Deliberations ongoing since april 15th. Last week they told a judge they couldnt reach a decision. In 2012 hernandez of maple shade confessed for the crime. His lawyer argues the confession is false. Etan patz disappeared walking to a school bus alone. His body was never found. The 6yearolds disappearance helped draw National Attention to the plight of missing children and their families. He was among the first missing children pictured on a milk carton. Nbc 10 has new information on a house fire in Chester County that killed three members of the same family. West callan police tell us a fire was started by carless smoking. The fire broke out around noon yesterday. Sally, her sister rolanda and daughter angel all died when they became trapped on the deck behind the house. Neighbors say the wind and the dry conditions made matters worse. When i saw the smoke, fire engines coming up excuse me, and police and everything i knew what it was, i couldnt get up there. Theyd gathered at the home to mourn the loss of another relative that passed away on sunday. And neighbors rescued an elderly woman as fires swept through several houses this morning. Sky force 10 over east laurel street in redding. The fire spread to six homes in the house where the fire started collapsed. You can see it there in the video. One neighbor told us the elderly woman living in one of the motor homes didnt want to leave, so they dragged her out. The red cross is helping more than a dozen people who are now homeless. Well a lot of people are talking about this one vehicle crash. The reason a rider who crashed his motorcycle is a pennsylvania lawmaker. Live in allentown. And police tell us that pat browne had been involved in a couple of duirelated crashes in the late 1990s and say there was something about the accident scene out here this weekend that made them take blood samples on this one. We have not received toxicology results yet. And well proceed according to what we find from the lab results. State police say they took blood samples from Pennsylvania State senator pat browne. Investigators say brownes motorcycle crash saturday afternoon made the trooper on the scene suspect it might be a driving under the influence case. Based on what he saw at the scene, he decided he had enough reason to request a legal blood draw from the guy driving the motorcycle. The republican lawmaker from allentown sits on the powerful state Senate Appropriations committee and wrote legislation that spurred allentowns massive growth. But state police say to them pat brown is just another blood sample sent to a private lab. And they say the fact that the results arent back yet does not indicate any socalled special handling. Nbc 10s renee is here. What did activists ask Loretta Lynch to do . Well they believe the three deaths in Cumberland County are part of a National Pattern of police abuse. They want the nations top cop to investigate Cumberland County Police Departments and the sheriffs office. Where theres smoke, there is fire. And we need someone to come in and put the fire out. Holding five books filled with signatures. Activists Walter Hudson and melissa bern left for washington. The two gave the petition to staffers of the attorney general in new jerseys u. S. Senator cory booker. Theyre calling for a closer look at Law Enforcement in Cumberland County. Systematic problems there. And its better for things to be dealt with now and prevent future problems. Back in december, reed was shot and killed during a traffic stop in bridgeton. A police dash board camera recorded the incident. The Prosecutors Office is investigating the use of deadly force in that shooting. 24yearold alyssa allen was found dead in march after being arrested for having drug pair paraphernalia and not wearing a seat belt. A few weeks later, a of they responded to a disorderly person call. Showing white being punched by an officer and bitten by a police dog. Local prosecutors investigating these cases, theres a bias. And were trying to eliminate that bias. They need to have a path to minimize, and a path to minimize police, about maximizing arrests and not about creating safe communities. The Prosecutors Office told us today the reed and white cases are still under investigation. They say they cant comment on ongoing cases. We didnt hear back from the Sheriffs Department on this. The teenage son of a south Jersey Military couple is testifying against his parents at their child abuse trial. John and Carolyn Jackson are accused of mistreating and neglecting their three adopted children. They lived in Burlington County at the time of their arrest. The trial is taking place in newark. Prosecutors allege they punish their foster children by denying them food and water and physically assaulting them. A philadelphia Streets Department worker is in the hospital tonight after he was badly burned on the job. Sky force 10 over the job site in southwest philadelphia this morning. Police tell us the worker was burned on his head, face and chest when he was changing a light fixture at 51st and woodland. Peco crews cut power tonight for a short time while police were investigating. The worker is in Critical Condition right now at presbyterian hospital. Listen to this now, two Young Mothers face charges after a 2yearold spotted on the roof of a threestory home. This is 22yearold bell of frankford. Police say they saw the child on the roof of a home. They ran to the third floor apartment, no one was home. They made their way inside rescued the child and a 1yearold who is also trying to climb out a window. A 17yearold mothers also charged. Dhs has both children. Nearly three years after