And then for the radar, echoes to start coming down from new york city. That will be the first sign. Well, a little bit of a sign. Look whats happened here. In long island new york, a band of snow getting set up. And eventually some of those bands come right down into our area. Thats why were going to get a lot of snow. Here is delaware and the new jersey shore. Even interior sections of new jersey salem, cumberland cape may countiless, even parts of burlington and ocean counties. This is 9 00 tonight. At this time we do expect some areas in new jersey to start to see heavier snow, although we will still be seeing at least some periods of lighter snowfall. Then we go overnight tonight. This is going to be the prime time of the storm. A lot of you will be sleeping when this occurs. 2 00 overnight, darker shades of purple heavier snow. Parts of Atlantic County Burlington County, stretching into parts of delaware. Early tomorrow morning, 7 a. M. You notice the darker shades still in new jersey. We still expect that to be one of the hardest hit areas. Aside from the heavy snow, were also talking about increasing winds along the shore. By noon tomorrow some of the snow will be hanging around about before it finally tapers off. As far as the storm totals are concerned, we could see 10 to 15 inches north of Atlantic City. Much of south jersey could see 6 to 10 inches. Then we get into parts of delaware, we could see up to 6 inches. Southern delaware anywhere from 2 to 4. You see the range. 2 inches in Sussex County. 15 inches as you get closer into ocean county where, in fact there is a blizzard warning. Big difference across the area. Now, a look at the poconos, Lehigh Valley, chester, montgomery, bucks counties. In this area by tonight we still expect periods of snowfall. Overnight tonight, especially parts of bucks county. We expect some heavy snow. Thats 2 00 in the morning. And then early tomorrow morning, we still expect the snowfall lower amounts, though the farther west you go. Then noon tomorrow still snow falling, but quite a range. Anywhere from 3 to 6 inches through parts of lancaster county, berks county. We expect to get the worst of it late tonight into tomorrow morning. Theyre telling us the heaviest bands of snow could bring more than a foot of snow to some parts of the region but as theyve been saying it depends where you live. Other areas will see very little snow. And we have Team Coverage of this major snowstorm that includes nbc10 first alert meteorologist Sheena Parveen. Lets again begin with chief meteorologist glenn hurricane schwartz. Help us break down this storm because its not one size fits all. No. Its not even one particular storm. Theres a couple parts of it. This first part of course is pretty minor. Nothing more than a nuisance. But 30th street station here and the traffic, not that much yet. Well, it will get there. The past hour weve had very little in the way of snow. Some in Chester County. Sticking to certain surfaces. And the wide view, this area to the west is going to break apart and its going to increase out in the ocean. Its already starting to do that. Once we start to see everything coming back from new york kind of an unusual direction, then well know that the storm is really intensifying because theres the Pressure Center off the delmarva coast. Look at the wind coming straight in. Hundreds of miles right into the jersey shore. Thats why were going to get coastal flooding. It adds to the moisture of the storm as well. And the stronger the storm gets, the stronger those winds are. The heavier the precipitation it is. The slower it moves, the longer number of hours we have for the snow. As you can see, well be getting a strong northeast wind. Thats bringing a cold air as well. Meteorologist Sheena Parveen has more on just what to expect from this particular storm. This is a huge storm for the entire northeast, new england. We have a lot of blizzard warnings. Just to show you how large this storm is. From ocean county in new jersey up through maine, these are blizzard warnings. This is a very large portion of the northeast. We expect there to be a lot of snow. Now, our area will get a lot of snow but the blizzard conditions will be mostly north of our area although we will also be dealing with some high winds on top of the snow. Overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning, we expect the heaviest snow to be falling. Depends where you live though. If you live in parts of Burlington County just north of Atlantic City, also trenton area Mercer County, this is where we expect some highest snowfall totals. For now looks 10 to 15 inches. Farther north totals increase. Higher snow amounts the higher north you go. Around philadelphia into south jersey and even areas like montgomery, bucks county Lehigh Valley, you could see 6 to 10 inches. Some of New Castle County could see 3 to 6 inches. Farther west you could see 2 to 4. Big range. There you see the 15inch mark and down near maryland thats where you see the 2inch mark. Not too much of a difference in distance but a huge difference in snowfall. As we go into tomorrow morning, talk about the morning rush. Tuesday, 7 a. M. Heavy snow still falling through much of new jersey. Your commute is not looking good. Blowing snow especially the farther north you go snow drifts, 45mileanhour wind gusts and snowcovered roads. Around the philadelphia area the major enter states here from wilmington to trenton, were talking about the i95 corridor we expect snowcovered roads. The lower snow amounts will be farther south you go. Well talk about the commute for areas north and west and in delaware and well take a closer look region by region of the timing of the snow coming up. Thank you, sheena. Generally our weather goes from here to there. Not in this case. Well be watching the snow come down from new york city down toward the philadelphia area. So, that is going to be a critical place to look. Theres that low we were just talking about off the virginia coast. Its going to stay far enough offshore. So, it wont change to rain or anything. As a matter of fact, there comes the darker colors as we go past midnight into 4 a. M. That may be the heaviest of the storm, especially in new jersey. Look at the difference in the colors. Its the question related to the forecast is just how far to the south and west those dark blue colors are going to go . The stronger the storm is the more it can force it to the south and west. If its a little weaker the heaviest snow bands dont quite reach our area. Thats why its got to be watched so closely. This is one of those tricky types of storms. Meteorologist Sheena Parveen has the breakdown on who gets what out of this. As glenn just showed you, the heaviest snow is coming overnight tonight.
