A warn the has been issued for his arrest. Frein opened fire outside State Police Barracks in pike county friday night. 38yearold Bryon Dickson was killed in that ambush. He recently worked out of the belmont barracks until transferring to northeastern pennsylvania in june. Trooper Alex Douglass was critically wounded. Frein is believed to be carrying at least two rifles. He has a. 308 rifle. We believe thats still with him, with a scope, we believe. Someone walking a dog yesterday spotted a car submerged in a Remote Holding pond about two miles from the barracks. According to the cdc, the virus has hit 130 people in 12 states. As far west as colorado, as far east as new york and all the way to louisiana in the south. More cases could be in delaware as well. As we told you last week, 12 dhern were hospitalized there with symptoms of enterovirus. We could know as early as this friday if that particular virus is behind those kids illness. Doctors at c. H. O. P. Says its understand the spread of the virus has been cause for so much concern across the country. I think anytime a region sees an unexpected increase in the number of children with a specific type of illness, people become concerned. And i think thats what happened in the midwest. That they, understandably, became concerned when they saw larger than expected numbers of children hospitalized with respiratory symptoms. The fire captain and his inmate crew of 11 deployed their fire shelters monday when flames overran their position. The largest deployment of the last resort shelters since 19 members of the Granite Mountain hot shots died in theirs last summer. In this case, a relief to get a radio call that the crew was okay. Erica brown was charged with theft from a Program Receiving Federal Funds today. Safe kids worldwide survived parents of children between the ages of 4 and 10. The group found 1 in 4 parents say they dont make their children bauckle up every time theyre in the car. Kids need to be in car seats or boosters until they meet the height and weight requirement. The lap belt will ride across their upper thighs where their hip bones can support them in the event of a crash. A former Philadelphia Police officer accused of stealing money was sentenced to six months probation today. Investigators say the former officer was on duty when she took money from a woman in temporary Police Custody in 2011. Pennsylvanias state treasurer says hes loaning money to the state after its main bank account dipped into the red. A 700 million loan was needed after the states account balance hit a tenyear low and dropped below zero. They say the loan is an alarming sign of the states deteriorating financial situation. And the results for august are in. The warmest august in the global history. But it wasnt warm here, was it . Were surrounded by way above average temperatures, especially out in the pacific and in portions of canada. And in europe, western europe was also cold but Eastern Europe was incredibly warm. When you add it all together, it was way above the average of the last 30 years. Were just talking about fracs of a degree but it is the warmest and weve had a few other months this year that were records as well. We have beautifullooking conditions there. In the poconos, dry conditions there now. More dry days ahead. We have cool nights ahead. The question is just how long that is going to last. That will allow the temperatures to drop. 50 in doylestown, 48 in vineland, 58 in Atlantic City, 51 in dover, 51 westchester and in glass breaboro as well. We have no rain around, just some of the fair weather clouds that will fall apart as the sun goes down. No other significant moisture on the map. We are in good shape as we go through the next few days. Now, you cant go too long without rain or else we start getting closer to drought conditions. Right now, at 6 00, take a close look at the man investigators say ambushed two state troopers in pike county on friday night. This is 31yearold eric matthew frein. Investigators describe him as a survivalist who has expressed a desire to kill police. They say frein should be considered armed and very dangerous. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Hes being charged with first degree murder and a long list of other offenses. Police say he opened fire outside the State Police Barracks shooting and killing 38yearold corporal Bryon Dickson who was killed. Trooper Alex Douglass was wounded. As for the suspect, Authorities Say 200 officers are now working to track him down. He has been described as a survivalist. He has a lot of training in that particular area. Hes made statements about wanting to kill Law Enforcement officers and also to commit mass acts of murder. Now, someone spotted a car submerged in a Remote Holding pond yesterday about two miles from the barracks.