superstorm sandy, new jerseys largest utility is ending a battle with the insurers. Pseg has reached settlements with insurance providers. The company filed a lawsuit claiming the insurers wrongly denied full coverage for the losses during the storm. For a Delaware Bureau there are new questions in the arrest of a Dover Delaware Police corporal who roughed up a suspect back in 2013. Dover police say Corporal Thomas webster kicked dickerson at a gas station after hed complied with the corporals command to get on the ground. At the time a grand jury chose not to indict webster. But last week delawares attorney general sent the case to a second grand jury which did indict him. The aclu is suing the city on behalf of dickerson. The local director has seen the dash cam video of the incident. Its shocking, but its not not its 15 seconds, its shocking, but its not freddie gray. Corporal webster is suspended without pay. In an email to nbc 10 his lawyer says webster is innocent and that he was protecting dover from a dangerous criminal. We turn now to an update on breaking news. Septa police say they have received a call from someone claiming to be the parents of this little girl on your screen. Officers found her about 20 minutes ago at the york dolphin station. Thats on the market frankford line in kensington. Shes 6 years old, her name is jasmine, police are now in the process of trying to reunite jasmine with her parents. Looking back and taking stock after the violence dies down. A week after raw emotion turns to acts of destruction. Government leaders are returning to baltimore. We take you to some of the most damaged sections of the city as people try to return to normal. And this is one of several wildfires that burned in our area yesterday. This Summer Season is expected to be full of similar fires. Whats being done on the National Level to help fight them. A string of brush fires in pemberton in Burlington County are out. Predicting a nightmare wildfire season in other parts of the country. Lawmakers are looking for ways to reduce the impact to communities. Members of the Forest Service testified before Senate Committee today that budget cuts are getting in the way of their jobs. They also suggest better Land Management and getting rid of underbrush and dead trees that can fuel fires. When we do have a fire its safer for our firefighters to be able to defend those homes and rereduce the severity of the fire. And, of course to always have the suppression resources that we need to be able to respond to fires. No decisions came out of todays hearing. But both sides were pleased with the open dialogue. Tonight, we are hearing from people rescued from a burning Apartment Building outside pittsburgh. More than 200 people in the building when it went up in flames saturday night. Firefighters used ladders to rescue several Senior Citizens who were trapped inside. One of them says there was no way to get out until crews showed up. We opened up the door and the hallway was full of smoke, and the smoke came in my apartment. We stayed there and got wet towels and until the fireman came. In the end, everyone made it out safely. Investigators believe a faulty power cord started the fire. All right. Weve got to hear this one. A woman shopping for bakery pans at a thrift store stumbled upon two urns containing what appears to be human ashes. The store was selling them for 3. 99 each. One of the urns contains the remains of a teenager who died in 1983. The store owner had no clue they were on the shelf. They were totally surprised, too. Everybody was shocked. They had no idea thats what it was. The store figures someone mistakenly donated the urns. Holding them until someone can explain who or what is inside. Switching gears. Were getting an answer now from the people who live there. A week later a new mural has replaced fires. In some places the cry of Police Sirens are gone, and others theyre alive and well. This is west baltimore. This is normal. But the how and why of what went down last week still not clearly defined. When something of this nature or this magnitude happens, its automatically ignites the frustration that these people already have. This is herald perrys house. He says he was home when freddie was put in the police wagon across the street. He heard the cries. Spend a day on the west side boarded up homes, few grocery stores, no amenities. Just look around, talk to someone. Rooted in opportunity, or lack thereof. They got rid of that. They had a program for the young guys that had kids called young fathers. They got rid of that. When we came up, it was a guy that ran around the corner. His name was fisher. Everybody looked to him because he looked out for us. And this looks as though it should be moving in mostly to delaware, maybe south jersey. I think a majority of any rain tonight should stay south of philadelphia. But we cant rule out some isolated showers later on late tonight. Heres future weather, so as we go through the rest of this evening, there you see some showers, south jersey and delaware, by 8 00 p. M. , kind of moving in from that cluster to our west. And then even by midnight theres a chance we could see some more rain move through. That will be passing overnight. Your morning commute looks fine by 8 00 in the morning, well be dealing with clouds and some slightly cooler temperatures. The clouds hang around a few passing showers, and temperatures will be 10 degrees cooler than today. Then by thursday a little more in the way of sunshine breaking out. Temperatures staying in the 70s still very comfortable tuesday. But that warmer air starts to arrive friday and even into the weekend. For tonight, though few evening showers still in the forecast. Theres always a chance we could still see a thunderstorm. Cant rule that out. 64 for the low in philadelphia mid50s north and west. And then well see the clouds continuing tomorrow. This will give us cooler temperatures, too, with a bit of a change in the wind direction. 