Extra Police Forces have arrested 54 people in france for hate speech and terrorismrelated offenses. Within the half hour the attic was filled up with smoke and they were evacuating the house and the fire as you can see, the attic was fully involved. Reporter rob says the owners of the house kept plugging in a space heater last friday morning. And the Circuit Breaker box kept tripping off. This fire originates directly above the bedroom in the attic space. Reporter he says the wiring eventually overheated and started igniting wooden beams, something experts say is completely avoidable. A breaker box is there for a reason. If the breaker is tripping and constantly tripping theres a problem, an issue. You could call an electrician, have somebody come out and check out your wiring. Scary site on a south jersey road as a school bus burst into flame. In toms river, ocean county this morning, when the driver spelled something burning. Take a look at this dramatic video of the bus burning. The driver and aide were able to get out of the bus before it was just devoured by these flames. Fortunately, no children were on board. An investigation into what caused this fire is under way. Two sisters are recovering after being hit by a car on their way to school in reading. New information this afternoon on the beating and stabbing of three men dumped in the schuylkill river. Two victims who were brothers died. The third victim was able to free himself climb out of the river and call for help. Search is on for a killer continuing today after a woman was shot to death at a philadelphia bus stop on her way to work. Nbc10 Deanna Durante went back to the neighborhood where it happened and reports police are sifting through new clues in this case. Reporter Philadelphia Police with the Homicide Division are back at the home of 56yearold kim jones, the place she shared with her new spouse. Sources say theyve been busy uncovering clues like Video Evidence as they try to track down who was responsible for ambushing jones as she waited for a bus jed at 12 sxth jefferson. Police say she was targeted but havent said why someone would want to help the longterm social worker who helped kids in foster care or abused. An autopsy was performed today. Though theyre not talking on camera today, one relative yesterday told us a little bit about her. She was a good person. She was college educated. The mother of two sons. And a hard worker. Reporter they took a ride up 12th street under a Philadelphia Police camera. That camera is just across the street from the bus stop where she was killed. Sources say this is one of several cameras that picked up Video Evidence of the crime. Police are continuing to go over hours of video from around the area. Were hearing from Pennsylvania Attorney general Kathleen Kane for the First Time Since reports surfaced that a grand jury recommended charging her. She spoke outside the farm show in harrisburg today. She says she will not back down and intends to remain attorney general for the rest of her term. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported last week that a grand jury found she should be charged for leaking secret material to the daily news. Kane is appointing a special investigator to find out how that information was leaked. Real disappointment in the way this process has worked. Ive dedicated my life to the law. I love the law. Sky force 10 over the scene moments ago as military officers respond to a suspicious package discovered on base. Nbc10 George Spencer has arrived at joint base mcguiredixlakehurst in Burlington County. George the word is were following the evacuation prompted by a suspicious package. Reporter yeah, thats what would he hearing. At this point, weve only been on this scene for 30 minutes. I can tell you, this is an ongoing situation coming at a time of hitdened national alert. And the pictures behind me can you see an air force Police Officer who is guarding the entrance to the wrightstown gate here, a gate that has been locked down as this investigation continues. According to air force officials, a suspicious package was found on the base at the basic exchange and commissary just after 2 p. M. This afternoon. Base officials immediately evacuated that facility as a precaution and First Responders are right now on the scene investigating the situation, trying to get a handle on exactly what that suspicious package may be. Nbc news out of d. C. Confirmed independently that the package was left unintended. That is a large part of the reason why it would be considered suspicious. From what weve been able to see here on the ground we can tell you that all of the action is happening deep inside this large base. From the people who are outside here, it is more confusion. People who are trying to get on for medical appointments and other needs being turned around and not allowed in one of the primary gates here. Right now the First Responders are checking on that suspicious package. We will be here on the ground to get a first look and first information just as soon as we get a clearer handle on exactly what they have found. Base security is in the process of trying to figure out whats inside the package. A developing story out of texas. At least ten people are dead after a prison bus hits a train. The bus carrying state prisoners skidded off an icy highway overpass and slid down an embankment and then collided with the train. Investigators on the scene in pennwell texas, in the western part of that state. An overpass on i20 was slick with ice when the bus left the road. It was carrying 12 prisoners and three corrections officers. The inmates were going from a prison in abilene to el paso. Five patients are still being treated at the hospital. The Financial Outlook for almost half of our local communities is dire. Thats according to a new report from pennsylvania money managers. Those towns in trouble could turn to residents to help dig them out of debt. The state Auditor General claims these five communities in our region are severe will he distressed. The reason pensions the towns owe but dont have the money to pay longterm. Nbc10s Randy Gyllenhaal is live for us. Describe for us how bad the problem is. Reporter according to this justreleased report the top 20 or so worst offending towns owe millions upon millions in dollars in unpaid pensions. The state is calling these towns severely