Today, elite cyclists from around the world will tackle the famed manayunk wall when they compete if the Philadelphia International cycling classic. Just within the past maybe 20 minutes or so you can see a little bit more activity as people come out and start to get things stet up and prepped for the beginning of the race at 8 00 this morning. But before that you should know, if you have a vehicle in this area and were standing on manayunk avenue you want to come get your car. This is video we took a little while ago shows cars being towed from this area by the Philadelphia Police department. This is a 12. 3 mile race course and if your vehicle is parked anywhere near here and there are signs clearly posted saying no parking. If you left your vehicle here overnight, you better come get it as fast as you can, because they are towing this morning. The victim is in Critical Condition with a chest wound. The shooting happened around 12 45 this morning. We are working to find out some more information about that victim. Also new from overnight, a man shot during a robbery in philadelphia is in stable condition. Nbc 10 was on this street on north fairhill street where the shooting happened inside of a house around 11 45 last night. The gunman who knew the victim shot him in the leg and then took his necklace and ran. The shooter is still on the loose. A young man is in stable condition after he was injured in a hitandrun. Authorities tell us the 18yearold was walking on ridge avenue in Strawberry Mansion when he was hit by a black car which then took off. This happened around 10 00 last night. Police are now searching for the driver. The packed church was a testament to how much beau biden meant to delaware and to the country. Thousands attended his funeral yesterday from the president to the general public. He did in 46 years what most of us couldnt do in 146. He left nothing in the tank. The funeral mass was held at st. Anthony of Padua Catholic church in wilmington yesterday. The 46yearold former attorney general for delaware and oldest son of the Vice President died last weekend after a battle with brain cancer. Many from the first state turned out to pay their respects. He was one of a kind. Truly cared about people and making sure that kids and the elderly were safe. It was beautiful hearing, you know, what people had to say about him. You knew more about you felt connected, because you knew more about him on a different level. Those who could not make it inside the church stood along the streets outside with flags and signs to show their support for the biden family. In the Lehigh Valley a neighborhood is mourning the death of a 3yearold girl after she and her older sister fell from an apartment window. Last night on turner street neighbors lit candles and brought teddy bears to the scene of the accident. Tamara arnette died. Her 5yearold sister remains in the hospital in Critical Condition. Authorities say the screen of the window was defective and loose. Neighbors are now demanding inspections at the apartment complex. Look at the windows. See if you have children thats on high floors. Make sure that theyre protected. Do something. Dont just ignore it. Police say they do not expect to file charges against the girls grandmother, whom witnesses say was on the scene. Police began searching for eitel wednesday night after his exgirlfriend, carol browne was stabbed to death in the driveway of her house in berlin township. She had a protection order against eitel. Happening thousand a manhunt is underway in uptown new york for two attempted murderers who escaped from a maximum security prison. Authorities say both inmates who have been identified as richard mat and david sweat are considered to be a danger to the public. Heavily armed state troopers and k9 units have been searching neighborhoods near the Clinton Correctional Facility. Its about 25 miles from the Canadian Border in upstate new york. Officials say the prisoners used power tools to cut through the wall of their cells and then navigated a maze of tunnels and exited through a manhole just outside of the prison grounds. Lily adkins is a cancer survivor, 9 years old. The family succeeded in breaking the record. The cup held more than 1,700 gallons. Proceeds from the event go to the alexes lemonade foundation. New this morning, in new york, an arson squad is now examining a boat that caught fire off the coast of long island. The flames forced the crew overboard. The three men on the boat noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment last night. Police say that they told them they tried to put it out with a fire extinguisher. When that didnt work they put on life jackets, jumped into the water, and called 911. Police pulled them out moments later. No word on a cause, but the arson squad is participating in the investigation. Now to some new information out of china, where the death toll from a cruise ship disaster on the Yangtze River has now topped 430. We also have new video of rescue workers and government officials mourning the deaths during a ceremony today. About three dozen people are still missing. The ship capsized in a storm this past monday. Authorities have arrested the captain and first engineer. They survived. Searchers in texas have found another body they believe is related to the floods that happened memorial day weekend. The man was discovered near the blanco river yesterday. Crews are still searching for three people missing in that area. At least 23 people across the state have died in the floods. As a matter of fact, theyre get everything set up right now for the start of the race. Theres a fun ride thats beginning over on sedgely in about 15 minutes or so. But you can see right here most of the activity focused on getting the starting line and the finishing line all prepped for the big race through philadelphia. This is an International Event that pulls cyclists and spectators from all over the country and world. The men will do nine laps the ladies six with each loop ending at the famed manayunk wall. I asked the fire marshal about the danger of mixing that many cyclists with people moving around, trying to get the best view of the race. Later on in the day, the lack of focus by the spectators where theyre just worried about getting across the street or enjoying what theyre doing and clearing the course so that no one has to stop. Because this is a very hard situation. This morning, a Lehigh Valley neighborhood is grieving for a 3yearold girl who died after falling from an apartment window. The tragedy happened in allentown on friday night. The victim and her older sister fell more than 40 feet from the window to the ground. Nbc 10 was on turner street last night for a memorial vigil. People lit candles and lady teddy bears on the sidewalk beneath the fourstory window. 3yearold Tamara Arnette died. Her 5yearold sister tiana, remains in the hospital in Critical Condition. The coroner has ruled the death an accident. Police say that they do not expect to file any charges against the girls grandmother, whom witnesses tell us was on the scene and watching the girls. She, you know would never intentionally put the girls in harms way. Its very painful. The sad part about it is like when i look up i cant imagine. Police tell us that their investigation has revealed a flaw in the window inside of the apartment. According to investigators, the screen was loose and even the slightest push would have popped it out. The robbery happened friday night. The suspect got away with an unknown amount of cash and a gray shopping bag. Now Police Believe to the same man was involved in another Armed Robbery in west deckford. If you recognize him, call 911. Happening now in upstate new york a manhunt for two escaped prisoners. Authorities say quktconvicted murderers broke out a maximum security prison some time before 5 30 yesterday morning. Heres what we know about that manhunt. As you can see, there are Many Police Officers on the ground k9 units on the ground. They are srnlging the neighborhoods near the Clinton Correctional Facility that is just near the Canadian Border in upstate new york. Heres what were finding out from the authorities. It was elaborate, it was sophisticated. It encompassed drilling through steel walls and steel pipes. So this was not easily accomplished. A new report a federal report reveals that new jersey officials did not properly award 60 million in Hurricane Sandy contracts for storm repairs. The watchdog report from the department of housing and urban development or hud, said that the state did not prepare cost estimates. According to the report those estimates were actually 9 million less after the deal was signed. The report suggests that new jersey officials repay some of the money to hud. Governor Chris Christies office is responding to the news admitting that the report does raise issues that, quote, dont square with the facts. Next castaway for free.
