Its the weekend and were going to see rain falling and the winter in the north and west. Seems like the system is falling every seven days on our weekend. Its going to be wet today and tomorrow. Live look outside. Waking up to dry conditions. If you want to get out, get out early and get your stuff done before you need that umbrella in hand. Radar is showing us dry right now. Satellite shows us we do have clouds in place. Mostly cloudy pretty much everywhere. But back to the southwest you question see that rain creeping in. You question so some pink. Thats the mixture. North and west we could see a mixture. Expecting light accumulations. Still a nuisance is the best twi describe it. North and west 24 in allentown. 22 in lancaster. 23 degrees in pottstown. 31 in philadelphia. All spots at or below freezing. With the exception of dover at 35. 23 in atlantic city. Heres that timing for you. At least for the start of it were going to continue to watch this over the next several hours. As this system gets closer but notice by 10 00 a. M. Still very spotty. Its really not until late morning early afternoon where we see the over spread of the area. By today, 8 00 32. By 10 00, 35. Could see rain creeping into the area. Maybe a mix north and west. Now to a developing story were looking at out of bucks county. Police there say that a shelter in play situation is under way in the indian creek section of levittown. Nbc10 is live on the scene where police s. W. A. T. Teams responded to ice pond road here around 9 30 last night. They are still out there. Police have been very tight lipped about this situation so we are working to get more details. As soon as we do have some confirmed information we will pass it along to you. Meanwhile, our crews will be on the scene to continue bringing us these live pictures. This morning were getting a better look at the damage left behind after a row home fire in southwest philadelphia. Nbc10s matt delucia is live along south 68 street where cleanup and restoration crews are already at work. Matt . Reporter rosemary the fire is out. The smoke has dissipated. Firefighters are gone. As you mentioned, the cleanup now begins. You can see the heavy damage here to the three homes here on this 2200 block of south 68th street. Work crews have been out here for several hours this morning. Well go ahead and show you what it looked like as this was burning. Sky force 10 was over the scene last night. A very intense fire that started just after 9 00 here on this block. The residents were forced to rush out and get to safety. Now, the fire chief tells us three people were injured including two who jumped from the second floor. Were told the Fire Marshals Office is investigating what started this. Neighbors and family members who were out here last night describe a fairly chaotic scene. Im emotionally like distraught right now because of the kids that were in there. Im just happy everybody was able to get out safely. Conditions are, as you can see, involved a right now three properties was effected by the fire. As we take another live look out here this morning, verien different scene than what you just skau from last night. The fire as i mentioned is out but now these families are left homeless. The red cross tells us it is helping 19 people with shelter. Some of them are children. Live in southwest philadelphia this morning, im matt delucia, nbc10 news. The wake for fallen new York City Police officer wenjian lui will be held today. Officer luis funeral will be held tomorrow morning. New yorks Police Commissioner is urging his officers not to make any political statements following a recent protest. Last saturday thousands of people attended the funeral for officer lui use partner. His final farewell was delayed until this weekend so his relatives could travel to the states from china. Philadelphia police may have a new lead in decembers deadly hit and run in the holmesburg section of the city. The crash happened on state road two days before christmas. Youre looking at new Surveillance Video from the scene. It shows a dark older model truck leaving the area after the driver hit 33yearold teresa posey while she was crossing the street. She died at the hospital a short time later. This morning nbc10 has learned the man suspected in a brutal attack on a woman inside a philadelphia parking garage has a violent criminal history. Steven woodson made his First Court Appearance yesterday. Hes charged with attempted murder and rape in connection with a new years day attack in spring garden. Police say he beat choked, and raped the 33yearold victim inside the garage at 17th street. The married couple who witnessed the attack stepped in and stopped it. According to police, woodson is from the pittsburgh area m and was in philadelphia visiting his grandparents. He has prior convictions in the city for robbery, assault, and attempted murder. Charges are also pending in Allegheny County against him. Police say woodson is not cooperating with their investigation. Newly released Crime Statistics show Camden Countys Police Department appears to be making some progress. In 2014 the overall Violent Crime rate was down 21 while the number of murders dropped by more than 50 since 2012 to 32. While thats still about nine times the National Homicide rate just two years ago, there was a record 67 homicides in camden. We spoke to free holder director lewis capelli who gave the force replacing the city place force in 2013. The residents of our city love our Police Department, our officers are walking the street theyre on bicycles knocking on doors, saying hello getting to know the neighborhoods theyre in. So its a Real Partnership between the residents and the Police Department. Camden mayor redd says she is confident the city will see more improvements in this year. According to the Philadelphia Fire Department in 20 14 there were more fires and more deadly fireses than the year before. 