Well this was what Rosemary Connors was just telling us about police confronting protesters earlier when the group tried to march on the schuykill expressway. The demonstrators tried at least twice toby pass police and then get on the major interstate. It all started more than just about two hours ago when the demonstrators gathered on the main concourse. Around 4 15 the group dropped to the ground lying on the concourse for about four minutes and 30 second. That was symbolic. They said it was to signify the four hours and 30 minutes Michael Browns body was onto ground after he was shot and killed. Now to a related story you saw first on nbc10. Com. A philadelphia native is facing felony charges this evening for threatening to kill former ferguson, missouri officer darren wilson. The tlaes included his family and other members of law enforcement. Federal prosecutors said he made the threats through posts on his facebook page. Officials say he also tried to get a gun. He faces up to five years in federal prison if hes convicted. A grand jury decided not to indict officer wilson for killing Michael Brown back in august as you may know. Brown was unarmed. Five days after the grand jurys decision wilson resigned from the force. And more breaking news to tell you about right now in the case of alleged Police Brutality in new york city. The u. S. Justice department will now investigate the chokehold death of an unarmed black man in july. Today a grand jury decided not to hand down an indictment. Officer Daniel Pantaleo and several other Police Officers stoppederic garner in Staten Island for selling loose untaxed cigarettes. This video shows him refuse took handcuffed. Officer pantaleo respond by putting garner in a chokehold which is banned under a new York Police Department policy. New yorks mayor called for peace in the wake of the grand jury decision. It happened around 3 30 this afternoon. The kids were taken to a home on ryan street and managed to escape and return home. Fortunately neither child was hurt. New at 6 00 were hearing from new accusers who say bill cosby sexually assaulted them and have a plan to get him in court. Nbc 10s keith jones is live in our Digital Operations Center with these new developments. Reporter Gloria Allred now represents those two women along with a third who had already come forward. This afternoon Gloria Allred held a News Conference with those three accusers. The three women who say cosby victimized them in the 70s and 80ss. Allred called on cosby to waive the statue of limitations which means his accusers can take him to court. Allred wants cosby to set up a fund with 100 million of his own money. So if the accusers win a suit they will get paid from that account. A suit was filed last night where the accuser said cosby molested her when she was 15 years old. Its the first suit and one of those accusers spoke out this afternoon. If mr. Cosby would accept Gloria Allreds proposal i would be able to have my day in court. I want mr. Cosby to face justice for what he has done to me and to so many other women. The attorney has not responded to any of these accusers or the lawsuit today thus far. As we go through the evening the temperatures will be dropping through the 40s, of course in philadelphia area and into the 30s in some of the suburbs as we continue to clear and some of the suburbs going to get into the 20s. People dont just vanish and people have not seen anything of shane since thursday a. M. And somebody saw something. Reporter they are convinced theres someone out there who saw shane leaving kildears pub early thursday morning. That person hasnt come forward yet. I need my baby. I miss him. I got up yesterday morning after a fitful night again and i was thinking that he should be back at school. Reporter at Westchester University students are getting ready to light candles hoping for shanes return to the campus where his picture hangs inside the Student Union and a message board has been constructed in his honor. Despite days of searching the fbi visiting shanes westchester apartment and aiding in the search family members say theres still no sign of the 21yearold. Im not going to stop looking for shane until i fine him and bring him home. I want people to know how grateful i am for any information that they can come up with. I want shane to know that if he can hear me, how much i love him. And that i wont stop looking for him until i find him and bring him home to me. Reporter that was Deanna Durante reporting. We have video just in from Westchester University where that vigil for Shane Montgomery getting under way. Montgomery was a student here at the campus just about 30 miles from the search area. Allegations of segregated schools in delaware tonight the aclu says Charter Schools are perpetuating a system of inequality. Tim furlong is live in wilmington. Tim tell us about this complaint. Reporter you know i read through the complaint and the aclu is basically just saying some Charter Schools in delaware arent offering the same opportunities to all the kids in the state. 