Right now at 5 00 a tragedy in Chester County. The smoldering debris is all thats left of the house. It caught fire and burned this afternoon taking three lives. It happened in west callan township. Not much was left of that house. Rosemary connors, what are we hearing about the victims and the investigation . Reporter well, in terms of the victims, they were all family members. As for the investigation, fire marshals, office workers, theyre down there at the end of the driveway. They are wrapping up their work trying to find a cause of this blaze. Earlier this afternoon, within the past hour, i did speak to a neighbor who describes what she witnessed when this blaze broke out. This thing was totally heard all this cracking and banging and blowing up and stuff. I said what the they probably had the gas cans in the garage. Sky force 10 was over the scene of the fire after flames head engulfed the home on hill road in west callan township. Investigators with the Fire Marshals Office are now looking for a cause and keeping the scene secure. We are learning from Law Enforcement sources that the homeowner died last night and that the seven people here today were relatives gathering because of the death in the family. Its sad for everyone involved. I mean it is. Its terrible. Its terrible what happened there. A neighbor who did not want to be identified tells me he spoke to the daughter of the homeowner who was one of the survivors. I asked her how the fire started. Nobody knows, i guess. She said it started from the front porch. Thats all she said. Thats exactly what fire investigators are trying to figure out. What happened here. Now, as i said crews are down there right now. We actually have one of our crews down there getting video a little bit closer to the scene. Well bring that to you as soon as we get it on a final note according to the police chief, they do not believe that this fire was suspicious. Police say they discovered a skimming device at the bank today. Its on brick boulevard in ocean county. These are photos of the device. Tomorrow afternoon, some of the area some parts of the area will be getting a little rain relief. But i dont think itll be everybody. Its not going to be a widespread rain all day. From the air and on the ground the new Jersey Forest Fire Service is hard at work here. Thats right. Theyre battling to contain not one but five brush fires right now burning in the pine. Cydney long spent the day with crews working to contain the flames. One by one, crews with new jerseys Forest Fire Division are trying to gain the upper hand on five brush fires now burning over a span of 5 miles. Near the historic village. Weve had nice weather, folks are barbecuing, and so, i think its a good precaution to take at this time of year is to be careful with fire. But these were no accidents. Investigators tell nbc 10, someone set the fires on purpose miles apart and on a red flag warning day when a single ember can be carried by the wind and spark a new spot of flames. Theres suspicion because there was a series of fires set and theres no attributable natural cause. Two of the fires were set between 1 00 and 4 00 in the morning are now 100 contained and backfires being set to contain the others. Two men wanted for robbing a philadelphia philadelphia watch as they place an order at the counter. Police say they took money from the register and took off. Texas police are offering new details on yesterdays shooting outside a controversial art competition. They say one of the two men had been on the fbis radar a few years ago during a terrorism investigation. The two opened fire on officers outside an event showcaseing cartoons of the prophet mohammed. An officer shot and killed them both. Another officer was shot in the leg. Local reaction to the texas shooting now, some say the violence is exactly what the groups organizer wanted when she planned a contest for artists to draw the prophet mohammed. So some of you will be getting a little bit of rain relief later in the day tomorrow. So here is the red flag warning. Everyone is included in this except delaware. Thursday night eagles fans made it clear, they wanted marcus mariota. Chip kelly understands that. Hes a talented player. Hes a hell of a quarterback. That wasnt a question. But the question was, what was the toss . And to be honest with you, i dont know if anything wouldve got tennessee off of the pick. But mariota is a titan, and sam bradford will be the eagles quarterback. But how does chip know bradford is better than nick foels . If you could predict the future then me and you would be at the Kentucky Derby right now making money. You Better Believe it. We still havent won a playoff game and we understand that and weve got to get better. And chip knows how important a franchised quarterback is to his teams success. With the odds we want to play, its got to be with the quarterback situation. And the only way to get a quarterback, youve got to be really not very good. So you finish in the top 1 or 2 in the draft. If were not very good and we finish in the top 1 or 2, i dont think im going to be here. So we better find another way to get a quarterback and thats what we did with sam. The brush is burning along interstate 95 near hill top road. You see firefighters pouring water on it. This is near some homes. Theres no word on evacuations at this point. No one has been hurt but traffic squeezing by as you can see. Lester holt sat down with the family of freddie gray. He asked that family about their trust in Law Enforcement and the swift charges Six Police Officers now face in connection with grays death. It gives me a little more confidence in the States Attorneys Office and people in that area. But as far as the Law Enforcement itself, i just feel still the same way that i felt when i first found out what had happened. In philadelphia this morning, members of the state legislature opened the discussion about curbing violence here at home. They talked about the lack of communication between the community and police officers. Preventing the violence we saw in baltimore starts with calming tensions here according to leaders in philadelphia. Leading not only to people in the Community Feeling threatened by Law Enforcement officers, but also Law Enforcement officers are feeling threatened too. State representative ronald g. Waters along with the coalition agree fear here in baltimore causes people and police to panic. People sometimes overexert over fear and sometimes Law Enforcement officers overreact to people not knowing people are fearful and not meaning to be confrontational. Thats why vanessa brown, chairman of the legislative black caucus says they must inform people of their rights how to interact with Law Enforcement officers and start the conversation to fix the problem. I dont think the police are trained properly. I think they should be trained more and on the residents say violence stems from poverty. I think between the not having a job and or not having the education, i think is a recipe for violence. No concrete answers about how to solve issues out of this meeting, but the dialogue will continue. I just spoke to the police chief who tells me that the autopsies for the victims are scheduled for this evening. This is routine, and that tomorrow their identities will be released. Investigators are still down there, theyre doing their work. Theyre at the bottom of this driveway. Weve got two pieces of video we want to show you. The first is going to be video a little bit closer to this scene. We were able to get down there a short while ago. And then from sky force 10. Lets show you the ground video first. You can see the flames just demolish the home. As you mentioned, three women died in this fire four others inside the house survived. Two adults and two children. Were learning from police and Law Enforcement that the grandmother who lived inside of this home passed away last night and of the 7 people that were here today were family members gathered because of this death in the family. Now, when crews arrived around noon today, the home was engulfed in flames. The conditions out here have been very difficult for firefighters. Its been very windy out here, its very dry. And so this fire literally just took this home destroyed it and then some of the flames even spread to the woods behind the house and to the yard. As you can hear in our live shots, crews are heading out of here now. It appears that the scene is starting to wrap up here. Theyre still looking for a cause.
