New from overnight, an argument at a chinese takeout restaurant leaves a man dead. Two men were arguing outside of the lucky garden near 55th and landsdown. The shooter ran away and the victim died at the hospital. An investigation is under way after a crash involving a police car and an suv in old city. Nbc at fifth and market before 4 00 this morning. Authorities suspect the driver of that suv was drunk when the crash happened. Right now the septa officer is in stable condition. Today a funeral will be held for four children who died in a fire in southwest philadelphia last night. They were trapped inside the house and killed. Reporter those four children come from two different families but those family members decided to hold one Funeral Service later this morning at the divine mercy parish on chester avenue. This was what it looked like last night. Family and friends held a Small Service for the 4yearold twins and brothers. Their photos were on display in the way that people here want to remember them. Now, it was more than a month ago early on in the morning of july 5th. A fire started on the porch of a home on the 6500 block of gesner street that damaged 13 homes and five cars and those four children could not be saved. Just within the past 24 hours, the Philadelphia Fire Department offered an update on this fire. The big question on the minds of people in that neighborhood and these family members is what was the cause . How did this fire start . The fire commissioner says after consulting with the fire marshal that quite frankly they dont know. The cause has been ruled as undetermined. The Fire Marshals Office and arson investigators say the damage was extensive and the cause is undetermined. At 9 00 this morning, the families will say goodbye. Well stay on top of this. Im matt delucia, nbc 10 news. Over the next few days, a teen of fbi agents will be in ferguson, missouri, as part of a civil rights investigation into the shooting death of an unarmed teen. It has been exactly one week since 18yearold Michael Brown was shot and killed by a Ferguson Police officer. Last night hundreds of people continued to protest in the streets including outside police headquarters. The officer identified yesterday as Darren Wilson says he shot brown after a struggle but witnesses counter those claims saying there was no physical confrontation before the teen was shot in the street. Now, on the same day Ferguson Police identified the officer who shot brown, they also released this surveillance video. Authorities say it shows the teen stealing cigars from a liquor store a short time before he was shot. Fergusons police chief says wilson did not know brown was a robbery suspect at the time of the shooting. Browns family called the release of this video character assassination. Protests continue in ferguson. Police departments around the country and here in our area are paying close attention. At the height of the protests, demonstrators set off firebombs and looted stores in the area. The Police Response has included tactics like tear gas and stun grenades. Upper darby Police Superintendent tells nbc 10 that from what hes seen, the initial Police Action was warranted but he feels Ferguson Police should have scaled back their response when it came to protesters who would not disperse. When Police Organizations restore order, theyre wrong. When Police Organizations dont restore order, theyre wrong. You walk the fine line of how are you successful . Several local law enforcers have told us they worry about Police Departments that stockpile military hardware and then feel compelled to use it. People in philadelphia came together to remember a murdered woman whose body was found stuffed in a duffel bag and left on a sidewalk. A crowd of people walked in her memory last night. Friends, family and Community Members marched from the Art Institute where she was a recent graduate to the art museum where they held a candlelight vigil for the 23 year old. She was just so wonderful and we want to have her life celebrated and have something good come out of this. The victims body was found next to an abandoned home in kensington on july 14th. She had been beaten and robbed. Police say her neighbor killed her before stuffing her body into a duffel bag and leaving it for the trash. Now to philadelphias School Budget crisis. Despite an 81 million budget gap, classes will begin on time this year, september 8th. But the start of the new school year still comes at a cost. More cuts. They had to make several smaller cuts he hopes are just temporary. The 32 million in cuts means no buses for High School Students who live two miles or less from school. Also, schools will be cleaned less frequently. And School Security vacancies will not be filled so the same number of School Resource officers and more Elementary Schools will share officers. Last weekend 67yearold jan harding took a sip and immediately coughed it out thinking it was acid. She was rushed to the hospital with severe burns to her mouth and throat and is currently not able to speak. Police are waiting to see what happens with her condition before moving forward with any arrests or charges. A woman who was arrested in the 1991 murder of her 5yearold son in new jersey will remain in jail for now. She was arrested in florida earlier this month more than two decades after the investigation began. A judge denied a motion to set bond or release her. Earlier this week they said they would shutdown by september 10. Revel announced it will close the hotel at 11 00 a. M. On september 1st and casino shuts its doors for good on september 2nd. Revel could not find a qualified buyer after it filed for bankruptcy for a second time. About 3,100 people will lose their jobs. Its Atlantic Citys tallest building, which opened in 2012 at a cost of more than 2 billion. Revel is one of four Atlantic City casinos to close or announce their closing.