12,000 delaware kids go Charter Schools but the aclu said some students of color and with disabilities some are being left out. To me its like a country club mentality. Reporter nearly all her kids go Public Schools in rehoboth beach. She believes the Charter Schools are attracting the wealthier kids. Federal complaint the aclu says the same thing that some of delawares best performing Charter Schools are basically hand picking higher performing students generally wealthier and whiter they say while discouraging other families who cant afford extra fees or providing their kids a ride to the school. These requirements are insurmountable barriers for most lowincome africanamerican or hispanic families. Special need students. Single parent families. And the like. Reporter the aclu calms it resegregation. While the redominantly back academy the head of the Charter Academy points to schools in wilmington where the predominantly africanamerican student body is showing positive results. We dont prescreen students. Reporter the principal at Odyssey Charter School is proud his school reflects the diversity of the area. The aclu and its supporters say thats what its about. They say Charter Schools can be private if they want but need to be they are not. If a private school want as segregated atmosphere thats their right. It cannot be supported by public taxpayer money. The aclu wants to temporarily stop issuing new charters and guarantees that Charter Schools wont charge any fees that families wouldnt face at a traditional public school. You have the Ferguson Protesters who marched here from 30th street station and then also the musicians and carollers celebrating the Philadelphia Holiday Tree Lighting and the Tree Lighting is supposed to happen at 7 00. A large group of people here in city hall the crowd dominated by ferguson proefrs. It started at 4 00 this afternoon when the protesters gathered at the 30th street station grand hall. They got on the ground to signify the time Michael Brown was on the ground after he was shot and killed by Police Officer darren wilson. Weve been reporting on throughout this afternoon throughout our newscast, Philadelphia Police have been marching with these protesters to make sure that they didnt get on the schuykill expressway and vine street expressway. I spoke to the chief inspector who is out here one of the Deputy Police commissioners. They told me this is one of the most unpredictable crowds and most unpredictable protesters they worked with so they are trying to make sure everybody stays safe and that traffic does not come to a complete halt. Shane has been missing since almost a week ago when he disappeared early thanksgiving morning last seen outside a pub in manayunk. His fellow classmates are gathering here to show their support. Theres a reward. His family and friends all this past week have been putting out flyers and conducting an extensive search along with the fbi. A vigil taking place right now on the campus of Westchester University for missing students Shane Montgomery. Large turnout there tonight. A 100 million makeover is on the way for the Commodore Perry bridge. The go ahead was given for the work to get under way. Project will take about five years. Goodwill industries is warning that a growing number of them are starting to partner with for Profit Companies and what that may mean the clothes donate may not be going to where you think they are going. Everything thats dropped off at Goodwill Industries goes straight into their local Thrift Stores according to the charity. Its on the job Training Programs for people with disabilities. Reporter but they are seeing an alarming trend of ge he in rick clothing donation binns showing up every where. Textiles recycle cigarette a huge business right now. Everything is packed in 1,000 bales, shipped overseas. Reporter donors think the clothes they give are going to the needy in their community. But some are renting their names for a small amount of money. Any time you have a for profit middle man involved in the donation process they are the ones who benefit in the end. It makes me feel sad. I feel sad people would take advantage like that. Theres a lot of people that need it. Reporter goodwill says the for profit boxes take clothing away from the people who need it and donors dont get a receipt for a tax deduction. Watchdogs like charity navigator. Org say people should call the phone number on these boxes and research the charity to see just how much money they actually get. You can tell if its enough and if not look at their tax forms really quick and just make a good assessment. Reporter one other recommendation from charitynavigator. Nothing left on the radar. We finally get that rain out of here and that sets us up for a decent day tomorrow. Friday its downhill again. Here comes rain from the west. That moves in later in the day or at night. Then as this low gets closer it gets heavier, saturday night especially. Then as the low hits the coast it becomes a noreaster. So the wind increases and the rain stays there. Thats for sunday. High pressure to the north, that adds to the wind. Keeps the moisture in. Blocks this low.