32 people died in fires last year. Thats an increase from the record low number of 24 the previous year. The department responded to more than 49,000 fire calls. Thats also up 10 from 2013. Now to news from our south jersey bureau. A pence grove member is charged with assaulting a Police Officer filed a lawsuit against the borough. You may remember Walter Hudson caught on camera throwing the officer to the ground last summer. Investigators say hudson and a councilwoman got upset with an i wasser questioning some teenagers about underage drinking. Hudson is claiming open public records act violations and could force the borough to pay his legal bills. The former philadelphia sportscaster is set to go on trial on monday. A bucks county judge denied his bid for a delay yesterday. He is accused of scamming people out of more than 300,000. According to prosecutors he sold tickets and travel packages to sporting erchs sporting. Events, promising to giving money to charity but pocketed the money instead. He said he would represent himself at trial. He will have a standby lawyer with him in the courtroom. The first person to declare her candidacy for philadelphia mayor has dropped out of the race. Terry guillen made the announcement on his Facebook Page saying she wasnt able to race enough money. A look at the democratic primary race. District attorney lynn abraham, ken trujillo and anthony williams. Michael nutter cannot run for a third term. From our Delaware Bureau heads up for residents who live near the Salem Hope Creek Nuclear generating stations. On tuesday officials will test emergency sirens at the plant. 37 sirens positioned within a tenmile radius of the facility will sound off just be aware of that. Yesterday family and friends gathered at our ladies of peace parish in williamstown for a viewing and funeral mass. They spoke of matthew as a vibrant child who loved sports and hoped to be a Police Officer one day. I just know there were some cops there and you know they gave him an honorary badge which was very nice of them. And they saluted him which was very sad. The Police Officer who hit matthew was responding to a call. Authorities will continue their investigation. Of course, well keep you posted on it. We have two celebrity deaths to report this morning. First, little july my dickens, the oldest cast member of the grand ole opry in nashville. He performed regularly at the opry from 1948 to his last appearance on december 20th. Dickens was 94 years old. Also the Associated Press is reporting that Donna Douglas has died. She was best known for her role as ellie may clampett on the beverly hillbillies. She had been battling pancreatic cancer in louisiana. Donna douglas was 8 the2 years old. We have a warning for pet owners. Some poconos, Lehigh Valley maybe parts of berks county that may be slower to change over to rain. Thats why there is a Winter Weather advisory. It was originally for the poconos poconos. Now inching into the Lehigh Valley and parts of chester and berks county. That is through this evening. Future weather as we go throughout time here. Plenty of clouds in place. Were going to have periods of rain. This time stamp, notice at 10 00, once were out and about, up and getting errands done looking at some wet weather coming in. Especially to the south. Septa police are investigating a threatening message found on a bathroom wall. Thats what theyre working on this weekend. Take a look. The message says shoot septa cops. It was posted in a bathroom at the frankfurt terminal station. There are no surveillance cameras in that area. Police are now asking anybody with information to give them a call. A federal judge in new jersey says disability lawsuit against Six Flags Great Adventure can go forward. Joseph masseys parents sued the theme park in ocean county in 2012. This after the teenager was told that he was only allowed on two rides at the park. Six flags bans people without at least one fully formed arm and one fully formed leg on most rides. Thats what their policy stipulates. Joseph was born without fully formed feet and is missing his right arm below the elbow. Nbc10 did reach out to the theme park for comment but officials there tell us they cannot discuss the pending lawsuit. A busy part of north wilmington is about to get even busier. Wilmington university is expanding its campus along the corner of route 202 and naammans road. Not everybody is supposed rt poing the plan because the 41acre piece of land remains untouched and environmentalists want it to stay that way. School officials plan to put three building theres to accommodate 1,000 students and 250 faculty members. They hope to break ground on the project within the next year. Allentown is ranked 11th in the country for projected job growth in 2015. Some good news for allentown. According to a Manpower Group study, allentown will add 17 more jobs this year. Allentown invested more than a billion dollars into the downtown and citys mayor says the investments are already paying off. Over a billion dollars worth of new development million square feet of office space, jobs are created here. The city plans to Start Construction on a new high rise this year that would be the tallest building in allentown. The Bottom Dollar food store chain will be closing its doors on january 15th. The chain sold out to rival grocer aldi. About 1500 Bottom Dollar workers will lose their jobs. Many will get severance pay. The big question is whether aldi will reopen some of the Bottom Dollar stores under its own brand. We knew we were closing but we just didnt expect the closing date to be so soon. We dont know if theyre taking overall the Bottom Dollar if its just going to be a few. We have no clue whats going on.