distressed. So bad that some of these towns arent even making half of the payments they need to. And experts say theyre now teetering on the edge of financial distress. In terms of raw dollars, philadelphia is by far the worst offender owing more than 5 billion in pension payments but tiny towns like here colwyn with 3,000 population ranked the most distressed. Neighbors are worried a looming pension crisis will lead to higher taxes. Taxes keep going up. We dont get any more for our money than we did before. Tax hikes are absolutely something that need to be considered. Reporter pension experts like gary lewis say some towns will have no other choice but to increase taxes. If the problem isnt addressed soon bankruptcy might not be farfetched. Money that would otherwise be used to pave roads or pay salary or buy fire trucks now has to go and pay for Retiree Benefits and health care. Reporter now, ive been on the phone with town managers across the area. They say aside from tax hikes, we can expect benefit cuts in a number of towns that face these shortfalls. They say cherry tried to pull the woman over in january 2014 but she drove to the municipal complex where cherry allegedly allowed the dog to bite her. She calls the assassin claim ludicrous and says its part of a movie script shes been working on for years. Delaware state Police Arrested two women for prostitution at a wilmington massage parlor. Undercover officers say they received massages from these women at the health spa monday. The women also allegedly offered to perform sex acts in exchange for cash. The officers came back later with a search warrant. They arrested the women. Philadelphia police are looking for the suspect who tried to rob a woman at gunpoint at west mt. Ayr. The suspect ran after her and even tripped and fell. The woman ran into her house and shut the door. The suspect kicked the door several times, wasnt able to get inside, so he eventually ran off. Starting to see a few breaks in the clouds. Not toelgtstally overcast. 32 degrees. The wind only 7 miles an hour. And in the poconos, they are making snow, as you can see. People skiing here. This pattern is pretty favorable for the poconos for making snow. Eventually theyll get some natural snow with this kind of a pattern that were going to be going in over the next couple of weeks. Its certainly cold enough to make it, even during the afternoon. Temperatures down into the mid20s across much of the area north and west of i95 core doeshgs right around the freezing mark. Wilmington up to philadelphia northeast philly at 32. 31 in trenton. Mt. Holly, wrightstown. At the shore and southern delaware, a little above the freezing mark. That caused some of that snow to melt later on. It feels like its in the upper teens to mid20s. Not anything brutal but it just feels kind of chilly out there. Especially with the cloud cover. Live radar showing nothing more than a couple sprinkles back across extreme southern jersey. And heres the overall picture, the arctic air. Not that far away but a large area of cold weather. Its just hanging in there. Its going to ease up for about a day. Some of it trying to come up the coast. Then here comes the cold weather back. Not just cold. Arctic cold as we go through a portion of next week. So there really isnt any mild pattern that is in sight here. So for tonight, its not mild. Its cold. 25 for a low in philadelphia. 15 north and west especially if they clear out anywhere. A mix of clouds and sunshine tomorrow. Below average temperatures again. Temperatures into the upper 30s. And then its even windier on friday, making it feel colder. Still pretty cold on saturday but dry. There the thundershowers are coming in on sunday. The one day that is above normal with temperatures. Then it gets cold again. Again, its not bitter cold, brutal cold but colder than average, which is what weve seen for much of the month of january and every time the computer models seem to suggest a milder pattern, everything shifts right back. Keeps you busy. Youve heard the expression the show must go on. Thats right. Well, thats not the way some feel about an attraction down the shore. The event that sparked concert controversy and why some are saying, this doesnt belong back in their community. We have breaking news in to us from sky force 10. Firefighters outside a home here. Looks like they have things under control. We dont have any word on what might have sparked this fire nor do we have any word on any possible injuries but it looks like as we said this situation is close to being under control here. One attraction from the summer of 2014 really wasnt music to the ears of some people at the jersey shore. Now, critics are urging Community Leaders to keep it away for next summer. Reporter well jim and renee, that concert took place right here on the beach between two of the amusement piers owned by the morey organization. A company that now believes these shows are bad for the wildwoods brand and its core family audience. Reporter the pulsing beats brought thousands of young people to the sand in wildwood but this electronic dance music concert last july left steve and other local Business Owners very disappointed. There was one major complaint, and that was some vulgar language on the stage. Reporter so the owners of the hugely popular moreys pier say they were shocked to find out that beach glow concerts for charity appeared to be coming back and that city leaders are in the process of finalizing a threeyear contract with the organization. I had more problems on senior weeks than i do at that concert. Was there some issues . Absolutely. Reporter this letter from moreys to wildwood mayor obtained by nbc10 condemns the concerts apparent return. It points to the 37 arrests made at last summers show and numerous incidents involving drunk teens, including a girl who was vomiting on herself in the bleachers on the beach. We hear mr. Morey and hiS Organization, loud and clear. I also hear a lot of people saying i need my taxes lowered. This is revenue for the city of wildwood. Reporter the concert would be held over july 4th weekend. The mayor says this time the city will pull the plug on the show if anything profane is uttered on stage. So, time will tell whether the addressing the concern will be rectified this time or not. Reporter now beach glow raised 40,000 for the American Red Cross from last years concert.