72 to 75 degrees. So about 10 degrees cooler than today. John, thank you. Could the Pennsylvania Legislature be shrinking . Thats the debate at the state house right now. A proposals up for a vote that would reduce the house by about 1 4. It would knock the current 203 members to 151 representatives. The goal here is to make the legislature more efficient. Reducing the size of the legislature requires a constitutional amendment. So it has to pass both chambers in two consecutive twoyear sessions. Theres also a pending proposal to cut the number of senators from 50 to 38. Pennsylvania, by the way, has the largest fulltime legislature in the country. A new Jersey Community is banding together. Thats right. And theyre doing it to save a deer. One unique deer. Word of caution here, too. Some may find this story disturbing. Heres why. This is the young doe theyre all interested in. And youve got to look closely here. You can see the arrow is sticking through. Why neighbors are stepping in ahead of wildlife officers. Leaders in wilmington discuss the future of a city called murdertown usa by a major magazine. Nbc 10 at the annual meeting. Community leaders say they know there are negative perceptions of wilmington. There have been 11 homicides since the start of the year. Thats four more than this time last year. But today, leaders focused on the positive. This is about establishing that identity and sense of place in downtown that says this is a place you want to come where youre safe to come, where your family can come. This is the ninth year the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation has hosted this meeting. All right. Check this out. Animal rights activists say theyre taking matters into their own hands. They want to save a deer that has an arrow lodged in its snout for the past six months already. Wildlife officials have been trying to tranquilize the doe, but so far, without success. Brian thompson has exclusive details and video of the deer from marlboro monmouth county. This video is heartbreaking to animal lovers. I feel bad for it. Its injured and its been going a long time. According to the state dep, this doe has had an arrow protrudeing from her head for six months. Shes part of a herd of more than a dozen deer we found on this land. A herd that many in this neighborhood accept. But for this one deer, state efforts to try to tranquilize it and remove the arrow have so far failed. They have now been suspended because they believe shes likely pregnant and fear the trauma of a tranquilizer. For Animal Rights groups who took us to the scene to find this herd, thats not good enough. There could be potential for problems, could get caught on something, can it possibly get infected . Activists tell me theyre ready to take action. Though a dep spokesman tells me its illegal to tranquilize a deer without a permit. Well raise money if it its necessary to do it. But we want this deer suffering to end and then she can live her life in peace. And neighbors who see know harm in this herd want an end to hunting theyve seen in the past. They need to post something to say that because there are a lot of kids in this neighborhood. A couple of residents tell me they like to see this area posted as a no hunting zone. Tonight, Philadelphia Police are looking for this man right here after he kidnapped a woman at gunpoint. Lets get right to nbc 10s denise takana. What clues do police have . Reporter well renee and jim, they have only just a couple. But they do have a sketch and a surveillance video. This victim did not know her attacker. Forced her to get into the minivan at gunpoint and sexually assaulted her. Now, Police Released this surveillance of the minivan used in that attack on friday. Its an early 1990s dodge or chrysler minivan. And it had no rear seats. Sky force 10 over the intersection where the 22yearold woman was dropped off after she was abducted. The Victim Told Police she was forced into a van by the driver on emerald and york streets in fishtown. She was then taken to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted and then released at almond and boston street. She gave police a description of her attacker. A man about 21 to 25 years old, 57 to 510, weighing about 160 pounds. Has short brown hair and a strip of hair on his chin. Now, police again, want this man in the custody for the abduction and Sexual Assault of a 22yearold woman in fishtown. Reporting live outside the special victims unit, nbc 10 news. Also this evening, a father and his 2yearold daughter were the victims of road rage in bucks county. State police say he was afraid someone fired a shot at their car. Happened last night along the southbound lanes along i95 near exit 40 in bristol township. George spencer live in evening in bristol township. How did this all unfold . Jim, were just piecing that together, really with the criminal complaint we just got from district court. The victim says it all began when he accidentally cut off another driver as he was driving this entrance ramp to i95 last night. And his little daughter was right there in the car with him. That victim had apparently just picked up the young girl from her sitter and was headed home to philly. After accidentally cutting off that other driver the victim says that driver pulled up right next to his car
