They also say he was arrested and arraigned at his bedside. Again, once hes in good condition, he will be taken to jail. Guzman said he had to work hard to keep his composure in court today when facing william liepe, the accused drunk driver charge with a crash sfour years ago that left guzman paralyzed from the waist down and killed 9yearold ryan schleyer. He was my best friend. Reporter guzman and his father both took the stand at the first day of liepes trial on aggravated manslaughter vehicular homicide. I want to see him locked away for a long time. Reporter prosecutors say liepes blood alcohol level was triple the legal limit in april 2011 when his suv slammed into the car max guzman sr. Was driving in hamilton township. He, too, was seriously injured and now walks with a cane. Its tough to talk and see him only 15 feet away. Reporter he previously pleaded not guilty. Today his lawyer told the jury liepe wasnt speed organize swerving prior to the crash. The trial had to be postponed in september after Authorities Say liepe shot himself in the head while free on bail. Hes charged with eluding, child endangerment and a dozen other Motor Vehicle charges. The child was not hurt. Philadelphia police need your help finding a group of men who robbed a woman in south philadelphia in the middle of the afternoon. They released this surveillance video. It happened on saturday. Police say four men followed the victim from 17th to annon streets where one of the men demanded money. The woman refused so one of the suspects then fired a shot into the air with a handgun and then took her wallet. The suspects got away but met up later to split up the money. Fire destroyed a 300yearold restaurant in new jersey that once hosted president george washington. Flames hit the sergeantsville inn. Thats about an hour north of philadelphia. It took them several hours to get that fire under control. One firefighter suffered a minor knee injury. Crews tell us it was not an easy fire to fight.
