Most of the fleet has been around since 1969. The Company Tells us the goal is a more comfortable ride for passengers. The cars also have several safety features ss which patco calls more important than ever since recent amtrak derailment in philadelphia. Governor christie has no problem with the question going on a ballot. It would involve changing the state constitution to allow casino gambling in north jersey. Christie said he would support the amendment but only if there are provisions that would help Atlantic City adjust to the shrinking casino market. Christies meantcomments came after a casino was proposed in East Rutherford across from manhattan. The project could generate 500 million in tax revenue for the state. Companies say theyre willing to share the money with Atlantic City but a. C. Is skeptical of more competition. Four Atlantic City casinos closed in 2014. It was very strong in northeast maryland moving to the east then weakened. Now we have a couple storms in njew jersey and one of them causing some problems. Now heres new castle county. Now its the southern part of the county that has small but heavy shower. One that came through parts of the philadelphia area went right through evesham township and headed toward tabernacle right now. As you can see, a little bit of a core of heavier rain near medford lake. Its going to get some of that. This is the area thats been pounded and this is ocean county. Seaside heights. This is one storm after the other. This is three hours worth. And so theres some localized flooding going on in that area. As we go through the evening, most of the storms would be in delaware and south jersey. Were starting to dry out from north to south. And it will become less humid. But thats just temporary. And, mitch they control the Crime Victims Fund. Keith, those people they are members of congress. They decide when on what, and how much of that money is spent. The child in this monitor is waiting to tell a story of physical or sexual abuse. Theyre one of hundreds that come to Mission Kids Child Advocacy center in Montgomery County each year. Weve had children in here under the age of 3. Up until their 18th birthday. Reporter abby newman runs the nonprofit. Its a place filled with childhood comforts from a box of crayons to dozens of books on the shelves. Behind all the cameras prosecutors, police and social workers listen to each childs story together so a victim only has to tell it once. We could be providing more services. Reporter the National Crime victims fund is supposed to make that possible for organizations like mission kids. Since 1985 congress has collected billions in restitution and fines from criminals. Every dime must legally go to causes that help victims of crime. But in 2000 congress put a cap on how much money the fund hands out each year. According to federal spending records, the Crime Victims Fund had 12 billion in just the last four years. But crime victims saw just 30 of it. The senate and congressional subcommittees on commerce justice, and science, are in charge of managing the fund. Its robbing crime victims. You know . So that members of congress can spend more money on their favorite pet programs. Reporter u. S. Senator pat toomey of pennsylvania takes issue with capping how much money goes to crime victims. He questions why the same senators and congressmen who decide how much is spent on victims of crime approve spending on other questionable items. The Crime Victims Fund is part of a larger pool of money that pays for items like the tee apartment of justice and nasa while lawmakers limit how much money goes to crime victims, the nbc 10 investigators found that pool of money paying for things hike a Grammy Museum in cleveland, mississippi, for 1. 25 million. 544,000 for premium linkedin accounts a the defarmtpartment of jus kiss. 856,000 on a study to see if a Mountain Lion could be taught to use a treadmill. Republicans and democrats have been guilty of misusing this fund. There are republicans and democrats who believe this should come to on end. Reporter chaka fattah and chris coons are two that sit on the committee in charge of the Crime Victims Fund. He says theres a reason its capped. I think theres concerns among some members of the committee that we not spend all of it too quickly. Reporter both said they support releasing more of the money to crime victims. During a phone victim congressman fatah said, im in the minority in the house. The way our process works is the majority has its way. The first thing you should do in my business is not take responsibility for things youre not responsible for. Senator coons said every member of the committee is responsible for how the fund is spent. Second we need to get through the budget politics of holding back some of this fund. Reporter the republican chairmen of the house and Senate Subcommittees in charge of the Crime Victims Fund did not return repeated requests to answer our questions. In Montgomery County mission kids and its executive directors say more money would be put to good use. I would hope that our elected ed officials in washington would see fit to release more of that money to help at a minimum child victims of sexual and physical abuse. She and her friends spotted a kitten stuck in a storm drain. Firefighters were too big to reach to the bottom. Fortunately, she was just the right size. So with moms permission the firefighters lowered her down the drain. I saved the kitten but i thought the kitten was going to bite me, but i picked it up softly and i gave it to the firefighters. Oh. Yeah and speaking of stormy we had a good bit of that yesterday. A little bit this afternoon. We continue to track those storms across the area. It continues to be warm. Looks like were going to end up with the second warmest may ever recorded in philadelphia. And we have some weekend thunderstorms. Its been one of the driest mays ever recorded. So were going to end the month with some. Now, at the lake theres some ominous looking clouds just north of the bowl there, but not raining in philadelphia right now. 88 degrees. The wind westsouthwest at 11 miles an hour. The temperature, the average high this time of the year 77. Weve been at least 10 degrees above that every day this week. Were likely to be 10 degrees above it tomorrow as well. And saturday, too, for that matter. Then things change next week. All right. We see the southwest winds coming in on one side. Northwest winds on the other. So its drier in pennsylvania than it is in delaware and south jersey. The temperature in wilmington knocked down because of the rain. And the pollen will get knocked down a little bit. Build back up on saturday. And then go right back down. By monday, a lot of the pollen is going to be knocked out of the sky. Let me tell you. You can see theres some thunderstorms in delaware. And its staying north of dover. The big race weekend there. Looks like friday and saturday are looking great. Sunday afternoon, some storms i expect there. Theres one just east of smyrna. Another in new jersey thats headed toward tabernacle. And the one over ocean county refuses to move. And Seaside Heights is just getting pounded by this thing. The future cast shows that most the activity stays in delaware and in south jersey as we go through the evening. And for the weekend, at the shore, some pretty nice weather friday and saturday. Little bit on the breezy side saturday. And some storms coming in later on sunday.
