Live tonight in atlantic city, im ted greenberg, nbc10 news. Late this afternoon a jury convicted a woman of murdering her husband, cutting up his body and then hiding the remains for years. The jury found Loretta Burrows guilty of stabbing her husband to death in their mays landing home in 2007. Their home is located in atlantic county. Jurors found her guilty of concealing evidence as well. Prosecutors say she dismembered her husbands body and hid his remains for six years as she moved from house to house. To our weather now. Its down to 43 in allentown and 32 at mt. Pocono. It was 71 in dover. Now its 59, so those winds really doing doing their damage here. Its 41mileanhour wind gusts in mt. Pocono. 40 miles an hour in wilmington. 33 in philadelphia. Those winds are going to die down very slowly. And the temperature goes down into the 30s this evening, so if youre headed out, you need that winter gear because theres still wind. Its going to feel like its in the 20s this evening. By tomorrow morning, its in the 20s. With the temperature plus a little wind making it feel even colder than that. And this is the storm weve been talking about for later in the week. Looks like its going to be bringing a fair amount of the area some snow just as we end winter. Ill have more on that with the sevenday in a few minutes. Crews have taken some three people to the hospital. Were still working to find out what those injuries are. Now to a baby Death Investigation in trenton, mercer county. Investigators say the girls father was getting high when he was supposed to be caring for her. 21yearold javon thomas has been arrested, now charged with child endangerment. Hes set to be arraigned in the case tomorrow. Last night a 911 caller alerted police that the 9monthold wasnt breathing. When Emergency Responders got to the home they were unable to revive her. Investigators say thomas forgot to feed and care for his own daughter. As a father, youre supposed to you know have responsibilities for your child. You dont have love in your heart for that child, you shouldnt never been around the chirn in the first place. Investigators are working to figure out what happened before the baby began having difficulty breathing last night. Were told an autopsy will be conducted. New information about a Delaware County man accused in a drunk driving crash that killed a young brother and sister on valentines day. Tonight we learned the suspect may have been reading a text message before the crash. Moments before that crash. Thomas muir of media has been behind bars since the february 14th crash. Today he waved his preliminary hearing. Police say he slammed into a mini van at route 100 and north shipp road in chester county. Court documents show muir told police he was distracted before the crash because he was reading a text message on his phone. Teenagers charlotte and miles hanigan were both killed. Two others survived. Investigators say theyre not able to determine what sparked a West Oak Lane fire that killed a fire lieutenant back in december. They say the home was so badly damaged they cant find an official point of origin for the fire. Lieutenant joyce craig died trying to save an elderly woman in that fire. She got trapped in the basement of the home here. The decorated 11year veteran was only one of 150 women serve negotiate philadelphia fire department. Reporter if you drive around here, you know this is a busy time of day. Take a look. Plymouth road is shut down according to penndot indefinitely. From butler pike to germantown, the signs are everywhere. But theyre not always believed. A sinkhole opened up friday along preliminary plymouth road shutting down. The signs were confusing. I didnt have any warning. I only take this once a week so yes, its very frustrating. Reporter penndot says if hasnt determined why the sinkhole formed and a second one formed after it it cant schedule repairs. If he asked if the construction boom in the area is playing a role. Penndot says its too early to tell. They said they have diverted water but that didnt stop that second sinkhole from forming. The blue route and i noticed how bad it was trying to get back up to campus because i was coming from the airport. Like, i circled around. I had to come around norristown. Reporter many say they had no idea the road was closed. They worry with the small bridge being a big gateway to major highways, the traffic problem isnt going to get better any time soon. An Addiction Treatment company is planning to open a rehab center on the 19acre site of the bancroft school. Bancroft announced it was moving to a new home and selling to the highest bidder. They are selling to Recovery Centers of america. State lawmakers are considering a ban on smoking Electronic Cigarettes indoors. A bill was added. Its a 12yearold law that bans smoking in restaurants, bars and other public places. Three other states including new jersey, have already banned smoking ecigarettes indoors. The fight over legalized Sports Betting in new jersey returned to a federal Appeals Court today. Lawyers for the state, the four pro sports leaguings and the ncaa argued before a judge in philadelphia. At issue whether a Sports Betting law signed by governor Chris Christie last year violates an older federal law. The federal law says states cannot sponsor, operate or advertise sports gambling. The leagues and the ncaas suit in 2012 to stop Sports Betting new. The Philadelphia Police department is looking to recruit more officers to become more diverse. Our partners at telemundo 62 spoke with a recruiter for philly pd. He told us theyre looking for more hispanic candidates to meet the growing latino community. Right now about 6500 officers in the department but only about 500 are hispanic. Last month only 26 Philadelphia Police department cadets graduated after the sevenmonth training process. New at 6 00 an outbreak of whooping cough could prevent students from going to school in Montgomery County. Three students have gotten this highly contagious disease and officials want to keep it from spreading even more. Its definitely a shocker considering we supper had this outbreak before. This High School Senior is talking about whooping cough. Three ninth graders have confirmed cases fortunate bacterial illness, also known as per pertussis. Two more students have suspected cases of it. A lot are surprised by it dont know how to handle it and are cautious. Theyve had outbreaks in the past. They are able to overcome it. Reporter the School District says its cleaning the high school and checking others for signs of illness. The county Health Department said sickened students took antibiotics and are back in school. All five students are vaccinated. There are exemptions for medical, religious and strong moral or ethical convictionses. The school tells us if your child is exempt from immunization immunization, he or she may be removed from school during an outbreak. The chair of pediatrics at Temple School of medicine says pertussis, which got its name because of the whooping sound, can hit those under 6 years old especially hard. Its third to a quarter of children who get whooping cough will be hospitalized with pneumonia or they can also have seizures, they can stop breathing, and about 1 to 2 of children in that age group can actually die from whooping cough. Health Officials Say there are two main reasons vaccinated people catch whooping cough. One is over time the vaccination wears off. And you are also at risk if you are not fully immunized. Its never too late to get vaccinated. Tonight a Penn State Fraternity is suspended over allegations its members posted nude photos of women to a secret Facebook Page. Police say a former member of Kappa Delta Rho tipped off investigators to the Facebook Page which shows naked women passed out or sleeping. National headquarters suspended the fraternity over the page. State College Police say she the want to talk to potential witnesses and victims. The man who broke his back when his kensington home collapsed on him this weekend is having surgery. Family members tell us eric carroll has a 50 chance of being left paralyzed. Just yesterday his dog was found alive at the collapsed site after being presumed dead. No word on a cause is there. What that does with the smoke from the fire it takes a tour down i95 Delaware River and potentially across the river into parts of new jersey. Now, we have dry conditions across the east. And then things change. This is the storm getting into texas. Got a lot of moisture with it. And here it comes. Not for thursday night but friday morning. It comes in and it looks like its going to start snow during the morning rush andn at least part of the area. It has the potential to get little bursts of snow, reducing visibility and accumulating on some grassy surfaces especially. This model has it changing to rain this afternoon.
