She knew exactly where she was going so she must have traveled that route before. She had to. Reporter officers took the girl to the hospital where her mother met her. A deadly stabbing spree inside a bridesburg home leaves Philadelphia Police with a mystery. A 50yearold woman is dead her mother is in Critical Condition with stab wounds and her 18yearold son is in the hospital with cuts on his hands. Investigators believe those are the only three people involved in the crime. But they are not sure who did what. Neighbors tell us police are familiar with the home. My neighbor across the street called me at 6 30 this morning because she saw ambulance and many cops. Police are waiting to talk to the son and the grandmother as soon as their conditions improve. Cracking down on crime. After a long wait hightech cameras are finally in place in a bristol neighborhood. Their job is not to record crimes but, rather, prevent them. We spoke to the townships acting police chief who says these cameras can zoom in on stores, streets and much more. Theyre tag readers, so they can actually grab a tag, they can run the tag for stolen. Police say neighbors asked for the cameras in order to control drug crimes. The family set up a go fund me site and hopes someone will help them buy a new van. They only had limited insurance. Police arrested a man who allegedly slammed that van into several cars and a home. Troy edwards is charged with a list of crimes. New at 6 00 utility worker imposters. Police in berks county tell nbc10 two men are on the prowl after stealing cash and jewelry from an elderly woman. They were posing as utility workers. Take a look at a sketch of the only suspect the victim saw. Police say he knocked on the victims door wednesday in syncing spring. He told her he was a Water Company worker. He was inside her house for about an hour. Police say he and a partner made off with about 400 and some jewelry. They abuse their power, according to the American Civil Liberties union, about Red Clay School district officials. In court papers today the aclu says red clay made it easier for people in favor of a tax increase to vote. They say the school blocked parking for some people, opposed to the tax boost. New at 6 00 solutionings for a crime epidemic in wilmington come from an unusual place. The centers for Disease Control revealed their advice to city officials less than an hour ago. Reporter the cdc just gave a sneak peek to City Council Members who asked them to come here and look at the violence problem in the city. It isnt available stot public just yet but the Council Members who were involved in this, they wanted me to have a chance to look at it so they could get information out to the people in wilmington. We met with City Council Members a moment ago. They see crime as an epidemic especially young africanamerican males. They say the cdc came up with interesting stats but they just affirmed what many people in the neighborhood already tell us. The key to cutting down crime is to getting to children earlier. You hear the term atrisk. The cdc says they need to identify the real atrisk kids sooner and take advantage of the city and state programs and figure out which ones work and which dont. Some need to be invented some need to be redone some will be thrown out. We now know we have a way of identifying a person before they commit a cite crime. How do we give them the support they need so they dont go down that path. Reporter more early identification programs seems to be the big takeaway from what im hearing. The cdc didnt give the city council a good answer on when the public can see the report. The Wilmington City Council, they want everybody to see this. A judge ruled in favor of vineland public schools. The guard was fired earlier this month after posting of the deadly shooting of a Philadelphia Police officer. Officer wilson died in a shootout in a store in philadelphia two weeks ago. Investigators say two brothers tried to rob the store and a gun battle broke out.
