There are fewer School Security officers because of financial issues. Nbc 10s Katie Zachary spoke with the man in charge of keeping philadelphia students safe. Reporter there are more than 200 Philadelphia Public Schools. This year, theres less security for the students and teachers insi inside. We are sharing supervisors and officers with a lot of schools. We have had to reduce some of our deployment in high schools. Reporter the chief inspector is head of security and open about the changes this year brings. His staff is about 40 officers less because of budget constraints. He says they have had training to identify problems before they escala escalate. They are trying a new program where kids who commit their first nonviolent offense will be sent to a servicebased program instead of being arrested. We are policing a specialized population. Children who have not reached their majority physically and mentally cannot be dealt with as hardcore criminals. They are part of society. The storms will be later in the day. Strongest, north and west of philadelphia. Any storm could bring heavy rain and winds. Around the chicago area, you can see strong storms. This is severe. This will move in our direction. Tomorrow, the area shaded in yellow, this is where we have the highest threat for any Severe Weather tomorrow late in the day. Notice how its mainly through the Lehigh Valley and the poconos. It does include allentown, carbon and monroe counties. This will be tomorrow late evening hours with strong storms possible.
