A sinkhole knocked the bridge out of commission and now frustrated commuters will have to wait until late summer for penndot to replace the bridge and reopen plymouth road. Now the detours have drivers leaving the blue route and heading west only on plymouth road. They cant come this way east on butler pike. You can see more sinkholes on this section of the bridge. Good news tonight, though, penndot saying theyve got a plan in place, the bridge should be open by the end of the summer. Bids will be accepted in the next week for the work but even a fasttracked plan met with resistance. The traffic coming through here is pretty intense. Reporter those who live along plymouth road say for the first time in years its quiet here. Theyd like to see with the road closed a wider bridge built, one thats able to handle more traffic. Whenever you ask questions, you cant get answers because theres no plan for the future. Thats very frustrating. Reporter penndot says the emergency plan calls for rebuilding the bridge the same width as the old one, says thats the only way to get this road opened quickly for the 15,000 commuters who travel it daily. Now in a federally funded experiment the american literal society wants to see if oysters will settle on the reef as part of an effort to rebuild their population. Were bringing back a little bit of health to the bay hopefully. Reporter how . Oysters are filter feeders which have the natural ability to remove pollutants from the water. The ultimate goal is to help clean up the bay and restore the ecology, help strengthen the economy which depends upon clean water. Experts say because these are multidimensional, more resilient and provide more protection to baby oysters from predators. Giving them a healthy start up off the bottom of the bay. Reporter the centers for Disease Control published findings from a Youth Tobacco survey, asked 22,000 teens whether they used tobacco in the last month. The percentage of kids trying ecigarettes tripled in a short period of time 4. 5 in 20 13 to 13 a year later. It can have lasting effects on their developing brain, cause addiction and lead to sustained tobacco use is concerning to us. Reporter the food and Drug Administration has power over conventional cigarettes but not ecigarettes which have exploded in popularity in recent years. Studies have shown 70 of women who quit smoking during pregnant pregnancy relapsed within a year but women who breastfed three months were less likely to resume smoking after childbirth.
